  1. I'm dual spec'd Heal/DPS I ask the group which role they want me to play. It works out pretty well....if i am playing full time healer and constant healing isnt required I pitch in with some damage. But if I am asked to play full time healer I make that my priority.....I do not just heal whenever I feel like it as I am aware that failing my job as a healer will incur the wrath of my peers no matter how much dmg I pitched in. I didnt dual spec out of laziness but the desire to create a stronger character those last few skill blocks at the top of the tree seem negligible to me....the cumulative effects of skills across different trees that buff the same attributes seemed more valuable to me. Plus dual spec'ing is more fun
  2. I don't have force push. I would cc one of them but for some reason he would keep getting free even tho I turned off all AOE attacks for the companion. The way I dealt with that spot went like this: I put companion on passive mode so he doesnt fight, then i shield him, get the attn of the sith and get them to chase me so i can get them out of that tight corner. Then tell companion to fight, then CC, and by that time Qyzen was half dead so straight into healing mode. Once I got them out of the corner, the CC finally stayed in the air where he belonged until the other 2 sith were dead
  3. Morfedd - I appreciate that you took the time to type all that out, but none of it addresses the scenario I posed: several clusters of 3 "strong" sith together. I have finished Quesh and its bonus series and moved on to Hoth. As it turns out I never really had a problem anywhere on Quesh except Attis station, which was the class quest. bossei - I agree, i have not ecountered anything on Hoth that comes even close to the difficulty of Attis station. And like you I am not complaining, I enjoyed the challenge and with the enemies on that station being all sith it should have been so. But like you I did die a lot and it did get me worried...i was afraid the rest of the game would be like that. I have solo'd Heroic2 missions with greater ease than Attis.....and I think its a key point that all the enemies on Attis station were 3-4 levels below me. There is simply no chance I would have gotten past it alone if I were 2 levels lower
  4. Envenra I also do all the same things you mentioned. I do on occasion forget to turn of Q's AOE attacks when I want CC but you can believe after dying a few times at the same spot I do suddenly remember. Anyhow its nice to hear other perspectives, thank you
  5. HumanShield - I actually do make use of all the techniques you mentioned with the only possible exception: I dont know what aggro means. I was eventually able to clear it but only by using a high level stim to boost my presence (increases companion effectiveness) and I've never had to use a stim before. As a sentient you wear armor and could probably tank if you wanted to. A sage has no armor and relies on a tank and the problem has been that my tank couldnt survive 3 strong sith at once even with me acting as a full time healer. But if I split the enemies and pull one of the sith toward myself I cant heal the tank and myself and fight my enemy all at the same time, and we both end up dying. I think you would have less of a problem with this scenario since u can wear armor. I don't think I'm an expert player but I also think if my play style were that bad then i would have run into this problem a lot sooner thank level 40. Pattypuppet - where do you find orange gear? And by hilt you mean the hilt of the lightsaber? bliapis - I notice none of you mentioned whether you split your skill points 50/50 between two different trees?? I am starting to suspect this might be the problem but so far i dont have anyone to confirm or deny because it doesnt look like anyone else has done this
  6. I'm sure gear isnt the issue bcuz I just started this planet and I have the highest gear I could find on Balmorra. Even the heroic missions there couldnt give me better gear. I am guessing you did not split your skill points between 2 different trees?
  7. I'm a lvl 40 consular, reached planet Quesh and suddenly there are normal (not heroic) missions that I simply cannot solo anymore. I have solo'd all the way up until now. The disturbing thing is the enemies of Quesh are like level 36 and I'm 4 levels ahead of them but some missions like Attis Station have 3 "strong" sith bunched together or 1 elite sith and 1 strong sith and even if I cc one of them I cannot pull it off: the elite will kill my companion faster than I can heal him and with 3 strong I lift one and the other two split up and go after us one on one. I'm wondering if the game was designed to force you to cooperate in a group on higher level planets or if I caused this problem myself by splitting my skill points between healing and DPS about 50/50 so I'm not super strong in either category but just medium strength in both, which maybe for this game simply will not work?? Any advice?
  8. Thank you everyone...I feel like i just learned a fundamental piece of the game i should have learned like at level 9....I'm a dunce It sounds like all of you let your companion run on autopilot.....I have seen people talking in forums about how important it is to "control your companion". Do any of you do that? I think it would be impossible to be effective while trying to manually manage the companion's buttons during a fight along with my own and still pull it all off without any pauses/breaks in between spellls....and such pauses only cause the fight to last longer which is most often a bad thing. Thoughts?
  9. Oh lemme count the ways! J/K But there really are many reasons, most of them are related. 1) Several times have I gone halfway through a flashpoint only to have the team get squeamish and QUIT halfway through because they died once and they dont like spending money on equipment repairs. (**Whiny voice** "repairs are expensive!") 2) I waste so much time looking for a group instead of playing the game. If I finally find a person willing to group but we still need a 3rd, we might then need to spend another 10 minutes to find a 3rd person, during which time the 1st might get impatient and decide to start a mission while he's "waiting" or simply leave altogether. Then, either I wasted 20 minutes standing around trying to chat with strangers, or else my group gets to stand around and wait for this guy to finish his mission. 3) I often group up with people who are just in a rush to race through it all, which denies me the ability to immerse and fully take in the experience. These people are running to collect everything first, flip every switch first, get the conversation over with, and so on and so forth. They turn what was supposed to be an entertaining story into a chore that isnt much different from doing the dishes. 4) well actually there are more, but I dont wanna turn this into a gigantic lecture. Sorry if I've already done that. I'm a little curious in return: why do you like grouping so much?
  10. Kranz that explains it I guess.....since rejuvenate has 100% chance to grant conveyance, i interpreted that as a passive skill that would be always on as long as you have points in the rejuvinate skill. I will check and see if the activation time does go down after casting rejuvinate. Sorry everyone.. P.S. that may explain why customer support did not even respond to my in-game ticket after 4 days....
  11. Zorpin: yes he has taunt. I've never changed companions, and he has always been able to grab the attn of at least most of the enemies before. If he is now only increasing threat for one enemy....then I don't know what has changed, or how to fix it. Magus_d: yes, i do exactly like you say. It has been my playstyle all along to send him in first and double team the same guy, going through them one at a time. deathdisciple: how do you disable or re-enable the companion's skills? I did not even know this was possible or where to do it.
  12. actually no....i went back and solo'd 3 flashpoints because like the OP i couldnt find a group willing to do them. After each one....my quest/mission reward was +5 xp points. It was actually a bit annoying considering it takes like 40 minutes to complete one
  13. ....bump....bcuz i cannot find this thread on the forum
  14. Has anyone else noticed this? I have a consular....and I put points into the skill on the healing path - a skill called "conveyance"....which says that it will reduce the activation time of the healing spell "deliverance" by one full second. I filled the rank out completely. There was NO reduction in the activation time of "deliverance". None at all. I did not make a mistake or overlook anything.....I was careful to note the activation time both immediately before and after selecting the skill point. When no change occurred I logged out and back in....still no change. Has anyone else noticed this?
