Bioware - why is test not utilized? why is it not an always on server, with its own community of testers?
Bugs and code fixes are to be expected. they are part of coding and designing anything. its ok, we know that. we expect that.
Why people arent happy is no testing seems to go into any of the patches that you push. The bigger ones that do go to test get some testing done on them yes, but even that isnt all addressed.
"Other games" (even games from 10-12 years ago) had test servers with normal active populations. they didnt just turn them on whenever it was time to test a "big" patch. every patch went to test first. so people who actually WANTED to test stuff and help find and fix bugs could.
People are angry with bugs because we are basically playing on 10-15 Test servers, when thats not what we signed up for.
I know at one point you (bioware) had a test community, dedicated players who actually WANTED to play on test. and test your patches for you. and give you feed back. i doubt theyre still around sadly. and as many bugs make it to the live servers, i highly doubt there is much internal testing if at all. or if there is, there just arent enough people to test anything.
That is what test is for. Not to test out your next big patch. but to have full time guinea pigs, who want to be your guinea pigs.
Those of us on the regular servers dont want to do that. thats not what we are here for. Bugs in testing are fine. Pushing bugs to your live player base in this frequency and consistency isnt good for your player base.
If you arent thoroughly going to test you patches internally before pushing them out to the masses, open up the test server. hopefully its not too late, and you can get some of the people that like to test back over there.
