  1. I'm pretty sure thats not at all what he is saying. You're just whining because your class right now got hit with a nerf. DEAL WITH IT. THIS IS AN MMO! It happens ALL THE TIME. It seems like you only want AC's because your class was so great when you picked it, it got a nerf and now you're crying because you get killed. Just think, next update, you might get better! What the poster was talking about is that, if you're argument is that at lvl 10 you don't know enough to pick your class, that there is plenty of advice out there by people who are playing it in end game. So, if you don't think you can pick, you can easily read the forums. He's not talking at all about calculators, etc, he's talking about being an intelligent, resourceful player. His point is very valid for one of the arguments that you've made.
  2. So, I'm posting these two screenshots on behind on a player named Sgum (or Mugs backwards). We were pugging EC HM and doing pretty well when we got a massive error code bug that trapped a lot of us in the loading dock area. However, bioware had different plans for Sgum. Yes, as a trooper he was the perfect candidate to test out their new type of space combat...except, being BW, they forgot to give him a ship, and they killed his companion and made him into a mummy (as seen in the pic). So, see below what happened to Sgum, after the infamous error code bug (I think its he1034 or something like that): http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/screenshot2012081100221.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/screenshot2012081100194.jpg/ (Im not sure how to make them appear as pictures in the thread, so just the links for now) Cheers! And PLEASE share your own stories of funny incidents that have happened to you after the infamous EC error code
  3. Will they make it so that Miraluka can either choose to wear their racial mask or helms? If I knew I wouldn't be able to have a helm showing forever, I wouldn't have picked that race, since the races themselves have no benefits over each other other than looks
  4. I think it also depends on side and server. On my server, well geared, decent healers aren't common. It is a lot easier to get dps. But also remember, there are several classes which can do healing as well. But I think at lower levels, sages can do more heals because they can rely on their companion in dps. I've noticed lots of sage healers in low levels, then when they get to OPs, and they have to ACTUALLY heal, they switch to DPS. So, if you are a low level healer, don't worry about it. Just keep healing if you want to heal and at end game it will probably be better. If you are a good healer, and you heal well in lots of Pugs, you'll have no problem finding groups. There are several guilds I've pugged healed with, and I've pugged with them since many times, as well as main and secondary healing for my guild. People appreciate good heals.
  5. I completely agree with this post. I remember when the game first came out and the hardcore gamers were complaining about the lack of content. There was someone on my server who said they did it all in a few days, while ONLY playing 15 hours a day. Designing a game for people who play 8-10+ hours a day just won't work. You'd have to have 10 dev squads working 24/7 to make them feel like there is always new content. I'd say a majority of the players are normal people, with normal work hour jobs, etc..so design the game for them. There will always be groups that burn through content, and those that only play 1 hour a week. There will be players that only play PvP and complain..I'm always confused when devs listen to a small minority group of people..but you know..the one who has the loudest megaphone tends to win... I think this game is doing a great start. It had a lot of subs quit out, but then again, the number it had before was just MASSIVE, I didn't expect them to keep them all anyways
  6. I have an Imp character at lvl 9 right now just to have access to the Imp GTN. I've found that items on the Imp side on server go for 2-3x what they cost on the Rep server. There are actually a few Imps that would buy things on Rep side for dirt cheap and sell them on Imp side for massive profits. Example: +41 endurance magenta crystal. On Rep side: sell for 150-200k. On Imp side on my server: 400-500k. Having neutral will be great because then if there is a massive population difference, the supply and demand on both sides will be averaged out for both sides.
  7. I really love PvP. What I don't love most of the time are the PvP'ers. Most MMO's I've played where there is PvP, the PvPers tend to be the most annoying people to me. However, that is just what I think of them, and its mostly because they complain 90% of time they die, or because they let their healers die and then wonder why they don't get heals. Anyways, besides that, from the perspective of game changes, most PvPers don't want their pvp to be 100% balanced, they want every other class to be balanced, except theirs. Some aren't like this, but most of them that I know, and most of the suggestions I see about pvp follow this. The best way, in my mind, is to make the classes and skills reflect purely the PvE, because the classes most often are balanced then, at least more so if it was taken from PvP. I've seen perfectly balanced games get totally unbalanced because the dev's are trying to tweak every little skill, every little dps and heal tick to make pvp 100% balanced, and it never is, because someone always complains. I have found that great Pvp'ers are great no matter how nerfed or OP their classes are. Most of the people that complain are the ones that want max valour, or the max epeen gear to show off without having to actually think or do much work, and since they are the ones that swarm the forums, the devs listen to them. It's much like if you're at a college and you look at professor ratings. Lots of good professors have bad ratings because more bad people complain in public and good people compliment. I think if the dev's looked less at the forums, and played the games themselves and in the servers, they would get a much better feel for it. Listening to players complain is never a good substitute for just trying it with normal people. So, for you devs, here is my suggestion: Don't pick PvE or PvP, or balance classes based off of forums. Roll a character yourself, on a random server, and just play the game like a NORMAL person. (i.e. find a guild and just have fun, or pug stuff, etc). You'll get a much better feel for the game and how things are working or not working than listening to forum complaints.
  8. I've healed HM OPs many times as a sage healer, both pre 1.2 and post. While it is more difficult, because you know..you actually have to MANAGE force usage, even in long fights, or tricky fights (HM fabricator, etc), I've never had a raid wipe because of a healing error. There have been many times I've had to sacrifice 70% of my health quickly to do some fast big heals if something goes wrong, but its possible. Someone posted in another forum a double dipping method that Ive used as well, which is: HoT > channel (to get the power regen 'buff' > sacrifice health for power > AoE heal > a 2nd sacrifice. This will get you back a lot of health while leaving you at the same health as before. And if you do it intelligently, you can stand near range dpsers to heal them as well with your AoE heal. So healing in 1.2 is still very very plausible, though in some fights, the healer can have one of the roughest roles (i.e. EC tanks, if you're a healer healing around the lightning tank). It's not all doom in gloom, it just forces us to do a small iota of extra healing. If you find that you're having real problems healing, then try healing different. I, personally, rely a lot on the HoT, channel skill, and our big heal, plus AOE heals when needed. I really only use the fast heal when it is absolutely needed (i.e. I had a brain fart and didn't notice someone was dying until last moments). HoT + Channel puts in a lot of healing, and costs very little force to do. For trying to heal OPs, it is good to have decent amounts of power to make your heals more effective. I can make my HoT's crit for over 1000 a tick. So, if you have problems, don't just give up healing if you want to heal. In other MMO's Ive been purely DPS. This is the first one I've done healing, and its actually made raiding a bit more fun. I've done DPS sage OPs, and its just a lot more boring than healing. Plus, as a healer, you're less expendable than a random range DPS, so the tanks tend to try to save you more often If you're worried about PvP, don't judge healing from PvP, since it is very random on how well healing does. I've easily done over 350k healing in a match, and the people I PvP with love healers when they do their jobs correctly and keep them alive. I've also had matches with premades that focus a lot on healers and its hard to get many heals in. Healing after 1.2 is still just as good as before, and I think healers will endure after 1.3. Its all about adapting, and thinking of new ways. Healing takes more thought than dps. I've sat in raids in several MMOs as DPS and alt-tabbed out of my screen during inductions, etc becaue if I miss a few dps attacks, its no biggie. If you miss a few heals, you can wipe your raid.
