This right here is what we all need to be worried about. I played LOTRO from day 1, and this is what I saw happen. All new content and events are designed around promoting store items instead of fun gameplay. Remember those cool treasure boxes that would drop from landscape mobs? What a fun addition. It just so happens that when one drops, it's almost a certainty that you don't have a key in your inventory that will unlock it. But guess where you can get one for 100 Turbine Points? You got it.
This is what I feel will happen to SWTOR with this model, and why I'm not enthusiastic about it at all. Bioware specifically mentions aggressive content updates and events. That's cool. It's the way these updates and events will be designed now that is not cool. Of course this is speculation on my part, but it's based on past experience. And, really, we all know this model is being implemented to increase revenue so it's not hard to see the writing on the wall...
