  1. Now THAT, may indeed be a WoW Killer However, and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this game, this will NOT be a WoW killer, for many reasons. First, it is too new. People do not have the faith in the servers staying up, and the game continuing to run, that WoW has already. Seven years of history is a lot, for a game, and people will remember that. Also, remember that this is a different style of game. Say what you want about the game play, but it is. Remember, this is not supposed to be all about the endgame, though some will make it that way, or even the raids, or PVP, or bosses, but the STORY. The trip to the end. Can some of the WoW players even tell WHAT the story is? I know that some cannot, and that's fine. Different styles. Different genres, as well. Some people say "Elves, pshah! Give me something better!", and others say "Jedi? Sith? Light sword wielding mystical junk that holds the universe together saber jockies? PSHAH! Give me my pointy ear elves!". Some will just not be interested. And last, but not least, is the fact that this game has not grown yet (heck, hasn't even RELEASED yet), whereas WoW, with 7 years of buildup, has released multiple expansions. So... a threat to a part of the market? Absolutely. Inspiration for other companies (or, perhaps, even different project groups within EA/BW?) to rise up to the challenge? Perhaps. But this one title is not going to end Wow.
  2. Well, then, perhaps becoming less busy when a product is interesting to you would be advised then, yeah?
  3. I can understand that myself, nearing the 3-0 mark However, I look at it as.. I lack as much free time as I used to, and, while I hate waiting for things such as EGA, I think its a bigger waste of my little free time to be all aggro about something I cannot change. Hmm. Perhaps juvenile bootcamp DID help after all! ^_^ (BTW... not meant as a stab at you at all, quite the opposite, in fact)
  4. Last wave was sent at 1PM PST... perhaps just email delays.
  5. And fun shall be had, once you get in. You paid for the game, which launches on the 20th. Oh, you bought the game FOR EGA? That's ok too, cause it isn't the 20th yet. THERE SHALL BE FUN!
  6. You're absolutely right, but if those servers are filled with pre-order now, then more later from launch, and THEN die, when they could have just not been opened to begin with, it will probably affect more people. Also, we are able to pick any server we want, as long as it is available when we get access, so it could be that some people are joining servers, playing a bit, then quitting and going to another server, so they are just opening up new servers as truly necessary. I'm not entirely sure, these are some of the reasons that I have seen mentioned, and make sense, so I'm just putting ideas out.
  7. Because then if people dont stick around, they have to shut down or merge servers... resulting in the same angry people problem, just later, where there are more people involved.
  8. This I can understand and agree with. There may have been better ways to do this, but then, there may not have. The only REAL other option they would have had to satisfy these people that are threatening to leave would have been to open the floodgates. This would have resulted in login server and gameplay server crashes, queues, etc, and in the end, would likely have resulted in longer delays to play than this system. *MY* take on the people threatening to leave? To be honest, and not nearly as negative as my being blunt would be, they are bluffing. In many cases, not all. Many of them simply want to threaten to hit Bioware where it hurts... their pocket... thinking that they will get EGA this way, which, obviously, will not work. The vast majority of these raging individuals are mostly likely simply angry that they weren't in the first group, or upset that they aren't in yet. I personally think... its a game. Its meant to relax us, not stress us out. We can't make the email get here sooner, so why worry about it? EGA will happen when it happens, and then we will move on, probably away from the ghost town that these forums will likely be
  9. While I agree with this, they have said, quite correctly, that this information is compartmentalized, and will remain an internal company affair, not public. This is likely to prevent any early knowledge from getting into competitor's hands, prior to public earnings statements being issued. As a side note, a common misconception that I see being thrown around a lot, is the idea that anyone was EVER promised 5 days of EGA. What was promised was "UP TO 5 days", which takes on completely new meanings. What I would like BW to do is just to send us our emails the night before, so that we know when we are getting in. But I imagine that this practice would have an adverse effect of having however many people that are in the queue for that wave jumping into the login server exactly at the same time, which is exactly what is in the process of being avoided. As for the fairness, I did post earlier, but I feel that the only place that this will really have a MASSIVE impact is in PVP play. And, while I see that as VERY unfortunate for them, they will have the option, like any other group of players, to create a new character on a newly opened server, where they can try to level with the power-levellers and people that are racing to the top. Open communication from BioWare about this issue is tricky and finicky, considering all the internal policies around this form of subject, as well as the desire to communicate clearly, without leaving the raging people any room to misinterpret what is being said and spread misinformation that could, conceivably, cost the company money in the long term. However, communication from the developer is a big thing for me, and has made and broken games for me in the past. Given BW's past with games, I, for one, will not allow what I see as a slip up to ruin this game or any of their games for me, though it will always be there in the back of my mind. Ermm... /novel?
  10. It's the journey that matters, not the destination. No resets are needed or necessary. On the PVP servers I understand there are some concerns about balance, but that is nothing that some hard work cannot fix. So, as many others have said, first come, first serve. If I want to get in and out of line with my groceries at the store, I get there before the other people. If I wanted earlier access to the game, I should have pre-ordered earlier.
  11. Boring conversation anyways. Off to find something new and exciting while waiting for an email that I'm pretty positive I won't get for a few more days ^_^
  12. *paid. Also...just because YOU PAID for something obviously doesn't mean that BioWare feels you PAID for the same thing. And since they made it VERY clear how this system would work, you lose. Should have PAID more attention.
  13. Oh I know, I'm just going to start correcting his spelling and not wasting more braincells on clearly pointless arguments with him. I imagine his facing turning red every time, and it makes me giggle a little
  14. LLOL Thanks for the GOOD idea. My GF has been thinking about it too...
