  1. My main is a powertech, I played him with a strong sense of honor, ethics and professionalism. Mako loved me. The people who are complaining about companions not liking them seem to be the type of people who fall on the "LOL IM SO RANDUMB AND EVILZ LULZ" side of the spectrum. Most of your "good" companions will approve of some dark side acts, Mako is the perfect example of this.
  2. Wearing a dress and running into combat with a glowstick is also suicidal, yet in Star Wars it works out just fine. Applying real life logic to a series that follows the "rule of cool" is pointless. And yes, almost every squad in a modern day military has at least one guy with some sort of squad automatic weapon for laying down suppressive fire. Even special forces. And regardless; if the assault cannon has more in common with heavy machine guns such as the M2, it still fits with the commando's "living turret" philosophy. What's to say that the troopers power armor doesn't contribute to him being able to lift such a heavy weapon with ease? Even in their primitive state, modern day exoskeletons such as the Raytheon XOS have proven that they can help a soldier comfortably lift loaded ammo boxes for hours and hours.
  3. The Vanguard is your squad leader. He leads the assaults, charges the enemy, gets into close combat, rushes to where his men need him most, and (more than likely) deploys from dropships or APCs. All of this requires a high amount of mobility, this is why he uses a blaster rifle. The Commando is your fire support specialist. If he was in Afghanistan this guy would be carrying a m249, his job is to do as much damage as possible, he isn't precise, he isn't mobile and he isn't accurate; but he has a bullet with your name on it, and he's gunna keep shooting until he finds it. He blows **** up. This is why he uses an assault cannon.
  4. Thats sort of point. It's alot more Kyle Katarn and a lot less Obi-Wan. Hell if they let me use the pistol I probably would. http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20071205214861/starwars/images/3/3f/Kyle_sariss.jpg
  5. I've been wearing the Civilian Pilots outfit since around level 28ish, absolutely loving it. http://i.imgur.com/Aug9M.jpg Yes, thats a pistol strapped to my chest. Deal with it.
  6. Did it at level 40 as a Seer with Iresso tanking. I don't see what all the fuss is about, just interrupt his spells and it's simple as hell.
  7. What's dumb is using movie canon rules in the EU. Especially when the only thing the movies have to say about the whole Jedi marriage issue is Padme saying "Anakin the council would never allow it" or something along those lines. Hardly a statement to build the foundation of your argument around.
  8. See, When your working with the EU, the EU rules take the lead. But just to humor myself I'll ask you where in the 6 films does it say that Jedi cannot marry, ever. Just because a particular council disallows something doesn't mean the rules are set in stone. If your old boss gave you a 45 minute lunch break, and your new boss only gives you a 20 minute break, does that mean the 45 minute break never existed at all?
  9. Yeah, no. Look up the Holocron Community Database. It's maintained by Lucas Licensing to keep track of the lore. If it's in there, it's canon. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Holocron_continuity_database
  10. That's pretty much what Revan believed, and it made sense. Two force sensitive parents had a better chance of producing force sensitive children, or even one force sensitive parent greatly improved the odds. He also understood that emotions like love could drive a person to do great things if they had enough self control. He started as a Jedi, became a Sith and then became something in between, and more powerful than both.
  11. Etain was a knight during the clone wars who ended up marrying a Clone Commando, while Kento was the father of Galen Marek, Vader's "second" apprentice. Then there's also Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade, and Kyle Kataran and Jan Ors, Corran Horn and Mirax Terrik And just about every Jedi from Corellia http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Corellian_Jedi
  12. Every class can get married. It ties into the legacy system. Also look at Anakin, Etain, and Kento Marek, there's quite a few Jedi in lore who've been married.
  13. I only keep the ones that have a good looking hilt or a decent sound. I trashed the first saber, couldn't stand the way that thing looked. Most of the hilts end up having that hilarious "fzzt" noise where it sounds like a power outlet shorting out, so they also get trashed. I only have about 3 orange sabers in the bank, while I have almost a dozen orange robes and pants since finding decent looking armor before 50 is a PITA.
  14. Still 10 times better than the Knight's, I swear I heard his voice crack on Tython.
  15. Like others have said, the Consular's story has very nice "covert diplomacy" kind of feel. You're the man in the background who makes things happen, as opposed to the Knight who just runs around screaming and whacking things with his glowstick. There's a quite a few times where the Consular steps out from the shadows and becomes a badazz, but they're spaced out rather nicely so you don't feel like some sort of blood thirsty warrior. Chapter 1 is really more about laying the groundwork for the story, and shows the Consular stepping into his role. Some might find it boring, but it really sets you up for the following chapters. And yes, the overarching story and the individual companion stories take quite a few twists and turns. Personally this is one of my favorite classes at the moment thanks to the storyline, VO and companions.
