  1. Yes the title is a bit dramatic but this is how I feel Bioware and EA must be feeling. A franchise as big as Star Wars. A game developer as seasoned as Bioware with a publisher as big as EA, how could it fail? The reasons I think this is a fail is because 1. You try to copy WoW but leave out most of the 'lifestyle' improvements that have come about from modern MMO's 2. Why copy something that is 7 odd years old? Why not do something new and fresh, re-write the rules of MMO gaming like GW2, instead you played it safe and that has bitten you in the bum. The world has moved on and you release a game that plays like something from yesterday 3. Introducing the voice over quests was in part a good idea. It helped immerse you in the story but you should have just done this for the class quests. The reason I say this is because if you plan on doing more quests and raising the level cap in the future you will have to go through this time consuming production which will take longer to develop. Also I'd be happy just having the voice overs for class quests as this would make this part of the game stand out more. I don't need a voice over to tell me to kill 10 wombats or pick up 5 transistors - no point 4. How long did you spend developing this game? 5 years or so? To people who are saying WoW had 7 years to put polish on it and that SWTOR is as good or better than WoW vanilla this is the most bogus of comparisons. Bioware had the luxury of seeing what works and doesn't work in an MMO from companies like Blizzard. When you produce something now it should be better than what has gone before. To compare it to WoW from 7 years ago just shows how badly Bioware badly messed up. It should have been better than WoW now not comparable to something that happened 7 years ago 5. SWTOR did great look at the subs at launch compared to WoW. Another bogus statement. Back when WoW launched MMO's where not as well known in the gaming community as they are now. Everquest ran before but when WoW appeared MMO's where still a 'geeky' 'nerdy' game type that was not as wide spread as today. Of course SWTOR should have sold that many subs, well lets be honest it actually sold that many subs because of the Star Wars franchise and hype around the game - it was a cash cow that couldn't fail. Well the proof is in the pudding and people aren't sticking around about from the head in the sand 'fan boys' who hate anyone saying anything bad about this game. Take off the Star Wars franchise and this game wouldn't even have registered on the radar 6. MMO or single player. Bioware have proved they make great single player games. I've played Mass Effect 1 and 2 and really enjoyed them - hence Bioware got the single player side of SWTOR right. They just messed up the MMO side. They've shown their in-experience in this gaming sector. MMO players can be harsh and less forgiving and they have a right to be - if you pay a monthly subscription then you should be more critical of where your money goes. Stick to single player games Bioware, MMO's are out of year league and comfort zone Finally I'm not a WoW fanboy. I did play it for many years and enjoyed it, raiding in ICC was the height for me, then Cata came out and I lost the love for it. I'm not going back there or staying playing this, both are oldMMO's the difference is WoW was great for its day. Bioware tried to copy the greatest MMO in history, just when the greatest MMO is history was dying - for that reason it is an Epic Fail
  2. This game isn't terrible it's IMO a solid 7 but to tell someone to quit is just plain rude. You can have issues with something and voice your opinion but that doesn't mean you need to quit if your hoping that things can get better. Your type of response is typical of the head in the sand fan boy nothing's wrong mentality. Maybe you'll get your wish and before you know it you'll be throwing the hut ball to yourself....
  3. Well levelling up could be a single player experience but it's down to player choice. In WoW most nights there was 50 odd in the guild online, so you could chat, help other players, discuss rotations spec etc do dungeons. End game was never single player as raiding in 10 or 25 man groups or helping boost ppl in 5 man heroics In SWTOR sure you can do similar things but because so few players are on each server you don't have the community which is the basis of all good MMOs /bump
  4. I'm not sure if it went to waste as ppl would have levelled up and seen all the areas but then you go to end game and raiding which opens up a whole new world. I had more fun downing bosses with my guild in ICC than levelling up
  5. That is true because if their not in Org or Storm their in heroics or raids or battlegrounds having fun /bump

  7. Well I re-read the OPs comments and to be fair I understood what he/she was saying. I think the person who was originally making comments about their grammer was just being an arse
  8. I'm not sure which is worse, having no one on your server or the IGP (Internet Grammer Police)
  9. When I logged on last night the planet I was on was showing a big fat count of 1, that one being me. The same number as when I play that other Bioware game Mass Effect which is a single player game. Please Bioware take the MMO of your advertising as that's the mother of all lie's /bump n grind
  10. Agreed my comment wasn't about who's engine it was but that it was the engine at fault. Too many ppl with good spec rigs are having the same problem to blame the hardware /bump Bioware please look into this
  11. ^^ It has to be the engine look at all the amazing people with a broad spectrum of hardware who have the problem
  12. Ok well I had the same problem and managed to get over it by doing the following When the loading screen appears and the progress bar starts moving across then stops hit Ctrl Alt Delete then select lock computer. Log back in to the computer and the progress bar starts moving again and the loading usually completes after about 1 minute. If I don't do the above then it takes 5 or more minutes. I don't know why locking the computer then unlocking works but it does for me and might do for you as well, worth a shot if you've got this problem
  13. Ok the main reason I'm posting this is because there so many doom and gloom post of the forum SwToR going down could end up a self fulfilling prophecy I'm an experienced MMO player mainly WoW but also GW and Aion. I've also pre-paid for GW2 and enjoyed the weekend beta last week, although that also had its problems. For me if Bioware implement the following features ASAP they can save this game from going down the pan: 1. Server merges or free server transfers. Get rid of the deadwood and get the servers populated again. A thriving MMO needs this and will increase the community on the server 2. LFG. If point 1 is not in place then LFG should be across servers otherwise if server populations are high keep LFG to server only, either way it needs to be in 3. End game, end game, end game. My favourite raiding experience was in the Ice Crown Citadel (Wow). If there was something similar in Swtor, such as a huge spire that needed to be in infiltrated. As Blizzard this with Ice Crown different wings could be opened up over time allowing the raid to progress up the spire downing bosses until the final climatic boss at the end 4. PvP - I've not done much PvP in Swtor but have seen many players grumbling about it on the forums. Anyone who has an in-depth knowledge of PvP in Swtor feel free to contribute I honestly believe if Bioware focus on the above then we would have a first class MMO on our hands. If not then its a chance lost. The foundation of this game are crying out for this to be good, Star Wars, Light Sabers, Great levelling experience. Bioware you cannot F**K this license up! Feel free to comment but please 1) No SWTOR blinkered fanboys who are in denial and think everything is rosey with your head in the sand answers 2) No MMO fanboys who want this game to fail regardless of what Bio do I've had enough of 1 and 2 on these forums already Thanks
  14. Hi I always have this problem when I go to a new planet or the fleet. The following always works for me: 1. Leave to load for around 5 or 10 seconds 2. Press Ctrl Alt Delete (press and hold them all down) 3. This should then go to the Windows screen where you can lock computer, switch user etc (on Windows 7 and Vista. Xp I think comes up with the same but as a dialog box) 4. Wait approx 5 seconds then click the Cancel button 5. The game should carry on loading If the above doesn't work do steps 1 and 2 then 3. Click in Start Task Manager 4. Task manager should appear on your screen 5. Close task manager 6. On your taskbar (bottom of the screen) click on the minimised star wars to then maximise it again 7. Game should carry on and complete loading Hope this helps
