  1. Hopefully this is an easy one. How do I check what my stat bonuses are? I play a Sith Assassin (he's level 50 but I'm still very much a noob) with mostly Columi gear but I don't know what my stat bonuses actually are. I read Dulfy,.net and it says: How do I check to see if my character has these stats?
  2. Hi guys, I'm coming back to swtor after about two years and, being an old man, can hardly remember a thing about playing as an Assassin. I'm currently level 50 and I'm planning on working my way to 55. What's the preferred build type for PvE levelling these days? I can learn all of the rotation and cooldown priorities by myself as long as I know which build I should be going for. I also have (almost) a full set of Columi gear. I take it that this has been superseded by something better? Should I be looking to getting better gear now or concentrate on levelling to 55 and getting the gear later? Any other information on anything worth knowing since the last two years would be much appreciated.

    Temper temper!

I think it's becoming abundantly clear that those of us who maintain level-headedness in PvP WZs are also eloquent, clever, respectful and constructive participants in forum chat. A quick skim of the pages of this thread reveal with abundance the unequivocal truth that we are clearly ranking high in the ratio of word count vs. good content. I feel confident in my claim that it's indubitable that our belief in the simple maxim of "common courtesy costs nothing" is elevating us to forum hero status. Great job, team. Be sure to never let your abilities get to your head, though. It's important that we remain engaged with the little people so that we can further our designs of exposing as many as we can to our conduct.

    Temper temper!

Now that's not quite fair, man. It's a given that we all like winning but there's a good number of people in the world who still have fun when they lose, no matter what the activity is. And take me for example. I'm absolutely still learning PvP although I'm making progress with my skills. My experience just now is trying to emulate the things I'm seeing on YouTube and reading on various forums. I've broken down the various elements of Assassin PvP play (like stealth escapes, circle strafing and the rest) and I'm repeating them over and over until I can perform them without tying my sausage fingers in knots. So at this stage in my PvP "career", I'm getting a big kick out of getting something right. I'm practising these skills really hard in the context of a team game and it feels great to pull off something that helps defend or capture a door, strategic point or whatever. If the team loses - well that's not the preferred finish - but hey, I did XYZ and learned something new so that's great. Now let's move onto learning the next trick. This, for me, is the "fun" aspect of SWTOR PvP. Does that make me less of a player? I really don't think so.

If completely missing the point was a viable PvP skill, you'd be wiping the floor with the best of them, dude.

So I have to start excusing myself now?

    Temper temper!

I've actually had the good fortune to spend time on your team a good few times over the past days. I've seen you consistently come in the top five - if not the top three - on each WZ score board and frankly, you're a treat to watch. Sure, you're prone to a little whining but it's in no way out of order, especially compared to a lot of the idiots out there. And this further qualifies my original post in a way. DarthMaulUK is a good player, and he can get quite vocal at times. As an assassin myself, I've followed him around and I've learned a fair bit already, in as much as what you can learn in the lightning-quick environment of a PvP match. Darth sometimes comes out with the unhelpful, "***" comments but by-and-large, he's a good one to watch if he's on your team. As a matter of fact, Darth might have been in one of the games I was when another player was cussing and swearing at the rest of us for being, and I quote, "Total F*****g S**t F*****s". He happened to be typing this as he himself lay dead. So now you have an unpleasant player in a pot-and-kettle situation. And for what it's worth. I don't pay my £9 a month to make anyone else's team better. I hold absolutely no obligations in that respect. My money goes strictly towards my entertainment, part of which goes into PvP warzones and trying (sometimes with better results than before) to become a better player. Most importantly, I don't pay my sub to endure an angry child's temper tantrums. If I do well for the team and myself, then I'm glad. Sure, it's not as much fun when we lose but that's part of life, but I'm certainly not going to feel bad for the team. Nor would I expect them to feel bad either.

I've seen four people guard one point that's under no threat a all, while everyone else on the team has a hard time trying to keep the other two areas under control. To me, this is also bad play. To my mind, theyre probably just showing up for the six daily WZ's to collect their comms. Nothing I do or say is going to convince them to do otherwise and I'm definitely not going to resort to calling them all the names under the sun. There's nothing you really can do, so why get angry?

    Temper temper!

Guys seriously, If you're the type who gets angry whe your team's losing the PvP WarZone then please just stop. The rage doesn't do you any favours. Sure, we'd all do much better if we had 18 hours per day free time to do nothing but learn how to PvP properly but that just isn't the way the world works. A lot of people play games to relax and have some fun. They might not particularly care about gearing or even how their class plays at its optimum. They just log in to get away from the stress of life and work and they try to enjoy themselves. Getting yourself wound up to the point where you start complaining wildly on chat makes you look like an idiot. An idiot who's a sore loser. Not only that, but when everyone else starts to mock you for it, your temper makes you take the bait every time. So now you're at idiot level 2. Congrats. If you can't handle it then get out. It doesn't make you any less of a man if you accept that PvP isn't for you. It's just wee digital men chasing each other and playing at fighting anyway. It's really not that important after all, eh? Go and do something that puts you at less risk of having a brain haemorrhage . There's a million brilliant video game's out there.
  11. Well, lazy bones. If you'd bothered to look at page three of this folder you have seen this excellent thread on Deception Assassins. But you must be too busy. FWIW, I find Deception Assassins a bit uninspired. Sure, they look good swinging out the Voltaic Slash but to me they're classes "fur coat and no knickers".
  12. Now this gives me excitement for great justice! Many thanks again for your time.
