  1. When the game first launched there were restrictions on the red, blue and green color crystals as well as some gear drops (usually random green quality gears but sometimes you'd run into others) that were alignment-restricted. LS could use blue and green and DS could use the red but they removed most, if not all, of the restrictions on the gear as well as the color crystals. There are still the light and dark side vendors on the fleets but other than that, LS/DS is really up to the player. Dark side does come with corruption that can be toggled off if you don't like the effects on your character's appearance.
  2. Oh right, I forgot about that little tidbit.
  3. There are only three to choose from: Shadowlands and Jedi Convenant are on the East Coast and Harbinger (I think) for the West Coast. Shadowlands seems to be pretty active during prime time in my experience.
  4. If you're level 55, and possibly 50, it may be possible to solo most of the content though the Flashpoints you have to do may be tricky. I was able to solo my way through False Emperor with my Operative to get the part there (tried to finish it off for the heck of it but Malgus was a bit too much) but Hard Mode Foundry proved to be impossible. Everything else, including the mission, is pretty easy to solo, especially if you're a stealth class or at least have access to crowd control abilities. Treek just involves buying the merc contract for either 1mil credits or cartel coins.
  5. They're used to purchase Oriconian (which is similar to Dread Forged gear but without the set bonuses and different stats) gear from the vendors on the fleet. You get them from Hardmode Ops, 16m story mode Ops and weeklies.
  6. 1. Valor increases as you PvP, and you will get far more valor from doing warzones than you will just killing people out in the world. It's only important until you hit 40, at which point you can spend ranked warzone comms. After that, it's largely a bragging thing. (Also get titles every 10 valor levels) 2. You get them from completing Warzones, as well as from the PvP daily/weekly from the PvP terminal on the fleets. 3. Strength (assuming you are a sith warrior/jedi knight) increases your melee damage and crit chance if you are one of the two mentioned classes. (This includes their sub-classes) strength is largely useless to the other classes. 4. Endurance increases your health by 10 per 1 point of endurance (past the base endurance) and armor reduces weapon and elemental damage taken from attacks by x%.
  7. Pulls are the bane of my existence. Usually when it happens to me, I just stand there and die as there's nothing I can do about it.
  8. These are the things I could think of that would cause him to get so many mails when he starts a new character: 1. Collector's Edition/DDE items 2. Founder Title 3. Pre-order Bonus crystal 4. 1.2 Legacy Tauntaun pet 5. Party Jawa 6. Hero's Banner 7. Razer naga color crystal (unsure if this one comes in a mail or not) Any more than that, I haven't the foggiest. I personally get the first six on any character I make. As others have said, companions are buffed by the 'presence' stat. It improves their health, damage, and healing by a certain amount. Reaching level 50 (not finishing the story) with a human unlocks a bonus of 100 presence for the legacy (since humans can already be every class). Finishing a companion's quests also gives a +10 bonus for each companion fleshed out this way. So if you raise a human trooper (for example) to level 50 and finish all of your companion's quests, your next character will have a bonus of 150 presence.
  9. Chiss can also be bounty hunters. But yes, Chiss make great Agents. Chiss in general make great everything.
  10. I use SCORPIO on my Operative. It's a lot easier to actually Backstab when the mob isn't beating my face in. My Shadow used Qyzen while he was specced Infiltration. My Juggernaut when he was Immortal specced used Vette. Only my DPS toons use their healers, unless they're specced in a way that benefits someone else getting beat on, like my Operative.
  11. •Added a new Level 50 "Advanced Gear" mission for each Class to the Daily Mission Terminal on the Imperial and Republic Fleets. What's scary is I was going to suggest something exactly like this for PvE. It's the same type of thing as the free Recruit gear for PvP, at least that's how I choose to interpret it.
  12. Yes, but not in the way you'd level your character. It just passively gains XP when you normally would, even at level 50. Having certain legacy levels is crucial to use and/or gain access to some of the unlocks, like the various species unlocks. You don't have to 'grind' legacy levels and it would be quite silly to do so at any rate since legacy xp accumulates on all of your characters on that particular legacy.
  13. They do have an office in Edmonton, I think. However, SWTOR is fully developed and maintained in-house in their Austin, TX office.
  14. If you're talking about changing an NPC or an enviroment piece, yeah that's bad. However, WoW added Transmogrification last expansion that allowed players to change what their gear looked like. There are restrictions (for example, a piece of plate can't be changed to look like a piece of cloth gear and you can't turn a 1h sword into a 2h mace) but it's been pretty well received.
