  1. Found this info useful as well, so thanks guys. Am also looking for RP more than PvP as an old D&D'er. The Guild Quiz should be worth delving into. EU side Lord Calypho was high on population at the time I looked, week and a half ago. But that is not all that counts.
  2. Leaving Dxun BC due to low population. Currently it is between Lord Calypho and Tomb of Freedon Nadd. I am new to MMO's and PvP, and am attracted to the concept of RP-PvP. (Am old time D&D'er) Now I do not want to grind and then find I saddled the wrong horse. How is the community on Lord Calypho? Or should I go for the bigger population of Freedon Nadd and hope to find running mates there? American servers are out due to 8 hour time difference, am at +1hr GMT. Opinions please. Thanks
  3. I am giving away my age here: In the early 1990's a mag called Computer Gaming World ran an article on the scarcity of female gamers, at the time the unfair sex was about 3% of the player base, and there were many and serious discussions on how to involve them. Glad to see that that seems to have changed. Interestingly, Pac Man attracted Those Who Must Be Obeyed more than the shoot em ups of the time, and it had quite a lot of draw in the arcades. Though my attempts to hit on a girl were very much in vain.... They were too busy playing. As for me, I remember Lady Pacman as being viciously difficult, and not being nearly as popular as Pac Man. One Lady I knew could clock Defender's scoreline several times on one coin, and made most men look bad. And if you wonder why I call the curvy gender unfair: You ever dared to arrive late to a date as a man and still get with it? See, I thought so. Now how often have you as a man sat, watching the clock, tapping your foot, only to be all smiles when she makes her late entrance? Point in case. Exactly.
  4. Thank you for the feedback. First: You must point TriDef Game launcher at the launcher.exe file, not the swtor game executable. TriDef will then launch SWToR and use 3d after you enter the game proper. SImple mistake, but there it is. Hope this helps someone else. As for the Samsung S27A950, it did get some reviews complaining about ghosting, This seems to be a timing issue. Frames can take 20-50 or more ms to render, and there are render spikes. Another explanation could be syncing issues with the glasses, though I am theorizing. Personally, my experience has been mixed but good luck to any others interested. Also bear in mind I wear glasses and am 53. This may have an effect. Best of luck all
  5. I cannot even get the game to launch in 3d. adding the SWToR client results in the error "It may not work in TriDef Ignition. Also, since we have to log in via browser, it is impossible to launch the game client separately, so how do I get TriDef to lock on to SWToR. I am running a Samsung s27950d. Running in 2d to 3d mode does give a sort of video effect - and a migraine due to AWFUL ghosting, double images and so on. My Response: 3d is a gimmick, stay away. Besides, as a glasses wearer the whole current tech is just silly. 6 eyes and a Migraine? Come on TriDef. All the same I would appreciate help in getting TriDef to actually start with SWToR, until then the whole idea of 3d gets a very solid thumbs down. ( Just to explain: I bought the Samsung for the higher fps possible from a 3d monitor. A guildmate got me curious about 3d. So far I am NOT impressed but still game for the experience. ) Thanks
  6. 53, retired. Former soldier a looong way back. While I do not have tour shirts, I have the South African cover versions of a few old hits in vinyl. All we ever saw under Apartheid of all the cool music... My first computer was a Spectrum, and I remember programming on that horrible keyboard. I cannot program - sorry script - my current rig worth a damn, neither can I PvP worth a cent. One of the younguns told me in an instance: "You know what you are doing, but you are slow." Dunno whether to laugh or cry. A Twitch RPG game - what a concept. AND I am a fan of AD&D first edition. Anyone remember the endless debates about alignment in the 1980's? About the only thing good about 3.5 was the alignment descriptions. Now they yammer on about rotations and cooldowns - SIGH. I remember handcrafting my Characters' background, complete with code of ethics, looks and preferences in drinks. Amagluglug to the old days. Cheers
  7. Make a requirement to not suck to queue Sorry can't oblige. Really. No. I tried and it let me in anyway. Now how is that my fault?
  8. First: I am the infamous backfill player. I am lvl 27 and found out about PvP gear last 2 weeks or so ago. Could not find the vendor, am not very interested. Cannot afford it after speeder training in any case, do not know who the vendor is for lvl 20 pvp gear if there is such a thing and the stats do not tempt me either. The mantra is: Teach me, train me, give me advice. Unless the bigmouths who are too lazy to roll a RL d20 at the table top are willing to uplift us ignoramuses, SHUT IT. PvP is confusing enough as is, so DO your part guys and otherwise SOCKINITPUT. All I see is a lot of attitude in these forums. And before Bioware DM's take too deep a breath I have rarely seen such poor cookie cutter adventure design. Yes, I am a table top GM of some years experience. Journeyman class, but I know good game design when I see it. Talk to the guys from Obsidian, or better yet the original Planescape team. That was Computer PvE worth the name. PM me, and if someone would get together a few NOOBS and drill us in the basics, whys and wherefores, I would be very grateful. The guilds do not really bother. In the meantime I will wear the Title that you mean as a swear word with pride. And hopefully rile those know it alls into mis-hitting their killer combos. When 20 percent of the damage does the job quite nicely already.
  9. It IS a frustrating role to play. Consider: In all the time I pvp'd I have gotten ONE Mvp vote ever. In PUG's forget about anybody ever guarding you, it does not happen. I have noticed that my stats do not seem to reflect when I Force Armour someone. The damage I prevent does not show in my stats. Why Bioware? My Kill ratio is pretty stable at 2:1 in favour, that is where it stays. And I am actually proud of that stat, because I started MMORPG's on 9 Mar for the first time in my life. And I remember AD&D 1st edition. Well. And I am sad what "ROLE playing" has become in the age of the Internet. So unless you are one of the old guard pipe right down, youngsters. You have no clue. Not about Team play either, buddy. After a while even I get tired of being 3rd from the bottom and being ganked by any cloaker - Come to think of it, WHY can all Sith cloak - at will. Nobody seems to have mentioned so far that the RANGE of heals was cut too. Just remember that to do my job I have to stand still and have Line of Sight. Any other good reasons why there is such a difference in valor between a healer class and a dps? Why should an equally well played healer be the lowest valor of your PC"s?? I noted that stat. Same player, lowest valor of all his PC's And I would just like to ask the other players to recognise what healers do for you, that helps you get your stats. Just be more aware. I am more than a little green glowing number above your head every 4 secs. And when it does not happen then it is "you suckz lol". So teach me, train me, advise me or get out of my face. Healers do want a bit of recognition, too. FYI lvl 25 Sage, to put my comments in perspective. In general I find that leveling is a GRIND. Seen one mad master, seen them all. The 3 same same sub bosses do not help give the illusion of variety. 50's in general sit on their duffs and ignore newbs, leading me to feel that this game offers VERY little below lvl 50. Then: Community, what community? Where is the grouping? 2 words here: No rewards for it, and no incentive to do it. This applies within guilds too. Thanks for listening
