I disagree about the trolls. I think the most vocal are the trolls, at least on the forums. In game, whether it's SWTOR, or one of the many others I play, the people I talk to and group with are almost universally nice and helpful, with a few exceptions. The exceptions are the vast minority.

"PvE gear is starter PvP gear. That's how bolster works."-Soul-of-Flames- This. And you learn how to PvP while earning your WZ comms. The 162 black hole gear you can buy on Rishi is perfect as starter gear and can be bought for basic comms. There's your starter PvP set. The bolster will help you greatly. I have found mostly really helpful and friendly persons in PvP WZ's. Maybe it's my attitude, I always ask for pointers, ask how I can help, who I can guard, etc. And I flat out say at the beginning of the WZ that I'm a noob. If you are new to PvP in this game and your ego won't let you admit it, perhaps you should see a therapist about that. I know a good one....

I would agree that the most vocal persons in the MMO gamer group can be very toxic. They seem to be of the entitlement crowd that don't want to spend 15$/month for many hours of fun gameplay. They seem to think all of this should be provided for FREE! Which is BS. You get what you pay for. If you don't want to pay for a game, go play Runescape. It's crap. I tried it. Didn't like it. Even the console crowd have to pay, they pay for the service, then they pay for the game.

Oh, and if you expect to win every time, well, you won't. There are other people that are better than you. It's a game, it's not perfect, it is what it is. If it gets you upset, you should not do it.

The way to get started in PvP currently is to go spend basic comms on Black hole (rating 162 gear). Buy yourself a full set. Use that for PvP, because it will let the bolster apply to you correctly. Anything over 162 and you take an expertise hit. Expertise is the main thing you need to worry about when entering WZ's. I got to 1900 Expertise just by doing that, and you will at least have a chance while you collect WZ comms to get your first set of PvP gear. Once you get the 162 gear, the first thing I bought from the PVP vendor was my mainhand weapon, and that helped my Expertise even more. You are shooting for max Expertise of 2018. Once you have your 162 rating gear, I suggest you enter the WZ and follow someone else around, learn to use the target of target or focus target. Heal them, assist them with their targets, learn the maps, etc. These are the things I learned that helped me the most in PvP thus far. I am on the Shadowlands server, feel free to whisper me if you're ever on there.

So last night, at around midnight, EST-US, I joined up with two other guys and we did a whole bunch of dailies, weeklies, and FP's. Spent probably three hours doing it. It was great. Made almost 500k credits! We had an extra spot that got filled by two other people who came and went as they pleased. Only way it could have been better was if they had gotten on my TS3 server so I wouldn't have had to do so much typing. This was on Shadowlands server. Gonna see if I can get a group together and on TS3 for some unranked PvP this week. That will be fun! Just figured I'd make a post about my reality, on Shadowlands. Other opinions may differ, but this was my experience, and it was GOOD!

Meh, they got rid of stagger. I don't use it. I do hate how companies are always worried about "balance." You know what? Make the classes as you want them, we'll figure out how to kill off the various different kinds of classes! Get them close-ish...then LEAVE THEM ALONE! We'll figure it out with our great big giant hive mind! /rantoff Not really all that upset, because the Guardian changes don't seem all that sweeping.

So what are they doing? Do they just sit at the base or what? I thought there was a timeout in GSF, where if you didn't do something in x minutes you got a penalty....
