  1. I'm considering switching servers because the guild I'm in is on hiatus. If there's an opening for your DP team, I'd be happy to move. I'm a DPS Shadow, 4th on the current leaderboard before Torparse got wonky and currently 5/5 NiM (with Timed Run) and 4/5 NiM DP. I run a Balance Shadow. Link to my kills are .
  2. I'm considering switching servers because I'm in Singapore and I'm having trouble finding a convenient raiding time. If there's an opening, I'd be happy to move so I can hang out with people during my rest hours, rather than early in the morning. I'm a DPS Shadow, 4th on the current leaderboard before Torparse got wonky and currently 5/5 NiM (with Timed Run) and 4/5 NiM DP. I run a Balance Shadow. Link to my kills are . I'm also really active in GSF and depending on the crowd, I might consider also moving my other 6 55 Pub toons.
  3. Now, now... CLEARLY this is working as intended for RP reasons. I've always wanted to flash in someone's field of vision for a split second.
  4. Yes, I taunt while she shoots the tank at the start of the burn phase. So I take the second and third strikes (she'll pick me up twice in succession), then she'll usually pick up the Sentinel or Gunslinger (using Parsec's Raid Threat table to ensure they use a defensive cooldown prior to being picked up) and I might take the fifth (depending on my health) pick up before we get to four stacks and the Vangaurd DPS takes over taunting. Using a threat table tells you who she'll pick up next as her attack lowers the target's threat.
  5. Because apparently we ain't squishy =P It just works for my team somehow. I don't doubt it. I'm not horrible at it, and I love how you can bug it out when you stealth out before the droid phase and make it such that each droid being killed sends you out of combat and gives you Force Potency every other droid. #op #winning
  6. Because I just do more damage with it despite the theory and practices of others showing otherwise. It's the spec I'm better at, no real issue than preference. Optimally, I'd rather go Tank, place a healing Phasewalk, respec to Infiltration for the fight, then respec in the 10 second Supremacy cast to Balance. Either way, not related to the thread, let's not have that discussion now. I don't want to get started on that debate. Edit: Oh just remembered why. My guild has me taunt between stacks 1-3 so I can't be behind her. The Vanguard DPS taunts from 4-7 stacks. The healers prefer it this way so they can focus their healing.
  7. Well it's never done that before and usually it's pretty useful and looks like . I still get to save Speed for the second droid, but I get to plant my Breach on something to help my chances of getting my Spinning Strike procs and waiting to get a confirmation on which direction the beam is gonna go. I get to start on the finger that's closest to where the second hand will be during the burn phase and it'll come off cooldown before I get knocked back. This doesn't apply if the beam goes the usual direction and I use the pre-planted phasewalk to jump from thid last to second last droid, so I'd need to right-click phasewalk off or let it expire. Edit: Mind you, I used to have problems when I misjudged the 60m distance but once I got it down, it was pretty helpful. Though in my OP, since phasewalk actually gets put on cooldown, it means the game actually reads me as teleported. That's what made me so confused.
  8. That's the recording of our server first, with added guildies being hungry and one barring in the last few phases of Brontes on my part. =P
  9. I mean, there's nothing like happening to make me die a little on the inside. Honestly, it's the first time this has happened to me, and most of the time it helps me to just move to the left and teleport over if Brontes fires in the other direction so I always do it, but this was just sad. Luckily, it's not a common thing, but just fyi Bioware, in case you were intending on making Phasewalk a big deal in 3.0...
  10. Omg, you need to depend on people in ops and operate as an efficient TEAM? Scandalous!
  11. Well I can't speak on Knightrider's behalf, but as one of the highest parsing Shadows around, I assume he isn't being carried. As for the video with the Balance Shadow, I have the second highest DPS parse for the fight in my team, beating the Assault Vanguard and Sharpshooter Gunslinger, but losing to the Watchman Sentinel. Yes, my weakest phase is the droids phase, but since suppression stacks can stack on each other, theorycrafting could go around in circles if you wanna discuss multiple Balance users. When we were first working on it, we actually ran two Balance Shadows so that we could alternate FiBs and throw all our DoTs. That would actually allow for all the suppression stacks to be taken and somehow that did better than having a Gunslinger in his spot that parsed the same amount of damage in practice. The Gunslinger was brought on later after we swapped toons around again and the Sentinel and I could neaten our rotations so that we could bring a Gunslinger shield for the burn phase. Also, that can be said about a lot of combinations. I've not seen many (any in fact tbh, but I believe there would be some out there) NiM teams that are running 4 of the exact same DPS and successfully taking down NiM content at the moment. The point I'm trying to make is less 'any team combination works' and more 'yes you can be useful, and not a liability' if you're really good at your class. You'd definitely need to compete with anyone who has the same class/spec as you, and you need to identify how your abilities let you have certain advantages. Example, by running two Shadows in NiM Tyrans, we can have a simpler time dragging him around since the Shadows will just take off the two corner platforms with Phasewalk. Resilience can be a god send in Bronte's burn phase to help take orbs to buy the team more time. Straight up, the Shadow will take effort and creative thinking, to work at a NiM level. You will need a team composition that works with you, but that doesn't mean that you cannot find a way to fit perfectly into a composition either.
  12. Haven't had the time to go through the entire thread but from what I've seen and experienced, Infiltration can work based on the design of the current operations, however, you're ops team (in NiM, at least) will need to work around your limitations. It's possible, but you will end up being another factor to account for. I like to see Infiltration has having larger pros AND larger cons than Balance. So to answer your question of "So can i be an infiltration shadow in pve and be useful?", the answer is "Yes, but selectively".The unfortunate truth, is that there is very little you can do (especially at a NiM level) that a Scrapper Scoundrel cannot do better, but Infiltration is usable. On the other hand, Balance isn't all-round better than Infiltration, it has higher effective health due to self-heals, but lower immediate survivability. It doesn't have a movement speed buff, but has more range options and can still deal damage when forced to break off the target for awhile. As a whole, I give less benefits to the group other than my damage, BUT I also have less overall shortcomings for them to factor in. At the end of the day, Shadows have completed Nightmare fights like Brontes with both and , without needing to be carried. (I just searched 'shadow dps nim brontes' and got those within the first five results. There's probably been more than that too.)
  13. On a purely wishful level, I'd like more group utility in PvE and/or mobility options. I'd be so happy if they had something simple like a 20% movement speed buff while within range and LoS of your phasewalk. Not sure how'd that affect PvP. Alternatively, another defensive cooldown would be nice, so I can have the same functions as a Vanguard DPS when I need to taunt an add for a bit. Also, perhaps Infiltration could get a reduced cooldown or no cooldown on their out of combat rez since most guilds would rather take a Scrapper Scoundrel for NiMs, due to Defense Screen, and more stealth rez's. Oh, and for tanks, I think they need to allow the Utility Skills to allow Shadow tanks to not be so disadvantaged in fights where Defense is the crucial stat.
  14. I think so too, because I started dragging up the chat.
