  1. Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I very much appreciate it! Hopefully I should be joining a Guild soon, and can hook up with someone to help me avoid the ride altogether! BTW, I sent Kira on a Treasure Hunt while in the balloon the last time, but clearly the timing could be problematic in future attempts. I've never dismissed a companion myself in order to play alone. What is the command for that? Dave S.
  2. I play exclusively on the Jedi Covenant server. I was about 15 to 20 minutes into my ride (after a successful first jump), using the game chat most of the time, suddenly I'm deposited on the desert sands and I get to watch the balloon sail on without me. I understand that any game is going to have its bugs, but when the player is required to invest such a large amount of time for a goal (30 minute minimum in this case) then the programmers should darn well be doing everything humanly effing possible to ensure that my experience described above NEVER happens. Granted, it's just a Datacron and a Matrix Shard, but still SO much time wasted! I look forward to future updates to SWTOR that will address this issue as I would feel ashamed at myself to risk another attempt knowing that I could just as easily lose all that time again. Dave S.
  3. Aaaaaah! Thank you! I will check that this afternoon! THANKS. Dave S.
  4. Those little triangles with the orbiting half circles? In most of my gaming experience so far, they quite often do not specify the exact location of the desired object. They seem to function as an indicator of the general area to be searched, not the pinpoint location. Is this something that I just didn't realize until now, or are they, in fact, meant to indicate the exact location. I was just doing the Geonosian Offensive on Tatooine for the first time, and none of the map indicators coincided with the actual locations of the quest objects. If it is a known bug, what can I do to fix it? Thanks! Dave S. Viridionyx - lvl 30 JSW
  5. I would also heartily recommend swtor-spy.com for the Datacron locations as this site is pretty thorough in it's directions, especially in warning you about which Datacrons are unaccessible until you reach a certain level and which ones you can fall to your death trying to reach! Dave S.
  6. Greetings, all! I’m a lvl 26 Jedi Sentinel Watchman whose next big hurdle is defeating Valis. He lit me up the New York Times Square Xmas tree on my first two disastrous attempts. I’ve read several forum posts on the subject, so I now know I have to work the interrupts and keep my back to something. I should state that this is my first character and my first time with an MMORPG. I think I’ve grasped the basic gameplay and have all my Crew Skills above 200 after finally understanding crafting and reverse engineering only a few levels ago. The game still feels HUGE and daunting because I’m not used to MMO’s, but I’m starting to feel like I’m getting the hang of it. If you want, you can skip most of the following text unless you’d have suggestions on how my gear can be improved! I have a few questions about hotkeys after the long gear list! I’ve been using the default settings, and swapping out Force Kick as necessary. However, it seems clear that I need to add a Quickbar so that I can use it for all the abilities with long cooldowns such as the last four Force powers above. Should I have two interrupts ready for Valis? How am I doing? What abilities would you recommend for the above quickbar and for the second? Also, is this the best order for the Force attacks? I would deeply appreciate any suggestions! Thanks! Dave S.
  7. Greetings, all! I'm a lvl 25 Jedi Sentinel on Nar Shaddaa. I've been trying to work on my Reverse Engineering skills but I have a shortage of Exquisite Yellow Crystals. I found this page which listed four quests to run to get these crystals. However, I cannot find them in my Treasure Hunting tab. I've made to sure to select the Treasure Hunt icon for each Crew member and to look through all the level tabs but I don't see these four missions listed. What information do I lack? Thanks! Dave S. 8. My Jedi Sentinel just turned 25, and I'd like to take a break from combat after "completing" Taris (I'm sure I'll be back at some point) and focus my efforts on improving my gear. I just got the schematics for single and double-bladed lightsabers, made a couple and filled 'em with goodies. Then I noticed that one had an augment slot. At first I thought you had to have an armor skill, but then I read that these slots can be achieved through Reverse Engineering. Here are my questions: Should I keep making hilts with goodies and RE them until I get both with Augment Slots? Should I reverse engineer the orange robes and pants I wear to try and add augment slots to them? Should I do the same for Kira's green gear? Thanks!
  9. Trying to get the Cunning +2 Datacron in Justicar Territory. I can't believe that three decades later, this tedious, frustrating and totally non-necessary jumping puzzle torture is still crammed down our throats. I HATE THIS STUFF. I'd totally risk account banning for a noclip hack so that I could avoid this garbage. It's not challenging, fun or any kind of learning experience. It's the penultimate in apathetic programming! Please tell me that few of the Datacron journeys to come will present such an arcane path! Dave S.
  10. So those *********** Bleeders are living up to their namesake and making me HATE Nar Shadda with a passion. I feel like I need a break from dying and I'd like to advance two of my Crew Skills. Trouble is, being as I am new to this game and MMORPG's in general, I don't have the first clue how to do that! My Archaeology is ~ 70 or so, due to the abundance of crystals everywhere. However, Artifice and Treasure Hunting remain at one at I've not the foggiest how to about developing that. I've noticed that my Companions all have these Crew skills in the tabs, and that they are associated with what look like little side missions. However, I don't understand how this works? Do they cost me the money that I see onscreen? Why do they have a Cool Down? I thought that I was getting a handle on this game, but I can feel that grip slipping away as another layer of the onion peels back and I feel completely at a loss. I'm a Jedi Sentinel Watchman currently at lvl 20. Can some kind soul recommend a webpage or two where I could educate myself? Dave S.
  11. So you would recommend Artifice, Archaeology and Treasure Hunting? I'm assuming the items I collect would eventually be combined at a Crafting station? Thanks! Dave S.
  12. The guide above is the same one from noxxic which I'm currently following. I'm not playing everything solo, as I'm not nearly proficient enough to take on those scenarios by myself! I hope to someday be that good! I find I hardly use the medpacks, as I like to keep all my numbered hotkey slots for Force powers. I think I've chosen Archaeology, Slicing and Underworld Trading. I get the impression that most crew skills can be switched out and learned fairly quickly?
  13. I just started the game, and have a single character at lvl 17. I want to do a cookie cutter build to first get the feel for this type of build so that I can modify it later on another character. I know I need to look for Str, End and Pow modifiers in most of my wearable items. Correct? How would you rate the guides at http://www.noxxic.com? I have their Jedi Sentinel build page bookmarked already. I know I need Synthweaving as a crew skill, and Archeology and Underworld Training have been suggested. Would you recommend others? Thanks very much for your advice! Dave S.
