  1. I just checked the GTN on Harbinger for the current price of Character Rename tokens and found it's sitting at twice the price I'm used to seeing it at (~2M vs ~1M). I'm particularly struck by this as, with 90CC server transfers and a little bit of finagling, you can rename a character for less than a fifth of the price of the Cartel Market item. So now I'm wondering why the bottom hasn't dropped out of the Rename token market. Is using strategic server transfers to force a rename considered an exploit or something? I'm asking because I was considering doing a server shuffle to rename a toon and I thought I'd check the GTN first to see if the transfer price had had an effect on the pricing on the rename token. I'd like to get a rename as cheaply as I can, obviously, but I don't want to wind up getting banned for it.

  3. I came to this forum to check for, or create, this exact thread. So many awesome sets have been removed from the game over time, which I understand needs to happen. But since we've got the Outfit Designer coming soon, I think it would be an great opportunity for BW to put those sets (or similar versions) up on the CM for a limited time. It would be a fitting way to celebrate the introduction of the new feature. I know I've deleted a lot of (now unavailable) items over the years that I'd love to use for cosmetic purposes. I'd gladly drop some money on this. Actually, I'd probably drop a lot of money on this.
  4. I actually think this is a big part of it. I can't say for sure how many premade groups are on either faction, but my gut tells me there's more on the Pub side.
  5. I understand that all the good players play Republic for easy wins. But even assuming those good players prefer easy wins to engaging games (and so stick to the winning side), wouldn't the auto-wins also attract scrubs looking to be carried? Wouldn't that dilute the talent pool and more or less even things out? I don't understand how it hasn't balanced out even remotely. I'm a scrub myself, btw. But I'm trying to get better. I play on both factions for the practice and it's like I'm playing two different games.
  6. Damn, really? So the only thing this item has going for it...it doesn't really have going for it? That sucks. My condolences to those of you who put in the effort and got shafted.
  7. ...is part of an indestructible set being gifted to Ranked winners over the next 6 seasons? You'll all probably eat me alive for saying this, but I don't think that'd be such a bad thing. Yes, the helmet looks like a Yautja (the Predator) after a beating, but you can hide head slots. Think about it...since PvPers grind for top end gear that isn't so great in PvE, having a set of gear that never needs repairs might be useful. Everyone claims there's no money in PvP. A full set of indestructible gear would make running dailies 100% profit (repair bills aren't that much, but every bit counts). I know you're going to argue that PvPers shouldn't have to do PvE to get the full use of their rewards, but a buff on gear in PvP would just make it unfair for other players. At least this way there's only an advantage over the AI. In full-disclosure; I'm not at a level to do Ranked PvP yet, so I didn't grind the queue to get what many feel are disappointing rewards, but I know I'd be pretty fine with having a set of gear that never cost me any maintenance. This, of course, is all predicated on the hope that the indestructible gear is an ongoing thing (and that it won't be a head piece every time). Otherwise yeah, I feel for you guys who paid your dues and all you got was this fugly hat.
  8. Actually, scratch what I said two comments up, there is voice modulation on those headpieces, I was just listening for something else so I missed it. Cheers.
  9. I tested the Bounty Tracker's Hat and the Dreadseed Helmet just now. If they have modulation on them, it's very, very subtle. I tried a conversation a few times, both with and without those two headgear on and I honestly don't hear any difference. Are all modulations supposed to be a distinct change in tone or are they different depending on the piece? The Trackers hat I can understand, as it looks to be just a bit of fabric across the mouth, but the Dreadseed helmet has such an aggressive appearance, that hearing a human voice coming out of it is rather jarring. Edited to add: Oops, I forgot to threaten to unsub and burn down my own house in protest over this.
  10. I've noticed a weird difference between playing my Marauder and Sentinel; the Sentinel doesn't seem to have the audible cues for certain things that the Marauder has (at least, not on my machine). Two examples are: Force Crush vs Force Exhaustion (Rage/Focus spec). On the Mara, there's a satisfying 'crunch' when Force Crush hits its final tick, letting you know it's time to SMASH! I've not heard the same cue when on my Sentinel. Brooding Vs Contemplation (Carnage/Combat spec). When using your self heal to build up Fury/Centering, the Mara gives a clear 'whoosh' when you hit a stack of 30. Again, I've never heard a sound cue when doing the same thing on my Sent (and believe me, I've listened for it). It can't be a volume problem because a) I can hear the cues just fine when on my Mara and b) the only sound setting I've changed is to turn in-game music off (everything else is at 100%). Has anyone else noticed this, or maybe have a reason and , hopefully, a solution? It's not a game breaker, it just seems weird to me.
  11. I searched a few different phrasing variations of this topic but couldn't find any relevant threads. Basically I'm curious about whether it's possible to play effectively in PvE using only a limited set of actions (maybe 8-12). I'm currently using three action bars (plus a fourth for non-combat abilities) on all of my level-capped characters, and while I'm able to remember my keybinds when I need them, my experience has been that each class has a few high-rotation skills and a few that are rarely, if ever, used. So does anyone simplify their life by limiting themselves to only the most useful skills? If so, I'd be interested in hearing your insights into this play style. Or do we pretty much need to have access to our whole arsenal to be effective?
  12. That's a very conscientious stance to take JPryde. You're obviously one of the good guys (pardon the gender-specific turn of phrase). But as it stands, those items don't offer any profit to the vendor in question. For all we know, they get tossed into a trash can behind the stall as soon as we turn away (unless the Republic/Empire is running some sort of gear buy-back scheme). If said vendor isn't making enough income from their main sale stock, perhaps they should look into other careers. The ones who really stand to lose out here are the Jawas who raid the dumpsters behind market areas for those discarded items!
  13. This is true, Muffin, but the GTN has a habit of inflating the price of many items beyond what some would consider reasonable. Also, while I work the GTN hard in my quest for vast wealth, I assume there's at least some percentage of players who have other priorities, and who just throw anything they don't want at the nearest vendor for convenience. This idea wouldn't be a replacement for, or competitor to, the GTN; merely another avenue for obtaining gear (or GTN-fodder, for the prospectors out there).
  14. Good points Crazy. My initial thinking was that the vendor would unbind items, making them saleable (there's at least one thread here asking for a vendor that unbinds gear for a price). But then I realised players would just use this as a way to circumvent the binding mechanic all the time. Now I'm thinking that any vendor doing this should honour item binding, meaning that only unbound items would be available to other players. This has the added benefit of also addressing your concern about other players having bought something you might want to buy back. Any bound items you vendor would, as always, be available to you via the 'Buy Back' tab. So if you think there's a chance you might want to buy an item back, just make sure it's bound to you before vendoring it I personally like this idea as I have a bound speeder that I haven't equipped yet, which I sell to vendors occasionally for a quick cash boost, then buy it back again when I'm more fiscal. I'd hate to have this item bought out from under me! Thanks for prompting me to refine the idea.
  15. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but since I just dropped a bunch of credits and Cartel Coins setting my bank alt up with enough cargo space to hold everything that isn't nailed down from across my whole Legacy, I have a sneaking suspicion that BW will render that expense obsolete by introducing a Legacy hold/bank soon. That's just my luck.
