  1. Did I mention that my highest-level toon is now dead to me because I'm sick of waiting the past 7 months to move it to the server I play on?
  2. I waited patiently for months and months for the opportunity to consolidate my highest-level toon (with about 200 epic artifice recipes) onto the same server as my friends, where all the toons I actually play are located. I got especially excited when I heard the free transfer announcement, and I figured the little bit of extra functionality of paid transfers couldn't be more than a month or so after the free transfers went live. But, I now no longer care about my old toon. It's too late now. GG bioware.
  3. For me at least, it is quickly becoming irrelevant whether they ever allow people to consolidate their characters on the same server. My main toon that is "stuck" on another server is now lower level than my main toon on the server I play on. The only reason to want the "stuck" toon is to use the 200-ish epic artifice recipes. But the whole purpose of those was so that I could level all my alts and have great lightsabers/offhands while I leveled. Since I've now leveled all the toons I will probably ever play, that is no longer on the table. That only leaves money making from the artificer. But by the time he's on the server I play on, I will be sick of playing the game, all my toons will be leveled and geared, and I won't need cash anymore. So in a nutshell, all I lost was the first 6 months or so I spent playing this game. NO BIGGY RIGHT?
  4. this happens to me constantly, sometimes 1 in every 4 warzones. I agree it seems to have to do with using shift as a modifier key. I wonder if it's because we're engaging sticky keys. I just went into Windows 7 accessibility options and noticed there are a lot of assisted-input modes that are toggled by certain keypresses (i.e. besides stickykeys -- shift 5 times; there's also filter keys -- shift for 8 seconds; a way to lock modifier keys; etc.) .. There are a ton of nested submenus including some hyperlinked text innocently concealing further important settings, but overall there were at least 5 things that sounded like they should be turned off. Hopefully this will do something.
  5. I'm sure you felt that this "analysis" was quite brilliant, but it is devoid of sense. Your meritless comments in this thread have failed to bring any insight whatsoever to the discussion. Congratulations on all your success.
  6. Obviously what is in the hearts and minds of gamers is a total mystery that confounds even the most brilliant philosophers, market analysts, and other thinkers, but if I had to go out on a limb and take a crazy guess, I'd say he was expecting that this MMO would provide a setting in which he could play an RPG-style game -- complete with other players -- without having to start over from scratch at Level Zero with zero credits because of huge mistakes and miscalculations by the publisher or game dev.
  7. Cool story bro but WHEN CAN I TRANSFER ALL MY TOONS ON TO ONE SERVER? To date I still have months of effort, especially developing crafting recipes, WASTED as my high level toon sits on a server where I don't know anybody, do not play, and do not have much in the way of assets. MONTHS WASTED because of your inability to maintain stable server populations, jerks. I still don't have a lvl 50 toon because I had been foolishly believing you might actually take steps to fix this problem. Implement transfers NOW.
  8. Oh... so all he has to do is quit the server he plays on, leave all his friends behind, and go play on a server he's never played on before, where he probably doesn't know anybody and may not have much in the way of assets? This is a very clever solution you've thought of and it sounds like a fine way for the guy to enjoy a service that he pays for monthly. They should hire you as a senior VP of marketing.
  9. If I had to guess, I would say that BW's SWTOR service is carefully designed to be useless to someone who has transferred a digital copy of the game in a way that would not be legal under EULA terms that are in force in the US market. Just because they're not allowed to prohibit people trading copies of the game doesn't mean they're legally obligated to provide the service to someone who has bought a 2nd-hand copy.
  10. His level 50 toons are stuck on the server he doesn't play on and hasn't played on for months. A little reading comprehension might help prevent future misunderstandings on your part.
  11. While I'm sure we all appreciate your thoughtfulness, in the end this is a pointless post that totally misunderstands the forces at play here. Yes, obviously it would be better all around if we could just have free transfers to the server of our choice. No, this knowledge doesn't help our situation because, just as obviously, it would take a lot longer to implement a completely free-destination, free-of-charge transfer service. It would take longer because such a service would be much more widely used than a non-paid service, and thus would have a far greater impact on server population balance. Thus it would require more planning and engineering on BW's part. Thus by the time the "free transfers to any server" feature were implemented, the playerbase would have already lost the players who simply will not wait around any longer to be reunited with characters they worked hard on 6 months ago. Your own post acknowledges that BW needs to focus on "retaining subscriptions" and implementing the paid-free-destination-transfer QUICKLY is really the only thing they can do right now to retain subscriptions. The rest of the pseudo-philosophical commentary about whether it's right to make us pay for bugfixes or basic operation of the pay-to-play service is really neither here nor there. People want to play the freaking game, not set a shining example for future generations of gamers with pie-in-the-sky rhetoric about the way things ought to be. In short; paid server transfers ASAP = good; it is exactly what is needed and it will help exactly as much as we think; skipping that step entirely, in favor of some long-term solution that won't materialize until everyone has already quit = bad.
  12. This. BUMPED. You're throwing cash away, Bioware. This game will hemorrhage subscriptions if you do not implement the additional transfer functionality VERY VERY SOON.
  13. no dude, obviously I am asking for a release date for the feature that has already been released
  14. Still waiting on a release date for server transfers. Account canceled.
  15. You shouldn't be "grateful" for anything. This is an MMO. Servers with people on them are a basic part of the service. Bioware was simply not providing the service as advertised. The server consolidation is not so much a "favor" they did us; more like a basic contractual obligation on their part.
