  1. I usually skip the heroics since I choose to quest solo most of the time. But oddly enough the times I have run them I find myself grouped with much higher level characters who just let me tag along. At the time I wondered why people were even doing them after theyve leveled so far beyond them. Then when my first toon got to a high level I realized why. They're an easy way to get commendations for orange gear to equip on your companions. So whether or not I actually do them when leveling up a character I'm glad theyre there to go back and grab some gear for my companions.
  2. I played SWG too and I loved it pre NGE. I would like to see more aspects of SWG worked into this game but I wouldn't want this to turn into a sequal of SWG. For better or worse this is the type of MMO the vast majority of players want. They want an MMO thats loosely based off the WoW template. If bioware introduced a game that was more like SWG than WoW it wouldn't attract the same number of players and would fail because of that. I say you just be patient and see how the game evolves over time. If enough of the community want player housing it will happen, if enough want a complete crafting revamp it'll happen too. I'm sure that bioware will do whatever it can within the limits of the engine to make people happy and keep their scripts up. This is a majority rules system and if everyone is happy with WoW in space then you're basically out of luck.
  3. That would be counterproductive lol If we had a shot at going to Mars the fantasy world of SWTOR would seem less appealling and if people spent more time excercising they would play SWTOR less... Then it wouldnt matter what was changed because everyone would be working out and planning a day trip to the red planet instead of playing the game.
  4. I have a hard time seeing how the state of WPVP is the fault of the devs. WPVP is what the PLAYERS make it! If noone on your server decides to walk off their space dock and encounter the other faction then the devs cant make them. If they implement some sort of reward system that will only draw people out until they get what they want and then theyre back to sitting in space dock. I suggest you use the forums or in game chat to gather like-minded players and start up alts on a low pop server. You'll have players on the same page and you can use the forums or a lowbie alt on the opposite faction to try and organize events between guilds. Basically...instead of calling out to Bioware to change how players play... try and make the change yourselves.
  5. I think this issue could be addressed by one of the options that STO used. Although the game kinda sucked it did have a great character creator... and amongst the pre-determined races they included they had a "basic" alien creator that was full of random alien parts you assembled like a Mr. Potato Head to create a unique alien species. Star Wars doesnt include nearly as many species as Star Trek has over the years but I don't think it would blow lore all to hell to have unique looking alien characters running around. If some people really want Mon Cals and others want Rodians or whatever then people are gonna get all whiney when their favorite species isnt introduced. Just having random aliens gives everyone a chance to make something cool they can be happy with.
  6. On the topic of character appearence... First... I don't like how showing sith corruption starts with the eyes changing color and then eventually moves onto more subtle differences. If you want to keep your characters initial eye color you need to hide corruption and lose out on the other aspects that you may find more desirable. I think it would be better to have some sort of customization to the corruption display thats similar to the initial character creation. When you hit dark side levels you could go to the dark side vendor and choose corruption options that you think look best on your character. Second... Replacing organic limbs with mechanical ones is a recurring theme in SW and is also shown on some prominent NPCs throughout the game. Yet the best we get is choosing a cyborg starting race and getting a few facial add-ons that aren't even very appearent outside of conversations. I feel that replacement limbs should be craftable, contain mods and be able to be equipped by any character. In order to keep a player with a certain crafting skill from making all their own and getting a sort of unfair advantage, the devs could require components from across all the crafting skills to assemble your new limb...
  7. Would've been great if they gave that some thought from the beginning and gave us some feature to create our own dialogue phonetically with sounds recorded for that purpose instead of hacking up existing dialogue.
  8. Im totally on board for player bounties However it's a system that needs to be designed carefully as not to get tons of QQ about supposed griefing.
  9. Thanks I figured it would be a way to get this feature without totally needing to reinvent the the wheel. Probably the biggest setback would be implementing a system to place items within the space. They would need to give us a simplified, user friendly version of whatever they use. Also I'm unsure of how many items you would be able to place in a certain area before the loading time gets rediculous and makes it not even worth it. But I'm no dev obviously... so all I can do is sit back and hope it comes to pass.
  10. I think a simpler and probably more doable alternative would be to allow you to duel one or more of your companions aboard your ship. Combat training without the need for an elaborate instanced system.
  11. I kinda agree about not having to wait on the speeder. When I first started playing Rift and learned you could get a mount when you could afford it I thought that was the best idea. That system does make it so alts have mounts when fresh players of the same level dont but I dont really see the problem with that. It was actually much MORE of an issue in Rift since you had to stick with the pack for world events.
  12. That would actually be a cool feature but might cause lag issues in some cases. People would be inclined to pop that CD when theyre being overwhelmed and the additional companions might screw with your framerate. If thats not an issue I dont see any other negatives with it. On a simliar note... might be cool to call in and have your companions bombard an area from your ship and wipe everything out. But that would need a rediculously long CD to not be abused.
  13. I think you just need a mouse with a couple of extra buttons. Not something crazy like a naga or anything but just a couple of extra ones. I have a 2 side buttons and my wheel tilts left and right. I have one side button assigned for Ctrl and the other is Alt... I map my center bottom 1 thru = , my center top Ctrl+1 thru Ctrl+= and my Companion bar is Alt+1 thru Alt+=. Then I keep oddball things like medpacks or a CD mapped to a random key that I assign to the left or right tilt of the wheel. Those can be placed in your right bar along with stuff you click like buffs, mounts and quick travel etc. Also aside from that you might need to prioritize you skills a bit. If you're melee you dont really have a use for all your cast spells and vice versa. On my sorcerer I dont even keep the melee attacks on the bar since theyre used to infrequently.
  14. Im on board with that idea as long as it's between characters on the same server and the same faction. Otherwise it would screw with server economies.
  15. Like many other players here I spent some time on SWG. I really enjoyed the player housing feature and being able to customize your place with furniture and artwork etc. SWTOR isn't setup to support actual towns because it lacks the open space that SWG had...and thats cool... I wouldn't really want to see the countryside covered in houses. I think that the city-worlds of Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa really lend themselves to making player housing doable in TOR. Rather than houses players can have apartments in the buildings on these worlds. The apartments would function pretty much like ships do in that they don't really exist in the game world so they wouldnt take up actual space. You can taxi to the building and walking through the door would put you in your apartment. The buildings are so large that it can even be one building with a few different taxi points you get sent to randomly and noone would be the wiser. Also having multiple points of access would help avoid the lag you would get from a bunch of people being in one place. There could also be an added benefit for guilds where the entrance brings you to a common room with a bunch of doors leading from it. Any of the doors would port you to your apartment. This may not be able to happen due to the large amount of people that could be there at once...but it would be cool. In order to really make it worthwhile players would need to be able to invite other players to their place. For as long as you have an open invite the other players apartment is an available option when you use the door to the building. All the crew skills can be made to contribute something to the pot in terms of customization of the apartments as well as social points being used for items. This would help the economy and encourage grouping. Some might say that if the apartments function like the ships why not just allow players to customize their ship interiors? I'd be cool with that too actually... but it might seem a bit weird to have all sorts of fancy stuff on a combat vessel.
