  1. The 3.4 is OC'd and the stable as I can get it w/ unlocked cores. As a 4 core I can get it to 3.8 stable but not with the unlocked cores. At least not without upping the Voltage and for that I will need a liquid cooler. Unfortunately due to budget constraints I have to stick with AMD bc that is what my mobo supports. Any suggestions for an AM3+ AMD Cpu will be greatly appreciated that can run this game.
  2. I do stop healing sometimes which isnt good practice, I will take your advice. Thank you.
  3. Yeah a few were in purple and a sword came through the group. I let a dps die off bat bc he was stealing aggro from tank (not his fault). I pull 4k+ even with a 2nd healer but my eff hps goes down to like 1.6 especially with a merc in group
  4. it depends I generally only use AoE heals when I get 3 stacks off of innervate in one shot, If I only get 1 or 2 then and I actually need force then i use it for regen.
  5. So last night our 2nd healer had to log and I was asked to solo heal Revan. Somehow we wiped even thought I was pulling 4k effective Heals per Second. I am a sorc healer just curious if I should realistically be able to solo heal the fight. Rotation: resurgence, innvervate, dark infusion (50%hp) instant dark heal, roaming mend, Revivification at 3 stacks of surge. Stats: 33.37% Crit 72.23% Surge 6.56% Alacrity Any tips will be greatly appreciated
  6. 8m I sitll get low fps but its completely playable as a healer, since I am a sorc, I am just trying to get this resolved before my guild starts hms
  7. Thanks, I figured it was the CPU, was trying to postpone the upgrade bc itll cost me a mobo, windows, plus cpu to switch to intel. Any AMD suggestions that are easy on the budget?
  8. So I just came back to SWTOR after a 6 month hiatus. Anyways I ran my first 16m op ToS last night and my fps was 7.2 the entire time (even when out of combat). I lowered the settings to low which made no difference. My system specs are: AMD Phenom II 3.4 GHZ 6 core CPU Gigabyte 6850 OCd edition 8GB of Ram Temps are fine, but I cannot for the life of me figure out the problem. When not in a 16 man I run my settings on High with no issues. Any advice will be greatly appreciated
  9. I am posting because from what I have read I feel as if I am the only one who gets Arenas. For starters, if you have ever looked for serious competition this isn't the game for you. Hardcore seems to be a PVE focus and PVP will not reach a real competitive state until they use a brand new engine to allow mid range systems to operate this game without hinderence and cross server queues. How can you be the best from only your server at least add a battlegroup feature server v server. Taking that into consideration Arenas are great especially during low q times. 4v4 is a lot easier than 8v8 when the pop is low. Played on my mara granted I was attempting to get used to my new gamepad had a zfang for years but it went caput so I am using a nostromo vast difference. Anyways I had fun no obj tdm to me is a great addition to the game withoit the special background crap in warzones I achieve decent fps. Arenas to me were created to fill a pvp void of a real player versus player no obj map. Love it BW and for the balance comment I kmow of no games currently out that have achieved 100% class balance good luck with that.
  10. I cannot speak on healer aggro the last Op I healed was HM EC when NiM was not even available. Aggro was never a problem. The healer threat drop was in reference to him being new to MMOs. I tried to make the information as broad (both game and class) as possible. Just in case he decides to try other MMOs. ToR doesnt even have a displayable threat meter so really it is kinda just there lol. When I tanked on my vanguard I rarely had trouble holding aggro if it was established. Nor pulling a target off of a healer and keeping it.
  11. Maybe I am wrong but wasnt Sandclaw a random spawn during the Rakghoul Event.
  12. Hello and Welcome to SWTOR, I will break down my tips by category since I do not know the specific cause for you getting booted multiple times. I will start off with Tips, Basic Tanking Abilities, Mechanics, and Gear Explanation. Everything will be pretty broad and use of the guardian abilities will be used (if I can remember the names). Tips: Location of your abilities on the quick bar Knowing your Tank Rotation or DPS Rotation Tank Taunt (threat gainer)-ability used to gain aggro whether over another player or to ensure mobs are attacking you. Mobs-enemy npcs Aggro- the amount of threat a player has DPS/ Healer Threat drop- ability dps/healer players have to drop their threat Paying Attention to the group- looking for dps users with threat and your healer (mobs attacking your healer can slow and interrupt them healing you. Guard: ability tanks have to redirect damage to them from another player. (Guard healer unless you have a dps tanking an enormous amount of damage. Guarding a dps will ease the healing your healer has to do thus providing more heals to the group Rolling Dps to learn mechanics of the fights- most fights require the dps moving out of the bad stuff usually indicated by a big red circle or ground effects. Meaning you have less responsibility in the group. (except doing damage of course) This can be beneficial for you to learn the fights, and watch another tank, and learn from what he/she does and also make improvements or tweak it to you style. Also it is easier to carry a DPS than it is to carry a tank. Being friendly and announcing at the beginning of the FP you are new. (Generally this helps, because people will either tell you np and help you out or ask you to leave, better than getting the boot I say) Running the lower lvl version of FPs to understand mechanics Some of these tips will be mentioned throughout the rest of the reply. If you need help or explanation of anything not covered just shoot me a Private Message. Lets get started. Basic Tanking Abilities: Threat Gainer ( Taunts) (Locate in your Ability Bar under Guardian the AOE threat and single target threat abilities) Explanation: the Tanks role is to take damage and keep aggro of the enemy/enemies targeted. Sometimes this wont happen with big groups. But activation your AOE threat and say Force Sweep (Jug its smash) doing high damage while in tank form will increase the threat and direct enemies to attack you. Tank Form: For guardians it is Sorensu Form, Juggs I dont know but read the ability on your Guardian since they are mirror classes it wont be too hard to find. Hit Mobs (groups of enemies) first (even bosses): Majority of dps players do not care about this so you need to focus on keeping the pace. If you had played MMOs back in the day (lol) there was a respect for tanks and heals since no one wanted to play them and finding a skilled one was rare. Tanks set the pace. You need to establish this from the very beginning by attacking the first mob (that needs to be attacked) first. Also learn to judge healers if you are attacking say 4 mobs and not losing an ounce of life. Pull more. Quicker is better. Back to Abilities: Know your defense CDs, the shield that reflects damage, and more but read your spec and abilities to learn what these are. (cds are cooldowns ex. (making this up idk if this is what it says in game) Undying Rush: 99% damage reduction for 30s in small letters 2 min can be seen) This means you can use that ability every 2 mins. Leading me to my next advice. Press esc/ Go to Main menu in game, click preferences, User Interface, scroll down until you see Cooldown Texts. Turn that on. What style and size you want displayed is up to you. But for your rotation this is beautiful, it will let you know by the tenths of a second when an ability is able to be used again. Rotation: Learn your rotation, General for tanks it is always your threat grabber first, been awhile since I tanked but for Guardian I would say charge (group of mobs) aoe taunt ,smash, single taunt any enemy outside of the aoe taunt. force slash or w/e group should be dead. Your taunt should always be in your rotation. Personally I dont care if I still have threat unless it is a boss that drops all threat at some point (after an attack or randomly jumps to another player) I am continously taunting. Some dps will not use there aggro dropper. *Tip* if you see an idiot dps Set Focus to him (UI Editor find the box titled focus target enable it). Do the same for target of target. If you get really comfortable you can set up a modifier to target the target of target and use single taunt. Advanced for a beginner but so you can remember down the road. Mechanics: Fights have mechanics which are predetermined abilities and actions that will happen during an encounter. Learn these. Know these. And figure out when to use your defense CDs to counter to the best of you ability. This can separate a crappy tank from a good tank. Best way to learn mechanics in my opinion is rolling dps and watching the fight unfold. It is a lot easier to notice something when you are not the one doing it lol. Gear and Stats Explanation: As stated previously it has been awhile since I PvE tanked in this game. So you will need to figure out the current stat priority Guardian Ex. (do not follow this just an example using guardian stats) Ex. Strength/Endurance/Absorption/Defense/Crit etc. As for advice from either a guardian/jugg tank in game by /general looking for a geared skilled tank to ask a couple of questions. You should get some response. Do not run with one persons advice. Take into account the advice of say 3 people and see what matches up. Generally geared tanks will know what they are talking about but make sure they are geared. Preferably BiS (might jus want to type that) See if they will meet you in game as well look at their gear find out what armorings/mods/enhancements they switched. Augments they use. Look at their stats if you can. This is where you want to get to so knowing this will help you in the long run. Plus ask them what to focus on first. Either Defense or Strength, Absorption or Endurance etc. Summary: Learn you role, know what a tank/dps/healers purpose is Learn your abilities read them and understand them in accordance with your talent tree. Develop a rotation Pay attention to the Flashpoint/Operation Roll DPS/ or learn mechanics of the fights via Youtube/SWTOR Spy/ etc or running low-level fps that you can solo Be Polite and notify group you are new Most Importantly HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope this helps and if you have any questions reply or send a PM
  13. Does healing need a nerf? No Do scoundrels/ops need a nerf? Potentially Let me support that statement made about ops/scoundrels needing a nerf with the following information: Based on personal experience I can mow down a guarded Merc/Commando, and Sage/Sorc (granted it depends on the team etc. But I will use the base standard non supported healer w/ guard) An operative/scoundrel on the other hand is very difficult to beat down in comparison to the other 2 healing classes. That being said should they recieve a nerf. Potentially. Simply because most want an op/scoundrel healer and I am sure when Arenas go live. The best comp will contain an operative. I can all but guarantee it. Will bringing the other classes up to par with the operative and then increasing trauma work? Whoever mentioned that first actually presented in my eyes the best solution. Equal out the evasive, immunities and instant healing across the board. Increase trauma and healing will be placed back in check. Has healing been OP since launch? No, sorcs used to get plowed, I know I played one and played against others. Unless there was a secondary healer focusing on keeping the sorc up they were not standing up to my Mara. Best Outcome: In my opinion BW needs to focus on making healers survivable but not invincible. Generally, I have always thought it should take 2 DPS to take down a healer solo in a short amount of time (with healers CDs etc) soloing a healer should not happen unless the skill is there to do it. I can get beat down on my sorc easily by most dps classes. (Ex. used is me + another 2v2dps) It is difficult to stay alive versus one dps in most cases and heal my teammate. (unless a tank). The best solution is evening the gap between OPS/SORCS/MERCS. Whether that requires a nerf to one class to buff to two classes only time will tell. Right now Ops are the best healers in game but as with most MMOs, usually one class from each role has an advantage over the other every so many patches. Unfortunately, I will have to use WoW for an example. If you played WoW at all on a decent basis you have seen OP Pallys, DKs, Priests, Druids, Rogues, Warrs, and Mages sometimes throughout your time in-game. Just a fact.
  14. Killing mobs that had no skill etc helped me, trying to practice knowing your keybinds, while getting stomped by someone was too frustrating for me I like to win. Couple Edits in my last post, map I learned to play on was actually Arathi Basin guarding nodes (had to go look at old screen shots and vids) Strand of the Ancients was introduced in Wrath. It was 2 years I was a crappy player in PvP, keybinding made me more awesome in PvE. (separated it into Paragraphs for ya this time) Basically just keybind, anyone I meet in an MMO that has PvP worth playing I say that too. For some the strategy of keybinding a little at a time and still clicking works. But they are dependent on keyboard turning. Regardless of who you are keyboard turning is too slow. Although with some classes an ability if clicked on a target will AUTO-TURN you. My secret tip for you click on your targets tab works but I just prefer clicking on them. Then activate an ability, For example i have used my trooper to auto shoot targets behind me (auto turn around) on my Mara and Guardian ravage targets continuously. Meaning if I start ravaging no need to turn haha just continue to your next attack. My suggestion is to at least redesignate your awsd keys and go at it. For the longest time I just keybinded everything on my numpad. FYI cheapest gamepad you will find a usb numpad most dont think to use it but it works. I would like use number + number in wow never tried in ToR. But the main key points are: 1) Practice 2) Fool around with your keybinds dont just set them and ride sometimes things just make more sense binded somewhere else for example my self heal is shift+space on my Mara but on my Sorc shift + space is a 2min CD buff all depends on what works for you on what class 3) If anything keybind AWSD keyboard turning blows. If I am eating Doritos I use my up down left right arrow keys. Face it we have all snacked during an Operation 4)Realize for awhile you will suck, keybinds take a bit to get used to and you will be looking down at that keyboard quite often. No matter how much you practice when the heat of the moment is on and it comes down to you owning someone and you need that one ability. You will panic. (my apologies for the run on sentence). 5) Have Fun!
  15. I cant speak on 55 pvp (too lazy atm to level through Makeb imo) but I know when 50 was max pvp I enjoyed Lowbie 38+ PvP way better. It was not the gear per say but since some of the players at that time didnt have enough abilities to be Rambo it felt more organized. PUGs seemed to be more worried about the objective versus leaderboard. I have always been a strategy oriented player, trouble is finding a group that is willing to strategize and a leader who is willing to dish out order. In turn have players who are willing to take those orders to win. Took 3 years to find that on WoW, and currently I still have not found that on this game except for one guild when Ranked first came out (Pot5 server). Guild dominated pretty well and came up against some pretty good guilds. After that and the falling out of Ranked being too easy it fell apart with most going to GW2, or quitting MMOs period. It just seems that players in lowbie pvp versus max level are just willing to listen.
