  1. I say it comes down to what you want to do. Yes, Sorc is typically a better healer and every group needs 1. BH is pretty strong because of the heavy armor and decent HP. I am generally able to take a beating from a variety of mobs without stressing too much. I love Merc Bodygaurd for PVP. PVE I can hold my own. I just wish the missle was a "smart heal" and only healed people who needed health. OPs have more dots and more mobility. Overall, I dont think there is a WRONG answer, but Sorc is pretty strong.
  2. Straight Bodyguard leveling for me. Gault is my first choice and most commonly used companion. I never really got into blizz. Skadge is a decent choice too. But as others have said, you can not sit back and heal your companion...especially on harder mobs. Between space missions, a few PVP groups and questing, I could do a level every few hours while in the 40s.
  3. As a healer, you still do the majority of tanking on most mobs. You use Gault to DPS as you basically damage and heal yourself. Blizz is ok for tanking but I personally prefer our "5th" companion as my tank when healing.
  4. As a healer, I thought blizz would be my life saver. However I STILL run with Gault 99% of the time. For Champions, I may switch too our "5th" companion (don't want to spoil that in case you have not received him). In guard "stance", he is pretty durable. He also has a DPS "stance" that is fairly effective. More durable than gault, but less DPS> PS. I am level 46
  5. Stat wise, you should be ok. But the respec cost will get pricey real quick. We have people who were just playing around with their specs and they are already paying 60k credits per respec. Depending on what you are doing, a hybrid build can be successful (PVP).
  6. Blizz is our tank. But I would suggest gault as an alternative. He has a pretty high DPS. Just because you are spec'ed into bodygaurd does not mean you have to heal bot your companion. I am fighting mobs a few levels ahead of me. For groups, I try to open with death from above and then sweeping blasters a couple times. if they are ranged, this will normally take out all the standard mobs. For elites, you can normally kill the support adds and then switch to single target dps. Throw heals out as needed. Don't over use your instant casts (high heat). That is what I do, and I clear content quickly. I do like to run more flashpoints and PVP as a healer.
  7. Healing, I still rock Crit then Alacrity. But they are almost equal. My only complaint is during OH S*** moments, chain casting with alacrity will cause you to over heat faster. But neither option is wrong. It also takes more alacrity to effect your casting times than it does for crit to effect your output (based on my limited experience and what other show in other threads). It will be interesting when the number crunchers start working over the exact combos. Power is a good sub stat too.
  8. First off, I don't run with Mako. I use gault (just got Blizz, will try him). Second, most of the mobs I am fighting are grouped, so I do more AOE than single target. For single target, try to stick with casted/channeled abilities (unload/powershot) and sparsely sprinkle in the instant ones. Don't forget to use Rapid Shot (spamable cost free ability). The higher your heat gets, the less it regens. So keeping it below 45-60% is key. If you start creeping to high, switch to rapid shots. Let your companion do damage and heal yourself/them as needed. That is all I can recommend. We are not the fastest content killers in the game, but we can be very durable. EDIT: Yes, Bodygaurd is a healing tree, but healers have to solo too! Or you DPS folks won't have someone to save your behinds during ops/flashpoints.
