  2. Yes every guild in the game has their tank roles filled thus the OP shouldn't play one /sarcasm. Ignore this guy. There are always more people looking to raid and tanks are always needed. Its best to establish yourself with a group if you want to do endgame content. Other than that, the above posts have covered what means to be a tank.
  3. I must be 1337 status then AoE threat is the only time I notice having a harder time than other tanks.
  4. Pretty much my experience. I prefer grouping within my guild because most of them know whats going on. When I group outside my guild its hit or miss with their competence. As a tank though I end up telling most people what to do (kill order, cc, etc) if they don't seem to know the intricacies of pulling mobs in a group. With people I routinely play with they know what to cc and so on. In short: Grouping with randoms demands more cooperation. With a known group everyone knows their role.
  5. I use Force Push to create groups like when there are ranged enemies who are a good distance apart I will leap to the one that's farthest, then push him to a group and leap to him again. And then you have yourself a nice group for the DPS to AoE down The rest of the time I use it is to knock things off cliffs or get adds of a healer. It's a situational ability not a threat generation ability. Plus it's on a 1 min CD even further proof its not meant for threat gen. It's a situational ability. Your friend probably thinks Force Leap is the main focus generator because you can leap, push, leap in quick succession (also probably why he thinks push is a threat generator) since push resets leap's cooldown. When you do this you are at 6 focus. Other than that Force Leap is used as an opener to a fight and Sundering Strike, Strike and Soresu form are what build our focus on a regular basis.
  6. Thats not a bad idea but it depends on how much they give you for one completion. If they made the bosses drop daily coms then you could only complete that lvl 50 FP once a day or people could farm the easiest FP for the Rakata pieces in a day. The other option is to make a daily and/or weekly to complete the normal 50 FPs for daily coms with the reward somewhere equal to the amount of coms you can get from running the solo dailies in a similar amount of time. In other words the com reward has to be enough to justify running the FP. With the daily/weekly the bosses still drop gear (orange or blue maybe an aritifact). As it stands now the best thing to do is the dailies on Ilum and Belsavis. If you want your group to get better at their roles, then do them together. The heroics on Belsavis will provide enough challenge for you group considering your pace through normal FE.
  7. Its utter BS that the best way to gear for PvE is to grind the incredibly boring and frustrating PvP. Right now end game has no focus and it seems like BW only wants to improve PvP over PvE. The constant "balancing" of classes comes from all the whiners in PvP who get beat by a particular class, so the nerf bat hits them which affects their capabilities in PvE. PvP gets all the love right now because their PvE endgame is so minimal that its barely even there. So all the updates come for PvP so that more players have something to do at 50 until PvE gets some love.
  8. Get to 50 then offer your opinions about Guardians. Low level is by no means representative of end game when everyone has all their skills and are fully specced. Eoin - 50 Guardian Tank (Full Columi Gear) - Ajunta Pall
  9. This seems to be your biggest problem. Only 50 people on the Republic Fleet when you play is a really low population. My server has 160 people on the fleet when I play and it rarely dips below 100 in the off hours time. That being said I rarely see people LF Tank for ops. If you want to tank at endgame you need to find a guild that needs a tank. P.S. I tank Ops every week with my guild.
  10. Exactly what everyone should do. If you wipe on him have the raid leader do a quick reset then go attempt him again. It's really not that big of a deal. Now to help everyone with P3 Dealing with his aggro "drop" is not that hard. If you time your taunts properly you should always be able to get him under the pylons. When you first see a pylon coming you should run towards it and when you get near it then taunt him. It should pull him far enough to the pylon that when it falls he is there. That one taunt should be enough, if it isn't use your AoE taunt. Now that his shield is down you dps does their job and your single target taunt should be off CD. Rinse and repeat till he is dead. TL;DR 1. Position yourself properly 2. Time your taunts to get him to you as pylon is arriving 3. ???? 4. Profit
  11. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=176836 This will suggest how to gear up at 50 through PvE. What I did was the Ilum and Belsavis PvE dailies that give daily commendations. Everytime you gather 8 of them you can turn them in to a mission support vendor for level 50 epic modifications, primarily armoring and weapons modifications (hilts and barrels). Then there are daily heroics that give level 50 epic enhancements and mods. 1 Heroic on Ilum --> Epic Enhancement 2 Heroics on Belsavis --> 1 gives a mod, not sure what the other gives Do these for a few days and you will be ready for HMs. Of course you could always do PvP since that's the easiest way to gear up right now.
  12. I can't tell you how many times I thought to myself "Man, this Jedi story is such a waste of time I really wish I could sit in that chair over there." Also you played WoW for 6 years cool. SWTOR has been out for a month and a half and still has a lot of growing to do. Comparing WoW 7 years after release to SWTOR is not fair. WoW is mind numbing and the story is incredibly incoherent.
  13. I don't like this idea because some class's story missions are pretty hard even if you are over leveled (the Knight missions mostly). The only way I could beat some was because I was over level, so if they automatically made the phased mission my level it would be near impossible. I like the way it is, makes me feel heroic like they wanted.
