  1. Hahahahahahahaha. Do you have any experience with EA games? This is typical EA behavior (EA has no standards). It's rather amazing that SWTOR launched with so little problems. But to answer your first question: "Where to start?" Simple: Uninstall and forget it exists.
  2. True. Compared to Dromund Kaas (on a good day), Imp Fleet chat is usually not too awful, but it does have it's moments. I had to "pass through" fleet again last night for turn ins and, omg (it was during one of those moments), the trash in general chat was incredible. I wasn't offended by it, but it was just pure unadulterated garbage. The kind of crap that makes you question the future of the human race if these kids (and I'm sure a fair share of them are adults) are going to be those in charge one day. What BW really needs to do, if they can't hire in-game moderators, is fix the ignore feature to ignore legacy instead of just the individual character.
  3. Update to the armor rating theory (to alleviate any confusion anyone may have): Only Master Mode Crisis on Umbara, Traitor Among the Chiss and Nathema Conspiracy have the 242 gear rating requirements, and the filter will show 21/21 if you fail to meet the gear requirement and they are automatically de-selected. No Veteran Mode flashpoint has this requirement. You could queue up naked and still get Nathema.
  4. Semantics. I'll admit that it may not have started with video games, and I never claimed that it was exclusive to video games. We're talking about an in-game experience here, so while "bread upon the waters" (which is the actual phrase) may fit because one interpretation of it means "the practice of giving" while the more commonly used phrase for gaming communities is "Pay it forward" or "Paying it forward" - a phrase that became popular since the inception of MMO's.
  5. There are a few boss mechanics out there in vet mode that'll still clean your clock if you ignore them and stand in stupid, but not many. Slight tangent here: What I find silly is that in story mode some of the bosses will pull you in, do their aoe and knock you back out of it before it hits. Or the damage is so insignificant that it doesn't matter. Then later when someone does vet mode of the same fight, the group ends up wiping because everyone's used to taking piddly amounts of damage. Then they hit 50 and think they can handle master mode, which turns into a total fustercluck because they ignore mechanics and hit enrage timers because they don't know how to play their characters to the fullest (a prime example is having overload in the rotation). Yet they say they know the fight when asked. /end_tangent
  6. No kidding. I was doing the Ziost story arc on my newbie earlier and had to pass through imp fleet. In the 3 minutes I was there, the pure crap that was being spewed was outrageous. I did a couple of ignores and reports (one would think that if someone were using a name that they know is a violation of the TOS that they would try not to draw too much attention to themselves. But then that requires some smidgen of common sense). Afterwards I just went about my business. I don't think it's toxic chatter that drives people away. It's too easy to ignore or just plain leave a channel. It's more likely the culmination of bugs and the incompetence of BW to maintain the game at an acceptable level.
  7. You don't need to have completed the bonus series to use the elevator. And you don't have to have finished Nar Shaddaa, either. The area has never been gated, other than being able to survive getting there as a lowbie, but that was before level sync. The area's now only 2 levels higher than the "normal" mission zones (20-24 instead of level 30+).
  8. Map with route marked all the way to the world boss (R4-GL).
  9. At the risk of some SJW's giving me a hard time about it, you really should format your post into paragraphs. Wall of text = bad and most won't bother trying to read it. I didn't bother. and This should be over in Story and Lore.
  10. Since "Goodbye" threads are frowned upon, it could've just as easily been deleted. I love how people wait until the weekend, or off hours, to post things that'll be seen several hours before a moderator can intervene (that referral post for example).
  11. Tactical flashpoints had a name change to Veteran flashpoints. If you hover it, the tool tip tells you something along the lines of it being role neutral. There are kolto stations at all boss encounters. Some trash encounters can be stressful for the uninitiated, though. Learn the fights. Ask about them. Wait to see if someone pulls a group of mobs around a corner to bunch them up before jumping into your own death. Basically, it's working as intended for veteran mode. If you want the trinity, then queue master mode, but beware: It's more difficult and bosses enrage.
  12. Nice theory, but no dice. The gear rating doesn't matter anymore. I've done Traitor, Umbara and Nathema (or have at least started them) with players as low as level 18 - doesn't usually go very well. Here's a pic to prove it. All three of those now just say Recommended for characters level 15 through 70 when you hover them. After the weekly reset, I got completion for it (12 levels after picking it up and with 190 rating gear, tyvm). Only took 8 LFG's and the weekly reset to update.
  13. I heard rumor that the Republic is working on a cannon
  14. Red Reaper 4 times, Hammer Station, Foundry and Cademimu. And yes: ALL checked. In Progess unchecked (this has never affected any of my other characters - of which I have many - getting completion). It's happened occasionally to other characters, but never to this degree.
  15. Other than the religious reference (and religion is taboo on the forums), I've never heard that term used in relation to any video game.
