I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you still get the companion affection benefits based on what you wanted to say in the conversations. This functions, I think, in the same way that the Light Side / Dark Side point gain works (that is, you get what you RP for, not what the roll-winner chose to say.)

As far as I can tell, they did a wave of access between 6 and 7 AM (CST) and one just over an hour later. My guess? They're letting people in every hour or so, giving time for servers to stabilize with the load of users.
