  1. I fixed the title, updated the description, and am now bumping this thread with my information as an example. Example post redhuntinghat: Time Zone: EST Availability: Most times on the weekends and friday evenings, and limited on Monday-Thursday (usually between 4pm and 10pm EST). Preferred gamplay role: Anything but tank (unless it is an assassin/shadow) Preferred RP role: I play everyone and anyone, all genders and all sexualities, though I tend to prefer males. RP experience (list): -5 years of dedicated RP in CoH Any idea for a scenario?: Plenty! I'd love to do a crazy/straight man dynamic or any other foil. I'd like to avoid having any force characters, but I'm open to it. To put it in terms of classic Star Wars dynamics, In order of most to least preferred would Han Solo/Chewbacca, Luke/Leia, Leia/Han, Luke/Han, then Luke/Ben. How to contact me: -Initially inbox me, then I can give you my skype
  2. While this is being decided, we should try to firmly move toward making groups and trying to start this before we lose people. Especially since the holidays are coming up; this wouldn't be the first time holiday madness has caused the end of an infant guild of mine. I am EST, and Mon-Friday the best times for me are between 21:00 and 4:00 GMT (or 4pm to 11pm EST). I can push a little earlier or later, but not by very much. Also Friday and Saturday are best for me, but also during the day on Sunday and weekday evenings. From what I gather, Zanderwright is an EU player and is more available for earlier times, Jenzali is EST but gets home late some days, Mando is EST but would prefer earlier because of work in the morning, shadowdemon is flexible and available for any US peak hours, and I have no idea about Anaan, Sonofbelz, and Druidclaw. Perhaps we should try to determine teams now based on time issues? If we have no other EU players, perhaps we may have to have an earlier group (late for Zander) that he would have to work around. Most of our players seem to be EST and CST, so maybe we should base this guild around peak EST/CST times? So in conclusion, could you guys also post your preferred hours, your time zone, and preferred days of the week along with your vote?
  3. My vote would have to be to eliminate Republic-Empire; to divide us this early on will make collaboration harder, teams less flexible, and will make us much more likely to fall under and fail. There are other ways to have fun rivalries and competitiveness without the risks and limitations that come with being cross-faction.
  4. Awesome, we have a great number! So how are we doing this, are we doing two teams of 4? (or one of 3 until shadowdemon confirms or we find someone else). Or are we changing our organization? Also, are we going to just have people do whatever class they want and allow for repeats, or did you guys want to have each one of the 8 of us take a different Advanced Class? Either way I totally call Smuggler or Imperial Agent Oh and if we are doing two teams we should figure out who is with who, and if we do the AC thing then we can match up people based on the classes they choose.
  5. I'm confirming I am interested. And as far as faction goes, I'm really fine either way. If you guys want to do Empire I'm fine with that.
  6. Sounds good, hopefully we can do a bit more planning this time to make sure it doesn't fail as soon as one person goes inactive! I think we should just stay all on one faction. Preferably Republic, but I'm open to either. Also, maybe we could try doing squads instead of groups? A "squad" can consist of 2-4 people who level together, but we could have a weekly level cap and every week we have a guild night. That way it allows for more growth, flexibility both IC and IRL, and we can still be able to do the original concept of running through the storyline together.
  7. BACKGROUND: This is a place for people who are looking for people to RP with on a small, intimate scale. I made this as an attempt to provide an easy, clear way for people of various backgrounds, styles, and levels of experience to find people they can connect with. Whether you are new and have no idea where to start, are just looking to RP with new people, have an idea for an arc but no people to participate with, or are just curious, feel free to leave a reply! How does it work?: Everyone should include as much of the following that they feel comfortable with sharing to ensure the best match: username Time Zone: EST, PST, GMT, etc... Availability: Describe the times of day works best for you as well as worst times, in terms of your own time zone. Preferred gamplay role: Tank, melee, healer, etc... Preferred RP role: "No aliens", "I only play males", "I prefer Republic characters", etc. RP experience: -List credentials Any idea for a scenario?: Describe what kind of roles you would or would not like to play, any specific story you may have in mind, or any other way to briefly let others know if they would be a good match for your playstyle. How to contact me: -List possible methods (See my post for an example) NOTE This is NOT a place to advertise your guild or for guild recruiting.
  8. So who is active and who is not, which group is deemed active, and who else is interested? How far along is Group 1, and is Group 2 around at all anymore? For the purpose of reorganization I think we should make a new forum. I'd make one myself but I wanted to see what you guys thought first.
  9. I'm still here, just let me know when you guys want to do this again. And perhaps since the interest seems to be there perhaps we can form a Group 4? We could work in conjunction and perhaps even form a guild. Just a crazy idea
  10. It really isn't about the character you play, but rather about how you play your character. Keep in mind these virtues of RPing that I use and should apply to any character, whether RPed as an unimportant mook or a king. Virtues: -Honesty~ Be honest about your character; if so and so happend in their past, how would they act? What are his/her strengths? Weaknesses? Are these proportional, and do they show? Does your character feel sincere, or if not, have a valid and concious reason for feeling insincere? Is your character realistic and plausible within your own universe? -Creativity~ Try to provide new, insightful, or exciting ideas to the table through your character. Inspiration can be drawn from anywhere, from movies to art to your personal life to music etc, and a great character is one who embodies an idea or a spirit. Unique characters work best when they are unique not to the lore, but rather the way similar characters are played by other players. Notice other players tend to have very angsty and gritty Sith? Then play a more light-hearted one who sincerely believes in the goals of the Empire, or perhaps a cold and reserved manipulator. But that doesn't mean you should play a 1,000 year old demi-god in the body of a sexy twi'lek girl who only wears a bikini and rides a rancor. Ever. -Respect~ Giving other people time to flesh out their character and be "in the spotlight" marks the difference between a mature and an immature player. Having great ideas isn't just enough; one must also share the spotlight and realize their character is not the protagonist but one of many characters. One must not just talk; one must also learn to listen! A great guide to avoid being en eye-roll inducing, cliche, unlikable, whiny, and nauseating character is the the Mary Sue Litmus Test. Every fiction writer, from RPers to novel writers, should use this as a tool. Most of all, if your character's biggest flaw is people hate them because they are "too beautiful", "too smart", "too rich", "too lucky", or a combination of these, a serious retool may be needed.
  11. Yeah sorry about not showing up, weekdays are a bit unpredictable for me. Fridays and Saturdays are my best bet, but I can also do tonight and Thanksgiving night because I'm off.
  12. Hey guys sorry for the last minute notice, but I got a sudden downpour of assignments that I really need to work on so I won't make it tonight. I don't want to ruin your night so please feel free to go on without me if you guys want; I can easily catch up.
  13. As long as both players are in agreement with the validity of the scenario, who cares if it doesn't exist in game? Hell, most of my RP is plausible within the lore but is not directly featured in game mechanics. I treat my class story as "non-canon".
