  1. It really is this. The only way it's "too hard" is if you have a bunch of lowbies without the appropriate skills needed to play the class decently. Otherwise, if you're failing hard with a bunch of level 40-50's and 1 or more 60's, the problem are the players. I've literally carried entire groups on my Veng Jugg (65) where no one else in the group was over 55. I'm talking a level 20, 40-something, 50-something, and myself. All DPS. You literally have to coach them in fights, tell them about the heal stations, tell them to wait for me to LoS pull so we can AoE packs down fast without spreading out. ect. I've literally had to tell groups... "We dont have a healer, so immediately after exiting combat, can you PLEASE self-heal so we can expedite the pulls." because they are standing around at half health... expecting to be healed by someone else... so im standing around waiting to pull, because if I pull that guy is not going to survive the pull at 50% health, and being level 25. The OP is right. Tactical FP's are impossible[/i] with a group of dps facerollers who are sub 65. While it is better to have heals, they really arnt required.
  2. I do tactical FP's with 4 dps every day. The only way it's not possible with 4 DPS is... 1) Players dont know how to play. This could mean a lot of things. Not using the heal kits on bosses is one thing that can make a FP impossible. You'd be surprised how many groups dont even know what los pulling is. When I los pull on my Jugg, I see level 20's charge in, pull agro, and instantly drop. Then, they're like "WTEff, these are impossible to do with 4 dps" and they leave group. 2) Everyone in the group is using bolster. I get in groups as a lone 65 all the time and it's enough, if the players arnt total bads, to get through the instance with 4 dps. Of course, if someone from a 4 dps group drops, I tell them not to requeue. People still dont even know that companions are the best dps/heals in the game. 2 people and 2 high level companions are the best for FP's atm. I think a lot of people are still clueless about this xpac. They think you cannot to FP's with 4 dps... and they dont realize that companions are the best heals/dps and should replace actual players whenever possible.
  3. My ticket has been open for 3 days and has gotten no response. I figure posting here in the meantime may help some people become aware of this bug. Because of an error not on my end, an estimated 40 million credits worth of items became bound to me. You're immediately thinking it's the 36 hour bind. It's not. Read the story. I purchased a ton of cartel item packs fishing for some items I want. I realized that my inventory was full and because of the 36 hour bind I could not place them in legacy storage. I purchase an account wide bank tab expansion. I place my newly acquired items in the said expansion. I log off. Upon logging back in, I see that I have lots of new mail. "Item recovery mail". Inside the mail are many of the items which I had just "opened" from the packs. I realize that these are all items that were placed in the newly purchased bank tab. I "retrieve attachments" on all those items and obviously it fills up my inventory. I go to my bank and see that the account wide tab that I purchased had been reversed somehow. I notice my cartel coins for purchasing the additional slot are not gone. I immediately purchase another account wide bank tab. Immediately after I do this, my cartel market says I have "1 unclaimed item". It now says I have an account wide bank tab that is unclaimed. I then "return" that item and the cartel coins are refunded. After this exchange the proper amount of bank tabs and cost for them is resolved. I have one additional bank tab, and paid the right amount of cartel coins for that tab. Now, here is the issue: All of the items which were in that tab that were sent back to me via in game mail are now permanently bound to me. I'm guessing the automatic recovery flagged those items as "bound" because they were on the "36 hour bind", so when they were returned to me, they became bound. Items which were purchased on or about the same time had their 36 hour binds lifted as they should, so it is not just a graphical error on the items which were in that bank tab. I need these items unbound. The proof is simply that I have a ton of bound cartel items (weapons/crystals/titles/dyes) in my inventory, which were purchased more than 36 hours ago, that do not appear in my collections.
  4. The thing you're forgetting is... SW:ToR keeps "re-releasing" all over the place. This causes a surge in subscriptions that will offset the numbers of actually lost. If 1 million people unsub, and the re-release the game again in EU/OZ/ASIA "versions" that will highly offset the loss of players on, lets say, the NA servers. I'm going to guess that there were 2.2 million (mostly) NA players on Dec 13 of last year. Right now, there are probably 1/10 of that actually still playing. Players have either migrated off, or quit, or rerolled. Then they release another launch version of the game in a different region. If they lose 1 million NA players in the first 3 months (they probably did) but 500,000 OZ's join, it only looks like they lost "500k subs". I can tell you one thing. If NA player numbers drop, so will the player numbers in Asia. Same reason why most players in WoW are in China. WoW has about the same number of actual players as SW:ToR did on launch, however, servers seem to dead now because actual players are no longer playing.
  5. Because there are not very many players left, its easy to abuse the 90 sec timer and farm comms by strategically queuing. There wouldnt be an issue if there wernt so many empty servers. You could literally farm 3000-5000 comms an hour by queuing two coordinated groups.
  6. Ranked warzones will make PvPing fun again. In the beginning, only hardcore PvP'ers were queuing up and it wasnt that bad. Once random bads started queuing, winning went from being skill oriented to basically hoping and praying your team is at least halfway decent. Right now there are very little day 1 PvP'ers on day/week/month 1 characters. Right now there are nothing but alts and new players being the majority. Right now there is no way to even have a decent match aside from queuing 2 groups of 4 players and hoping the same queue pops for both. Right now we need something different because this game got stale really fast. BTW, Novair cost isnt a "new" WZ, it just wasnt ready for release so we got Alderran instead. So, yes, rated would make things a little better, too bad there are very few "rated" players left. Bioware is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they release rated now, queues will be long or they'll have to do their original plan which was to include both rated and unrated players in the same WZ. People are BaM'ing about "pre-mades" and long queues now. Just imagine what its going to be like when rated is released? I can already see a lot of top tier PvP'ers (the very few who are left, that is) complaining and unsubbing because some unrated bad with 11k hp has no idea what they are doing and singlehandedly loses the match for everyone. This happens already, but at least losses right now dont matter at all. Lose/Lose situation already. Looks like the "6 months till F2P" wasnt that far off. The number leaving the game is greater than the number joining, and everyone knows the 1.2m "subs" include people not even logging in anymore, as well as people who have not yet paid for a month, as well as not displaying unsubs vs. new subs. In the NA servers, there are probably only 350k people who still actually play, or less.
  7. Rated WZ's were pulled because there is a severe lack in re-subscribing players. I know you're all going to ask me for "proof" but the only proof that I have are that guilds are constantly collapsing because people are quitting. However, there are always new recruits joining. Yeah, we might have only lost 400k subs since March (or w/e the figures are) but the truth are that we are less 400k players, which probably means that 800k quit, and 400k are new players, for a net loss of 400k subs. When I queue for PvP now, I dont see ANYONE I used to see regularly two months ago, and I dont see anyone AT ALL from launch. It's like every 2 months a new wave of people sub the game, while a new wave of people quit. Right now there is only 1 "legit" active guild on our server republic side. Now... as far as rated WZ's are concerned, there arnt a big enough population of rated players to go live without it looking like another failure. There are just too many people unsubbing for steady queues, which means rated and unrated players will be forced together (yes, Devs confirmed this LOL) and its already bad enough having to queue with fresh 50's with 10k-12k hp in an unrated match, let alone joining one when hes playing "for fun" and you're risking a 2200 rating. Rated didnt go live because there are little "rated" players left. Most are playing alts, quitting, or rerolling Fatman. Rated WZ's will not come out until after x-fers (free, paid, regardless) go live.
  8. Alderran is the worst WZ by design and even Bioware knows it. It's no secret that it needs an even bigger facelift than the added 3 second delay on speeders, mostly because of the severe importance of the "first 2 cap 2" which causes the un-winnable "less than twice" scenario. If you notice... Novair Coast WZ is basically Alderran but without all of the flaws. Setup: You need a full group of 8 people who are not total idiots, who can communicate, who have at least recruit or better gear, and understand the basics of PvP in general. This is the hardest part. Getting 8 non-bads seems to be the biggest part of PvP over any strategy ive seen. It will be this way until rated, sadly. You need 3 "main" players for this to work. Leader 1 goes directly to left (preferably with sprint) to cap the node. Leader 2 goes directly to mid with all but one of the remaining forces. The last person serves at the "interceptor" whos only job's are to do the following: -Directly intercept any forces which may be going left. As a guardian, I can stop up to 3 people. -If there are NONE or GREATER THAN 3 players, that person waits for further instruction. Leader 1 is probably your best "soloer" or player who in raged and can kite/interrupt any forces at left. Do not trust this temporary solo defending to a "bad". This player is the foundation of this strategy. Leader 2 calls the "second cap", whether its going to be center, or right. He usues the knowledge gained from the left incoming numbers plus what he sees at mid to decide whether to say on mid, or break off to right. Now for the basic strat... If they send "load" left (more than 3) then you will be taking mid and right. If they send "load" mid, you will be taking left and right. If they send "load" right, you will be taking left and mid. (I dunno, maybe it happens.) Now, the important parts. The "interceptor" must delay and incs. left long enough for left to be capped. This isnt that hard as long as the interceptor isnt doing loldps. If there are too many left, or none at all, the mid interceptor joins the offense temporarily until the second node is secured. He goes either under mid to right, or hops the wall and attacks mid from behind. If there are 1-3 left, the interceptor will die. He will also immediately fly back left upon death as well as anyone else who is needed who is also dead. If no one is needed, they dont go left, obviously. IF THEY SPLIT 3 WAYS OFF THE BREAK This only happens about 10% of the time. But, the thing is, you still have the advantage because you know exactly where they all are, minus stealthers. Using the numbers they have left, plus the numbers they have mid, you know how many they have right. If you know how many of them there are at any one time, you know where they are weakest. You still have one floater going unnoticed, who is the left "interceptor". Because of the interceptor, you should always be up one person no matter what node you're attacking if you communicate well. Pro tip: Any rotators going right from mid have to do it "quietly". By the time they realize that you're coming to right with 2-3 people to their 1 person, its too late. What usually happens, is that we cap left, they cap right, we shift, they cap mid, few second later we cap right. You can win outright 80% of the time because they dont split 3-ways. 10% of the time they go 3-way, you still have an advantage cause you have a quick transitioner a.k.a the interceptor. The other 10% of the time, you just lose because they're better. I know lots of people are gonna go on about "how this doesnt work" but I assure you it does. What about after you cap 2? Well, once you have 2, you really shouldnt lose them. If you lose them after you have them, someone is probably playing bad. They either called it late, didnt interrupt the cap, wernt paying attention, or no one came to help. Try it.
  9. This is an MMO, not an RTS or an FPS. In an MMO there has to be a sense of progression. This game has none as far as PvP is concerned. The "gearcheck" in PvP is so minimal unless you're going from recruit to full WH with mods. In PvE, you can kick someone from your group if they're bad or undergeared or are just plain dumb. You cant do that in PvP. This is like forced grouping with no rewards for the people being forced.
  10. Paying for the game gives them access to the same game that I have access too. That doesnt mean we should experience the same content. This argument is so old and stale. This game is an MMORPG, not a BluRay DVD of Star Wars.
  11. There are no tiers for PvP content like there are for PvE. A new 50 should not be able to do KP HM or w/e, unless a group consents to carry that player. In PvP, I dont consent to carry idiots, and there are no tiers (rated WZ's slightly qualify) but even in rated WZ's you can still have unrated players playing in the same WZ as you... nothing like risking a 2200 rating on someone who just hit 50, queued for unrated, with 10k hp. The common sense elements can be figured out by the time you're level 20. You dont need to be level 50 to know not to make simple mistakes like fighting away from nodes/doors, or worse. Just nonsense. Then why even make gear? Why not just have a naked MMO? The biggest issue are fresh 50's who are queued up with me (with and against) who have no idea what they're doing but expect to be decent because they have recruit gear which they just bought. Have you ever heard of a "gear check"? If not, you have probably never end-gamed anything. PvP does not have a gear check like many PvE encounters. If there are gear checks in PvE, why not put them in PvP? Or at least allow me to not queue with these people? What I am suggesting is that new players have no idea *** they are doing and should not be given gear just because they hit 50. You're fixated on the gear, its about the bads. The bads + the gear = they think they're good. My gear is decent and im not complaining about it at all. I have a few WH pieces, and rest full BM. I'm in no rush, either. Personal insult. And yes, losses do mean something to me. You realize WH is a joke. 9000 W / 1000 L = WH 0000 W / 10000 L = WH lol? I'm competitive. I want to play with people of my caliber and competitiveness and im not even that good, I just look like a genius because the quality of players in this game is terribly low. If 1500 rating was "average" in WoW, this games players have to be sub 1000 on average. Not talking trash, just calling it like I see it. Really? The things I yell at people for in WZ's are actually things that are common sense. If we lose, thats fine, I accept that, as long as we lost with a good reason. If we lose because someone tries to be a hero and score when possession will do the trick and blows the game for everyone, of course ill rage. I'm a tennis coach. I yell at my players only if they make bad mistakes. You do realize that there are such things as good mistakes and bad mistakes right? I cant help someone who cant apply common sense. I dont want them to be forced on me either. I want to let them do their own thing if they could only let me do mine. I mean... how am I supposed to help someone play Huttball when they cant even use keybinds? This isnt Sunday school or the special needs class and students shouldnt be forced on me. I dont have to teach anyone anything. Sometimes, I just want to play a high level of PvP, with both teams being good or better. I can only count a hand full of WZ's where I won/lost and had a great match. You must realize it gets extremely tiring telling people... "WATCH LOS" and the guy runs right to the edge allowing a force jumper to score while we all watch from the dead box.
  12. It's hardly eliteism when a single bad player can prevent you from winning your game. It's incredibly hard to carry people in PvP. Worst part about it, you're stuck doing it. I would never queue for Hutball without an 8 man premade because one bad can turn a 1-0 winning game, into a 1-2 loss, or even a 1-1 loss. I'm complaining because there isnt enough reward for being good, and it costs everyone too much for someone being bad. I can have the best gear and the highest skill ever, and lose to two valor level 20's in recruit gear if they are the right class. You cannot leave a bad player unattended in any of the WZ's or else you risk losing the entire match. Problem? I dont want to be forced to carry people when I get no rewards other than a slightly faster gear grind.
  13. And you all forget that even in Rated WZ's, you can still be grouped with Unrated WZ people. I dont care if its 2am and on a Thursday. I would not ever want to risk my 2200 rating on some bad making the same bad mistakes 80% of the people currently queuing are. Dear god, I can already see losing 50 points because some guy lets a JK/Jug leap to him in Hutball, or some guy not calling an inc. in Novaire causing a 2% comeback. Recruit Gear should be 3.5m creds, or legacy 15, or valor 60. Being level 50 does not mean you know what you're doing. Hopefully by Valor 60 you're halfway decent.
  14. Some thoughts expanded: New PvP players have not earned the right to PvP. Recruit gear should have a valor rank, legacy rank, or cost 10x as much so that only an established player can buy their way to "decency" immediately at 50. Right now, too many people are expecting to be able to roll everyone just because they have recruit gear. They have no understanding of the game because a lot of these people probably havnt even played for a month. I was in a WZ earlier where a guy asked me how to change your color crystal... guy was level 50 in recruit gear. This MMO has a lot of new players who have no idea what they're doing. I still see people with valor rank 60+ doing the most careless things. Because of the "balance" you're imposing on us, these people really dont see anything wrong with what they're doing. This game makes the bads think that they're good. Most people will not push themselves to improve something if they think its good enough already. Every player will have the best gear for PvP if given enough time. I dont see how its like this for PvP, but not for PvE. It's ok to give better players better gear in PvE, but not in PvP? Makes no sense. Bioware has contributed to the failing PvP system by allowing bads to think they're good and punishes legitimate PvP'ers by offering only a color change of armor as a reward for being the best.
  15. I recently unsubbed. Main reason: PvP is too boring/frustrating/bad. This game really has some of the worst players I have ever seen. I'm not saying that to be disparaging, but rather im just trying to be brutally honest. The fact is: I cannot escape these bad players and once I encounter them, I quit PvP for a few hours hoping the quit queuing. I'm tired of playing alt's, hoping and praying for more than 4 guildmates to get in the same WZ, dailies that promote failing, lack of any other PvP than WZ's, that its not even worth $15 a month. -Bioware forced me to queue with these people with 4 people pre-mades. -Bioware forced me to queue for "all" WZ's so I cant escape Hutball (worst WZ for bads) -Bioware promotes this with a low skill cap game, FOTM classes, and vendor gear. I dont mind waiting for long queues, except that this game has nothing to do other than dalies and waiting for companions. If this game had more stuff to do, long queues wouldnt be a big deal. The issue here is that long queues are long because there is nothing to entertain you while you wait other than alt tabbing and being on Facebook or w/e. Right now people are all being forced into one big PvP group. This is terrible. Everyone loses. Just like PvE endgame, if you want PvP "content" you have to reroll. Playing your PvP main just doesnt have lasting power.
