  1. Well I just blew 2 million to access target dummies at my estate and had this problem on my first attempt. /stuck did nothing to remove me...it just teleported me. Can’t do anything. SO MUCH FOR HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE.
  2. After great time and expense and crafting, I purchased a “Luxury Bed (Plum)” from a Fleet Prefab droid for my very expensive Stronghold. When I went to place it on the hook, it wasn’t available, yet an enormous Star fortress stasis bunk showed up instead. Clicking the hypertext for the luxury bed shows that I have unlocked it and shows the correct image of a luxurious bed with plum dressings, yet it is not in my inventory for use. This was quite infuriating as I spent considerable time attempting to trouble shoot this issue. EDIT: I solved the problem. I can’t figure out How to delete this thread
  3. My wife and I resubbed three weeks ago and were enjoying the story immensely, until the climax of the final act, which I cannot beat, even after obtaining very high level gear. It was the most anti-climactic event of my gaming career. It was harder than getting my Legendary Cloak in Mists of Pandaria in WoW. at least I was finally able to outgear that event. Can't do that here. So...leaving the story UNfinished, I have been doing ship battles, galactic starfighter and PVP while catching up on some quetsts I hadn't done. My failure in the story and being unable to see the story to its conclusion leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but that hasn't made me unsub. I would recommend resubbing for at least a month and see how you like it, then decide at the end of 30 days.
  4. Thanks! The Pubs on Ebon Hawk have been very generous by inviting me along, knowing I would not be contributing. If I get one or two kills in per match I am doing well. I am impressed with how friendly this group is on both sides of the faction line. I have not experienced that in any other kind of PVP except in a couple of Overwatch matches. I THINK I am learning and improving, but it is as difficult as it is fun.
  5. That's hilarious. They said that about this game. And Rift, Terra, ArchAge, AION, GW2, LOTR, Neverwinter, Eve, Wildstar, Elder Scrolls, and the list goes on. Every new hot MMO is a flash in the pan that thinks, because of a temporary surge of interest for the new shiny, it will overtake WoW. The "wowkiller" they call it. That is just never going to happen, for a multitude of reasons (fan loyalty being supreme). Oh, it may occur for a few months, like The Monkees outselling The Beatles for a time in 1966, but that is just not going to happen in a world where, as one person in this thread said, gamers are like locusts.
  6. Thank you for this. I agree completely. I enjoy soloing the story and levelling process. My wife and I occasionally play together, but I find playing with other players ruins my pace. You have to stop for a break when they do or stop to farm trade mats or they went in a different direction or pulled a different set of mobs. I am finding this trend to solo much of the content seems to be a new standard in MMO's for these reasons, unlike a decade ago when we always levelled with friends in MMOs (maybe because they were new?) But even solo players enjoy some of the group content. Buying and selling from each other, dungeons, PVP and GSF. I think SWTOR has the perfect mix of solo story line for me, while having enough content to keep me playing some aspects with other people. If the game was all group content, the story would fail and we might sit around half the dayu waiting for queues to pop. Now I can pursue a story line while waiting for my warzone or GSF battle. And I am willing to sub to play the game both ways.
  7. Just Wow! After Remalina's excellent post, I hadn't expected so many more responses. The fact that they were all helpful and completely without flaming or condescention was a huge plus! As for Drakkolich's questions: I was a founder that played heavily until FTP occurred, then dropped out, but occasionally checked back in. About three weeks ago I popped back in, and after a few days, decided to subscribe again. My intention is to continue this for the future. I don't see myself leaving any time soon. The character I am playing with currently is Hildreth Autumnsbane, a level 70 Jedi Shadow on Republic side of Ebon Hawk. I can most commonly be found playing in the range of 7 to 10:45 PM EST weekdays, depending on work and life, and almost any time on weekends. I am currently not in a guild, and due to my current inexperience, have been reluctant to find one, so as not to bring anybody down with my incompetence. But my plan is definately to play with others once my confidence is higher. Thanks everyone who responded. I don't know if this system is cross-server (like dungeons in warcraft) so I may see some of you in game.
  8. I thought the same exact thing. I thought it was highly amusing for someone to ASK for gripes on a games forum. But since he asked: Chapter IX of the final storyline running from level 65 to 70 is WAY too difficult in STORY mode. The difficulty is inconsistent with ALL other STORY level content until that point and casual players should not need to be raid-quality players to beat an encounter they looked forward to doing for the previous five levels. This is especially true for new players using the boost. It is unforgiving and requires flawless execution of movement, interrupts and heals that are on long coldowns, and requires a level of power that the gear acquired during that story seems insufficient to handle. No story mode content should ever be that difficult. By all means, make Veteran and Master levels as hard as you want. Hard Core players with high levels of skill and quick reflexes have content that challenges them, and that is fine. But not allowing less skilled players to finish a story due to a defecit of skill in an overtuned fight is simply not fair. And from a business point of view, driving off newly subscribed players because you make them feel inadequate is a bad thing in a game that I keep hearing "is dying".
  9. While I cannot diagnose your mental health, I can give you my perspective. As a Founder who disappeared after SWTOR went FTP, I recently became quite nostalgic for all things Star Wars. With the release of Rogue One, rewatching The Force Awakens and the tragic death of Carrie Fisher, I began to long for the days when Star Wars was part of my life on a daily basis. I pulled out the pillow case that has survived since 1977 when the sheets and blankets long ago died, and decided to resub to this game. My wife resubbed the next day. We are both having a blast, with the exception of not being able to complete the final chapter !X story encounter (which almost made me quit again). It hs been an amazing experience. I suspect that others have been, or will be, in a similar place, in which they need Star Wars back in their lives. So whether they try this game for the first time, or are returning players, I think you may actually see at least a minimal uptick. Or maybe players like us will just stop the bleeding, if things are as you perceive. Just my two cents.
  10. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much! This is exactly what I wanted! have a great day!
  11. I just discovered these ship battles a couple of days ago, and am really intrigued by them. I have done perhaps four of them so far and performed terribly. My damage was low, I died 4 to 7 times each battle, got 2-3 asists and no kills (even though it REALLY looked like I killed some). We won every time, no thanks to me. After my first battle, I was given currency as a reward and have been reluctant to spend it for fear of wasting it. Even after browsing Stacie's amazingly detailed and comprehensive guide, I am still more confused by this system than I have ever been in any game system. So while I could use tons of advice, I will narrow my question to one: What is the FIRST thing I should spend this currency on? A new ship? a follower? specific weapons? All advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  12. First of all, comparing SWTOR, an aging MMO, to Overwatch, a state of the art, brand new first person shooter with competitive modes and the Blizzard secret sauce, is like comparing Dungeons and Dragons to the NFL. It's simply an unfair comparison. the only similarity is that they are both games. Secondly, there IS gambling in Overwatch. Every time you buy a loot box, you take a gamble that you might or might not get that skin you want, and so people are spending money on an uncertain purchase. I know. I play it. And I have shelled out lots of cash to gamble in Overwatch.
  13. This is appropriate, fair and logical. As for the rest of it, a sub fee still makes sense to keep a game with this kind of overhead going, expansions coming and customer support being a thing. I agree that the FTP model was one of the worst (which is why I unsubbed when SWTOR went FTP), but the value to subscribers has gone way up since then.
  14. I am a returning Founder who dropped out after SWTOR went FTP. My wife and I have both returned AND subscribed and have barely touched another game since, we have loved it THAT much. Despite the fact that none of my mini-army of toons had reached level 65, I decided to do the 65 boost. I thoroughly enjoyed the excellent story and fast paced game play from 65 to 70, and have not gone to bed at a reasonable hour since starting. Then it happened. I hit level 70 and began the final chapter. I will not give details because I won't spoil it for those who have not played through. I am on the verge of quitting again and here is why. There are different types of players. Some (those who claim this encounter was easy) are highly skilled, with deep understanding of every game mechanic and have youthful, gamer reflexes, likely from years of time on game consoles. They play hard at end game raiding and kick butt n PVP. Then there are players like me, who don't get every nuance, have poor reflexes (let's just say I am old enough to have seen the original Star Wars IN the theater) and play the game for its beautiful design and rich story telling. I assume this is why there are three modes of play, story, veteran and master. If the Hell I just went through over the past 48 hours is any indication of what STORY mode play difficulty will be, I don't see myself, my wife, or others like us, sticking around. I just don't want to pay 15 bucks a month to be brutalized. Why is this encounter so highly tuned at story level? I am not the only one who has had trouble, as I have seen on the forums. And here are the reasons this is just terrible in every way: 1. Story mode should be simple enough, not a cake walk, but easy enough for players of ALL skills to accomplish at the appropriate level with gear found in the normal course of questing. 2. When I had difficulty with story bosses in the past, I would simply return when I was higher level. I can't outlevel this encounter because I am at the cap. 3. One can usually return when he or she outgears the encounter. I spent almost every credit I have on upgrades (and repairs), and most of my gear is now 220, with a couple of pieces being 208 and 210, and one being 228, My weapon is 230. I got some good stims and healing kits and I still can't get the encounter below a third of health after hours of trying. 4. I have no desire to raid in this game, and this is essentially raid boss difficulty, but without a team or even a companion, to help me. The mechanics are complex, with movement, interrupts (when they work), and the ability to break stuns or heal leaving no room for error. One must execute flawlessly, and the cool downs do not even reset when the encounter does, so new attempts leave you at a disadvantage. 5. Some gamers have limited time to play your game. Between work, commutes, chores, school, and other obligations (like sleep), we just don't have the time to log on for two hours and spend the whole time failing. It's all stick and no carrot. I have played almost every MMO on the market and, even when not playing this game, considered SWTOR to be one of the best BECAUSE of its easy going nature and story line. I know that if this was my first MMO, or my first time playing this game, I would have hit this point, lost all of my money and hair, and after returning from the ER after my stroke or heart attack, said screw this and unsubbed. I am not unsubbing. This is not one of those posts where the author complains and then quits. But I have no desire to further humiliate myself attempting this climactic fight. It's not worth an ulcer. I can figure out the ending without actually completing it. I will merely continue to play in other ways, and if there is another level increase, try it again at level 75 or 80. But this is simply not good game design and not a very nice way to treat paying customers. If you want to make it really hard for Veteran mode and near impossible for good players in master mode, okay. But to make this very long, tricky fight THIS hard in a vital quest chain on the simplest mode is simply poor game design, unfair to new and casual players and an easy reason for people to quit. PLEASE adjust the difficulty of this fight. Thank you for your time.
  15. In my current post level 65 story line, my Republic female character flirted with an imperial female character. Does this mean they finally implemented same gender romance?
