  1. And you're not a fan of healing. That's why you're having doubts of your Scoundrel. This game's pvp isn't Team Deathmatch. It's isn't 1 vs 1 duels.Every single WZ has a capture objective to it.A Scrapper can't heal for much, but sometimes a little healing at the right time can really turn the tide. I heal ppl all the time with my scrapper,if that's what's needed to win. I heal my team's healer if he's being focus fired on,to buy him some time.I heal ball carriers in Huttball,if I can't get to them to support them (like they are up a ledge or across a fire pit). When guarding doors, healing is way more important than damage, because all you need to do is stay alive as a team to prevent anyone from capping door. When you're on defense anyone you kill just respawns with no timer,so the key is to have as many defenders alive as long as possible. It's a nice option to have, and it pays off if you do it right. You can argue that's not what DPS class should do,but if you have the abilties, you should use them anyway you want.I think it's silly to have a playstyle that doesn't use all the skills your class has to offer. It's why Bioware will never bring Scrapper damage to the same level as DPS Shadows or Sentinels,or any other pure DPS build on a class. If they could do the same damage as those guys, and heal and stealth on top of that, then that would break all game balance. Bioware may not 'balance" a class so that it has an equal chance to beat another class. They really don't care how a class does solo pvp. They probably "balance" a class based on what that class might do in a team or to make sure that each class has unique skills.
  2. It does sound like you were playing with jerks.I typically find people like that 25% of random flashpoints I do,which is one more reason I don't like doing flashpoints. The good thing about Scoundrels is you can go heal spec, and tell off rude players in Flashpoints, because at higher levels healers are rare. The only thing I can think of from what you said on your post that could make you seem like a bad player is if you were breaking CC with your grenades. That could do it.Or if you weren't focusing your attacks on the same target the group was. Also, even though you're DPS spec, you still have base heals. It wouldn't hurt to learn how to backup heal,if someone is going to die.
  3. I've been through all this before in other MMO's.. I enjoy playing Class " X" .Class X is underpowered, kinda gimpy, but hey I have fun.Not many ppl want to play Class X,because there are much easier classes to play.So Class X gets a bad reputation. They get shunned from pvp/pve/raids whatever. Devs hear about this. Devs get worried. Too much whining about Class X! Devs must act, must act now! Devs buff Class X ! Class X becomes Super Double Strength Class X !!!! Now everyone and their dog rolls a Class X,because they are the Flavor of the Month. They are Super Double Strength. Before they took skill to play Class X,now all they need to do is button mash! So I stop playing Class X,because it's no longer the Class I originally liked, and everyone I meet is a Class X.
  4. I'll have to disagree. Over the years,I've played well over 20 MMO's and only one or two of those MMO's did a good job making events on a regular basis. They either become really cheesy,or annoying,or disruptive to normal game play. In one event,a Halloween one in old Everquest, they had giant skeletons attacking the cities. It ended up killing newbies as they tried to eke out some meager lowbie exp (in EQ you lose exp everytime you die,so dying over and over will cost you game time and prevent you form levelling). After the event ,I logged into my account and found that my main who died during the event (and I didn't have time to rescue his body because of all the lag) was erased. So yes,I hate events, and I cancelled my EQ account. Rather than plan events (which waste developers time from making content) it's better to hand out gifts. What I think TOR should do ,on Christmas (yes,I said Christmas),send in-game Mail to the chars wishing them well, thanking them for their support and few small gifts, like Minor Xp booster or random loot box.Keep it simple and classy, and save the time and money that would go into an event and put it into making new content.
  5. Many of us who are critical of the Free to Play model have said this before.Typically, when a games goes F2p,Devs spend more time making items for their Cash Shop, and less on content,to maximize profits. That's the downside of all F2P games, not just this one. It only gets worse, but we have no choice.
  6. 1) They will use the new "Free Chat" to talk to other players zone-wide to ask for groups. 2)Whispers take a lot longer for credit sellers, and much harder to script for. 3)At this rate, your /ignore list will overflow in a month. And you have to put each spammer on /ignore for every character you have on your account. As for keyloggers and hacked accounts, that's a security issue, and Bioware already deals with those as they find out about them.
  7. I definately enjoy playing my Gunslinger, but in no way is it the best pvp class for warzones. 1)They can't carry the ball.Too squishy,no cc immunity. 2) They can't run with speed from one cap point to another. They're fine defending one capture point, but they don't travel well. 3)They can't heal. 4) Their damage is easily negated by using terrain to break Line of Sight. 5) They can't steal a capture point using Stealth. How many times can you win/lose a warzone because someone ninja'd a capture point? 6) They can't Guard or Taunt.A Tank can Guard on a healer and reduce damage that healer takes by 50%,but add the 30% damage reduction of Taunt and that's a lot of damage that gets negated.Sure, you can shoot down one guy trying to melee your healer, but you can't do anything against a bunch of them focused on your healer at the same time,or if your healer is getting shot at from someone not in your line of sight. I would say they are the best damage dealer,or even the fastest killer, but not the best warzone class.
  8. Step 1: Disable general chat from all F2p accounts, but leave it for Preferred and Subscribers. Step 2: Create a new chat channel called "Free Chat" which can be accessed by anyone, and covers an entire zone the way General does.If F2P players want to ask for advice or to socialize, they can use this channel. If Subscribers/Preferred don't want to read any of it,they can disable the Chat channel in their chat menu. Sure spammers will keep trying to spam on general chat, but if they keep getting their accounts banned,it will start to cost them money. And they can't just make a new free account to start spamming again, since new F2P accounts don't have access to General Chat.
  9. People will vote a Healer for mvp,if they realize you've healed them. Some warzones, there so much chaos, and you're pumping out heals and noone notices---because they are focused to their combat and they might not see your name over their heads in green -healing spam.Hey,it happens. If they do see your name in green healing spam, and you saved their carcass, they will vote you MVP.Newbie players tend not to vote healers MVP,because they really don't understand WZ's yet---some of them think WZ's are team-death match. But veteran players will vote for you.
  10. When i first encountered him,I had a Guardian I got rolled like everyone else.I kept trying of course, and after a while got better and better at fighting him.I eventually beat him after I came back and was 2 levels higher than he was. When I took him on again with my sentinel,I took him on at the same level and beat him my first try.I had learned so much about interrupts and Force Stasis, that second time around it was easy.
  11. Why not just replace "Cover" in your quickbar with "Crouch"? With Crouch you just go into turret mode where you're standing you don't roll into a spot. Or go Dirty Fighting. The damage isn't the same, but once you get used to it you realize you hardly ever have to go into Cover.
  12. 1) Buy a Gamorrean Axe for Bowdaar. 2)Consider unlocking a race that Smuggler's can't be.
  13. I'm generally happy with patch 1.5,even though I was skeptical about it before it went live. I think Patch 1.6 will only help--most of what is listed in the patch notes look positive to me.I'm glad I stayed subbed.
  14. I have to agree.I used to be a LOTRO sub since launch.LOTRO F2p is essentially a cash grab.It did lead to more updates and more players but it also led to a loss of civility in the game and constant stream of over priced ,poorly designed expansions to squeeze as much money as they can from their customers. They have to keep pumping out expansions, because they don't get enough money from F2P.A guy with a lifetime sub won't need to keep paying....unless they raise the level cap with an expansion he needs to buy.Expansions are great if they add content or features to the game, but that's not what they produce now. To me,it's not the F2P players that saved the game,it's the hardcore subbers/lifetime who kept the game alive. The subs provided the dollars,f2p provided the cents.Instead of adding content to the game, the devs now focus on adding content to the cash shop. For now,I will continue to sub in TOR,but I will wait and see.
  15. That part is true, about your damage scoring lower but meaning more. You can easily go Dirty Fighting and spam your Shrapnel Bomb into a pile of players and have your damage score go up----but not accomplish much. The WZ damage score is almost a meaningless stat on its own.
