  1. This. Aiming is different to backpeddling imo. Both achieve separate things. Backpeddling is a bad form of kiting and straffing should always be used. Aiming is another entity entirely and sometimes backpeddling minutely for adjustment is faster.
  2. So how does straffing help align me when my objective is to be exactly in-line with the target, such as when I use FT? Sorry but straffing is less than optimal here as it always places you are an angle to the target. I personally think backpeddling is terrible, but I don't think the OP is describing backpeddling. He is minutely adjusting his position to get better aim. In that circumstance pressing backwards is more effective than straffing and then adjusting. In that instance you are adding more movement to the equation and hence slowing yourself down for the end result; to FT as soon as possible as accurately as possible.
  3. @OP - I find that I occasionally nudge my toon backwards by very quickly hitting "S" a couple of times to line up a good flamethrower. This to me isn't 'backpeddling' in the true sense of the word as I'm not running away, I'm correcting my aim with minute movements. I have found this is better than missing the first initial tick of FT as I can sometimes do when I allign it while in use. I have noticed absolutely no decrease in performance or viability in pvp doing this, as it take less than 1/4 a sec to complete and ensures my full FT does damage unless it gets interrupted.

I just don't understand why everyone feels the need for an AoE CC. It's something that sould be given to certain classes, and those that don't should have other unique abilities that are also sought after. Hemogenization of abilities is never a good thing for me so the toning down of nades is a great first step.

While I would be happier if they just remove them from the game I'm glad this change is happening at the least. Not every class should have an AoE stun ability...isn't that the reason you bring someone who can? Lets not normalise all classes and abilities and everyone can do the same thing.
  6. Hi Eric, I logged into my BH approx 1 hour ago, then logged out to the character select screen and set the character transfer in motion. I was not forced from the Character to the server selection screen. I received an error and now my BH is locked and nothing shows up in the view transfer history. I was able to successfully transfer and rename (where required) all of my other toons barring the one I am raiding on tonight. I also didn't log onto any of the toons that were successfully transferred but I did start the transfer for one of them from the character select screen which is why I know it should have spat me back to the sever selection screen. I also have never attempted to copy my toons to the PTS.
  7. So many people are complaining about bolster when they have flat out said it isn't working properly. Yes, this is terrible planning on their behalf (why anyone expects anything more from BioWare after everything else is beyond me) but saying bolster is ***** and they need to get rid of it doesn't make any sense. No one has seen what their actual bolster is supposed to be like. There is no way they are going to design a pvp system that allows PvE gear to perform better. Anyone that thinks otherwise has rocks in their head. The current iteration is full of bugs and needs to be sorted, however that doesn't mean the final result is going to look anything like it! They have already stated their intentions. PvP gear will always perform better than PvE gear, but they wanted to narrow the gap. Why don't we actually see what the final unbugged result looks like before claiming bolster is the root of all evil. That isn't advocating their implementation of a terrible, buggy aweful system. Whoever did that needs to be sacked. But I certainly am looking forward to more equal pvp and not having to carry a bunch of recruit geared players every second game!
  8. This completely. Anyone who doesn't pvp to try their skills against another in a relatively equal setting is just a bully who gets a kick of of beating up people with an unfair advantage imo. I would like to see these guys in real life be stuck naked in a ring weaponless while someone walks in wearing full plate and is mentally retarded yet still wails on them. I bet the gear difference is the first thing the start screaming at =) But it's only a game right, not real life. Okay - so you can only pick on people in a digital environment, good for you!!
  9. /signed I do not see why they would revert PvP back to proc/ on use relics when they had such issues with then and adrenals on launch.
  10. Is it so much to ask that you post these things in Dev Tracker where, you know, dev comments are compiled in one neat place. Especially a time correction as people are at work and don't always have the time to search every section of the forum for dev updates. Most people would logically think that important dev notices would, you know, be placed in the dev tracker. Clearly someone doesn't know...
  11. Honestly they got absolutely ripped for designing bad armour and then Daniel 'Absolutely' Erikson came out and said that the next expansion would see a dramatic increase in design quality. What makes it worse is that this went through a QA process and not just 1, but an entire team of people think this stuff looks good. They need to implement regular urinalysis testing at Austin as those guys have to be on drugs to think anything in those sets look cool.
  12. So glad someone else noticed this. What made it even better was the perpetuation of 'Heresay' in later posts =)
  13. As I have stated in my previous posts, which may not have not noticed - his ideas were terrible! I'm not denying that. But why on earth would someone go to the top teams when the first input was nothing but a tantrum. A long winded, self absorbed one at that. Taking your logic further: If I want to have a football tournament amoungst local teams I should by rights as the professionals their opinions and if they will participate? I'm sorry, but this is a game and someone can host a party if they like without the need for anyone elses approval. The only way to have some 8 man fun is through ranked. Maybe people realise they aren't the best but still want to do some 8 man pvp. Sure, they'll get beaten by the better teams, and rightly so, but why should the top teams feel the need to intentially isn't catered just for them? And getting upset because you feel you're a top pvper and someone didn't get your confirmation first is just egotistical, man. If you're good, simply show up and let your wins prove it. If someone asks your opinion or you just have some advice to offer, do it politely. The guy was simply trying to get some action happening and rather than help out all he got was insulted because it wasn't fleshed out properly, rather than people just saying 'hey dude, have you thought this through completely...?' Just because it's a ranked competition doesn't necessarily mean it's only for the pro's; especially considering there is no ranking system or other arena available for events to be held that is separate from the top teams. If you think the comp is beneath you, doon't set out to intentially ruin it just because you can. You might as well walk along the beach and kick people's sand castles over because you don't think they are worthy of your very veiwing. Execpt then you would have to face that person rather than hide behind a keyboard.
  14. I was more referring to the comment that the guy organising the event needs to get the approval of the 'top teams' before it would be viable. This game is not LoL and has no ranks, ladders or any means other than people taking the initiative to organise events themselves to match players against equally skilled players. Rated is definitely for competative play but intentially going into someones comp with the sole purpose of ******** in their cereal is simply childish. Partake in the tournament normally, win it and try and help those that attended to get better. That is the only way you're going to generate interest in rateds considering the low pop this game has against other competative games. I agree with you that losing to a better team is fine and if you try rated's, expect that to happen. Just don't be an absolute @sshat about it or intentially grief others that are trying to get into the scene. No one starts at the top and if you want new blood to come through the ranks for better competative play then it is in your best interest to at the very least not be a pr!ck to them and god forbid, even lend a hand...
  15. Keep at it mate and so what if people comes in to try and ruin everything. They are only ruining the game for themselves as it will cause fewer people to do rated's and they will be stuck circle jerking with the same people over and over while others find different ways to enjoy the game. The autonomy the internet provides will always shelter cowards unfortunately. Personally I would be very interested in private rated tournaments, however I think untli you are well established and it's proven you can organise/ run one efficiently asking for $7 mil will deter a lot of players. I would also suggest sticking with an 8 man format and having someone on their vent to verify they aren't cheating (as much as that allows). Once a couple of tourney's have been a success I think you'll find more than enough willing players to start putting credits on the line. Good luck and I'll keep my eye out for you =)
