  1. I agree, communication will be sparse, but the next Operation is slated to release *this* month. Supposedly with F2P soon to follow. We have little to no information regarding what will be included in the patch other than it will contain the OP, there are no patch notes, the test server is down, and F2P is just around the corner. While they aren't required to give us any detailed information, if they don't want to use the format suggested, rolling patch notes would have a MUCH larger impact on the community. Let's be honest, if they have NO IDEA whats going into this months patch by now, I would expect it to be a major failure. It wouldn't have to include every little detail, just a overall break down of what they are positive will be going live. As they get new information they can add to it, or remove from it respectively. This would be the first MMO I have ever played where informing the player base of whats coming is not only am extremely low priority, but simply doesn't seem to happen at all. Obviously I'm not gonna threaten to quit because they don't want to keep us informed... but currently all we have to look forward to is secrets and innuendo. There are just too many pessimists out there who find comfort in assumi the sky is falling to just ignore.
  2. Well TBH I wasn't reviewing the game itself, it has its obvious flaws. Like I stated, its new so the amount of information being provided is going to be exaggerated, but this is also not their first rodeo. While the amount of information will decline over time, that doesn't mean that the idea in itself is bad. So having an issue completely unrelated to the topic at hand invalidates anything they could possibly do? Sure.
  3. Just because it doesn't have exactly what we want, doesn't mean the idea cant be used to provide what we want. Open your mind a bit, it doesn't have to be an exact duplicate of the page, just use the idea as it would pertain to SWTOR. I'd take a 1 page blurb like this over 15 posts a day of "We are definitely aware of [insert Issue Here], and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. If you notice something that you're having an issue with, please make sure you report it via the in-game Customer Service portal", "Hi folks, we've been seeing some reports about this specific issue, in order to more directly look at this issue we would like to request players with this issue submit a ticket and include a DX Diag." or the "We do not currently have any new information regarding [insert Issue Here]. However, we know this is something that people are definitely very excited about and interested in, we will definitely keep you updated as more becomes available." I have stated nothing about entitlement, nor have I made any demands. I have simply made a suggestion based on what they are ALREADY attempting poorly.
  4. I know one of the major issues with the player base is communication atm. Players feel like they aren't being kept "in the loop" and like BW/EA is "holding back" information that really shouldn't be. BW thinks the answer to this is to increase the dev responses, which helps, but most of these answers don't exactly lead the players to know what the priorities are or if the forum police are just trying to appease the public. I would like to suggest that BW take a page from one of its newest competitors in the MMO market Guild Wars 2. Since its release they have been keeping players informed as to whats going on in a "State of the Game" page. This page is listing out the larger player impacting issues currently known. It doesn't break down every single bug, or list out player gripes, or even let the players comment or discuss the issues listed. It just breaks things down for the players so they know whats up. It even lists some things players are extremely interested in, and explains why they are not a priority atm. Updates have been going on to this page on a nearly daily basis, which I expect will slow down in the coming weeks since the game is just after release, but even once every week or 2 is acceptable. If you look at the page its pretty short and to the point on each issue, and couldn't have taken someone more than 10-20 minutes to slap together. Personally I do not expect BW to resolve every issue as they are found, or to inform players of every single thing they are working. There are some major and minor issues in the game that players are worried about. A minor thing like this, telling us where your priorities are, what your focus is currently on, what you are NOT working on currently due to other issues, etc. would be a major relief to many of us. ***Or just give us a patch notes list that is updated regularly as things change, or fall through the cracks.
  5. Add dueling around the training dummies. Combat is already expected there, and it makes it so players dont have to fly off planet to have some fun.
  6. Again I have to respond to this just like last time this response was given... running a forum of my own I know just how simple it is to add additional forums and folders. In barely more time than it took me to type this response out I could have created a new folder for every current server out there. It takes seconds to create a new forum. It doesn't increase cost to have additional forum sections. There is no debugging process, so there is no real need for "testing". Having more places to post doesn't directly equal more people posting, so it wouldn't exactly make sense to require more staff to moderate. Having specific server forums would allow players to better control and organize where they are posting, which could actually HELP moderation. Having specific server forums would also allow players to more easily create individual server events, increasing player interaction. I am trying to grasp this idea of "We want to add these new forums. We will just add them later." If you know you want them. If you are saying it WILL happen. If it takes little to no time to accomplish it. If it costs nearly nothing to create (save the cost of the person who spent that minute putting them all up). What is the purpose of dragging your feet??? It just baffles me. ***Note: Personally don't care about individual server forums, just severely dislike the proverbial feet dragging when its not at all necessary.
  7. Would make no sense to remove them. They aren't overly difficult. They don't take AWAY from players that don't play them. The rewards aren't overpowered. Some players simply think that if THEY don't like something its not possible that anyone else can like it either. Is current space combat perfect? No. Does it have a place in game? Of course! Not every aspect of every game must appeal to the majority. Even if only 25% of the player base enjoys them, that's still a SIGNIFICANT amount of players that enjoy them.
  8. I dont think the number of people who have only done the cartel space mission is as high as you might think. There are still QUITE a few of my guildies who run the full list of space missions dailies every day so they can trade the tokens for the EC level crafting mats box every other day. It does have a purpose, and can earn people a pretty decent amount of money currently by selling those mats outright, or crafting BH mods to sell. Will that carry over with the new OP? I don't know. I've never really heard anyone say "MAN I CANT WAIT TO DO MY SPACE DAILIES!!!" and if there is no option to get the next tier of mats I'm not sure people will care too much about the BH ones with the new gear levels.
  9. I was referring to new players, not existing ones. The point of F2P is to drive new players into the game. Obviously if you already purchased the game you wont have to buy the game again.
  10. Your position is understandable to a point, but what about when p2w becomes the requirement? When you cant compete with said players because the gear they buy is far outperforming yours? When raids kick you because you don't have the special edition Revan lightsaber with the +50 bonus to all stats? When pvp becomes unbearable because the only way to possibly survive is to pay cash? Are these extreme situations? Yes they are, but they are also commonplace in p2w games.
  11. For just $0.50 per day you could sponsor an underprivileged child like little Veradun here. $0.50 per day can provide Veradun with nutritious meals, toiletries, school supplies, and medication. Please help children like Veradun survive in these trying times....
  12. For me its being able to purchase any item that is either close to or equivelant to end game stats. It would mean players would be able to BUY the end game gear instead of working for it. I could be wrong, but I dont think a large portion of the players consider P2W to be turning on "god mode".
  13. I didn't play Star Trek, but one of my guildies told me he stopped playing it because they went with a pay to win model. If SWTOR switches to that model I wont really care HOW well they do because I wont be a part of the game any longer
  14. Cant take that article seriously because of this comment alone: "The conversion of Star Wars to a free-to-play game has the potential to actually drive overall revenues higher," notes Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities. "We think that a franchise such as Star Wars has the potential to attract 30 million or more monthly active users (MAUs), suggesting that the free-to-play version of the game has the potential to generate $120 —150 million in annual revenues. … We envision that ultimately Star Wars will be free-to-play for all players, and we expect that it will be able to attract at least 10 million MAUs indefinitely, with upside to perhaps 50 million." Are they serious? They think that transitioning SWTOR to F2P will raise the # of players by anywhere from 10x to 50x???
  15. Lets be honest now... every MMO out there is just a "grind" at max level. You have 4 choices, creating your own content (RPing), PvPing, gear grinding, or socializing. This isn't anything new, the only major difference between SWTOR and the other MMO's I have played is that SWTOR made it TOO easy to get the gear due to commendations.
