  1. Yes, I agree this is an interesting mechanic which could easily be added to one or more heals within the game, and even be improved by a talent or perhaps create synergy with another ability as suggested above. Unfortunately BW have made it pretty clear that they don't like synergy or interesting mechanics when it comes to healers and want us only pressing two or three buttons in a set rotation with little to no communication about philosophy, metrics or mechanics.   2. There is no repercussions with or without the tool, stop saying this, it's not an argument. If people want to be douches, they will be douches, they don't care about repercussions. You will get douches without a LFG tool, like we do currently except it is extremely hard to actually find a group OR you can actually find a group and still deal with douches. What I'm getting at is the only thing stopping me from dealing with douches at the moment is I am unable to find a group at all. Personally I would prefer to get a group and deal with a douche every now and then then sit on the fleet for hours on and spamming general to the same 50 people who don't want to group.
  3. Why are you laughing, exactly? Every time I have logged on for the last two months, I have spammed in guild/general/trade whatever channel I can find for a group, and I am a tank. I sometimes spam over the course of a few hours while also queuing for PvP (I don't like PvP but it's currently the only thing I can do). I have not found a FP group in two months. Wake up mate, players can't find groups right now. This is a big problem, who the hell are you to come in here and tell us it's a problem with us personally. I have met alot more than 3 friends, I came over to this game with 20 or so friends, however they have all left now, along with everyone else. That's the problem, if all your friends are still playing, good for you, but don't dare come in here and tell me that it's my fault that everyone is leaving the game. Cross-Server LFG tool is needed to keep the community which remains from quitting from not being able to find groups, plain and simple.

  5. You appear to be missing the point entirely. This thread is about whether a class with a support tree should be punished when they spec one of their two DPS trees. If you don't care about numbers at all, then why are you even in here? My argument here is that the most efficient way to tackle an encounter is to bring each player with a clear defined role, some healers, some dps and some tanks and it is ridiculous to me that, as a raid leader, some of my DPS will put out lower damage by design of the game just because one of their three speciality options happens to be another role. Let me put it this way, when a class has three DPS trees, usually they each have a niche... for instance, one of them is more suited for PvP, one of them is more suited for burst damage and one is more suited for sustained damage. So, using the logic of the people who are arguing against me, is that unfair? Shouldn't they all do exactly the same thing? Will you argue that if you're "pure DPS" class doesn't have an AoE speciality but another class does; then they should not be able to single target DPS because they have an AoE spec. If you are speced DPS, you are a DPS and should have a design philosophy to be within a small percentage of all other DPS specs. If you are unhappy that your class doesn't have a support spec option, then perhaps you made the wrong choice when creating your character?

  7. No, you don't have the option to use it often. You are completely missing the point. Mercs currently do not have an option to use SCG, they absolutely must use it as a heat drop and then click off the buff which not only wastes a lot of talent points in the tree it kills most of the utility built into the class and the burst in one hit. I'm going to stop here because I'm not sure what you are arguing any more as you started off by saying that Mercs have more utility than other classes and can burst better than other classes, however you mention you plan to not use SCG (click it off) when you get to level 50 on your own Merc. These two statements are at odds with each other. If you can accept that SCG was what made Mercs good during burst phases, which it was, and you are planning to click off the buff on your own Merc and use SCG only as a heat drop, then you must conclude that Mercs are no longer the burst phase kings they were.

RuQu nailed it with his response, I will only add that all the Merc healers I know now actually click off their SCG buff straight away after using it so that they can start building stacks again, i.e. it is only a heat management ability now and none of the "utility" it provides is used. There is no way you can argue for good class design when the class defining ability is being clicked off.

If I was your raid leader, I'd be telling you to take those heals off your bar and concentrate on DPS because that's why I brought you and your DPS numbers are severely lacking because you're wasting time and resources doing something I brought another player to do. Actually, I'd probably just get rid of you and find a DPS who does better DPS and doesn't want to heal. Triage is the job / fun of a healer and a DPS who thinks it's a good idea to throw some heals around ruins that completely. Especially if you're putting debuffs on people who they were planning to shield.
  10. Because Taunt is the highest threat generation ability in the game for all tanks. So, you can use intercede on a tank as a mini cooldown and it won't affect threat if timed correctly. Obviously good communication is needed, but you should already have that in a successful raid.

  12. Good post, you captured exactly how I feel. I wish this game was fun, it's just not right now with my Mercenary being particularly boring.
  13. Yeah, I thought this too, Silva. Surely they can't keep a straight face while writing these answers... I sure can't. So many references to fine tuning and non-invasive changes when they just made huge changes to Mercs and Sorcs which changed the entire way we play the classes. Do they know what invasive means?

If a DPS AC decides to throw out some heals, then that will severely affect their DPS and most likely piss off the healers because it throws triage out the window so your "question" has a completely false statement in it and is therefore invalid. There is no such thing as a "Hybrid" class. You can have a hybrid spec but I certainly would not bring a hybrid spec to a raid, I would much rather have a fully spec'd healer and a fully spec'd DPS and have them concentrate on their job and do it properly. The reason you have classes with three DPS specs is usually because each spec tree has it's niche sub-role, like a PvP spec, AOE spec, single target spec, utility spec etc, etc. This is the way almost every MMO is made these days. Just because some classes have their PvP or AOE spec replaced with a tank or a heal spec does in no way mean they should do less DPS when spec'd as such.
  15. Because the basis of your opinion, which you explained in detail, is using your Heroic Moment at the beginning of a fight is completely the wrong way to do it. That is to say that there is a far more efficient way to attack the situation you posted and was pointed out very clearly to you by a poster who fixed your post in a quote. You should never use Heroic Moment at the start of a fight because it's main purpose is to reset the cooldown on one of you own class abilities and give a bit of healing. Keeping that in mind, you should only use it near the end of a fight which means it will be against a single target and therefore AOE abilities with a 3 second cast time is far less usefull than an instant 4 second stun.
