  1. Did anyone else laugh really hard when Ganadorf had to correct his name a few times? Also, the way bug fixing works, it's entirely possible a minor fix paves the way for a larger fix to be implemented. The whole baby name thing...IDK, but does it even matter? I'm assuming it's like 2-3 seconds of them opening up the credits file and typing in a new name. Troll Comment: Do you guys hate babies or something?
  2. If I could make an entire post filled with nothing but <3 and not be obnoxious, I totally would. Instead, I'll settle for just filling up an entire line. <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
  3. I bolded the important part. They don't want multiple Player Characters beating on one mob, but after some forethought they realized it's highly impractical to have it any other way. In any game where there are multiple players and a boss fight is inevitable, eventually it always boils down to a bunch of guys ganging up on another guy. One thing I thing I think SWTOR has done a great job on is the encounters leading up to the boss fight though. They all feel very dynamic and awesome. Even when I'm breezing through some of the content cause of my level, I still have this inexplicable feeling of tension, something I can't say I quite got while playing WoW. Granted, this is my first time playing a tanking class (Vanguard), so it's possible every tank feels this way while DPS classes do the standard faceroll, but I don't know. But yeah, when they first said that, I totally bought it, then I came back to reality after a few days and especially after seeing the EV video, lol. I don't think it's a negative for the game, it's just a reality of game development. They do have a few situations where players are forced to work together instead of just wailing on the boss. As far as the world bosses go, they're large enough to where I think it's fair to say you would "realistically" need a few heroes to down those.
  4. I gave my companion my PVP gear hand-me-downs. Granted, this was before the last patch so it's possible something may have changed. Assuming nothing has changed though, I'd suggest making an in game ticket if the issue persists. That response sounds lame as it doesn't actually help you resolve your problem, but if what you have is an actual bug then you'd be doing the community a great favor reporting it. I imagine other people might be experiencing the same issue as well if this is the case.
  5. It's rather obvious I'm taking damage. What is driving me insane is not knowing where the damage is coming from, especially when I'm being hit by 6 things at once and I'm 95% sure that at least one of those things shouldn't be hitting me.
  6. I have a friend who actively looks at lists to see what is the "best". It makes me sad.
  7. BW reps have said to call customer service and have them do it. But according to the OP, it's not working. It could be the circumstances are different. If he uninstalled the app, then he doesn't have access to the serial/registration number that was used on the original app. As a result he can't provide it to them for removal. Before you do anything with your App, I would contact CS (the wait will most certainly suck by phone so I'd try email if you'd rather wait a few days instead of being glued to your phone) and find out the necessary steps from them.
  8. It honestly depends on the type of maintenance being done. Hardware maintenance is usually checking the physical components of the server to make sure everything is in working order. Running diagnostics on the ram and CPU and replacing where necessary. Cleaning out the insides and swapping out fans if needed. Double checking the cabling or replacing whole units, things like that. The software side usually involves running diagnostics on the server OS and checking to make sure that the routing tables are up to date. Sometimes updates are done to the servers to make them more secure to prevent DDOS attacks from taking them down or hackers gaining entry. Sometimes changes are made to the settings for both the hardware and OS using existing components (so it's not technically an upgrade) that result in the whole thing running faster. Or changes are made to the OS to enable new hardware, or new hardware is swapped in when it turns out to be a pain to get working with the OS. And sometimes it's just plain ol' diagnostic tests where they hammer the server to see how much it can take or run through different scenarios to see how it will react so the admins know how to respond accordingly. All in all, these are all things that are absolutely necessary to make sure the servers can continue to run smoothly. So that's why when I hear maintenance in the context of the MMO world I assume all of the above is taking place to some extent. But you know what they say about assuming.....
  9. I can't wait for the combat log to appear. I've been noticing that even when I stand out of the ability indicator for some abilities that mobs throw up (the little floating orb that spews fire for instance) it still seems like I'm being hit. I could be five meters away from the circle and it seems like I'm still taking damage from it. It's been driving me mad. I have to know if it's bugged or if I'm being hit by something else before I make a support ticket for it.
  10. If everything I've been reading is true, assuming the security key is already tied to your account, uninstalling it could quite possibly be the worst thing you can do at this point in time.
  11. main·te·nance noun /ˈmānt(ə)nəns/  /ˈmāntn-əns/  The process of maintaining or preserving someone or something, or the state of being maintained - crucial conditions for the maintenance of democratic government The process of keeping something in good condition - car maintenance - essential maintenance work That's the literal definition. From doing tech support for 5 years, most server admins also use the phrase when they're doing optimization to increase server performance or add new features. A lot of times, maintenance and server updates go hand in hand. Some updates are announced to clients (i.e, customers), but more often than not the changes are only told internally and most of the time are changes that are being made that lead up to an update that will be announced to customers. It sounds like what's going on is a language disconnect.
  12. I agree 100%. You'd think the solution would be as simple as resetting your account or toggling a switch of some sort to turn the authenticator off for the time being...but the fix for things that seem easy is never really easy. It's a shame that this is causing you to unsub, but it's inane to bash someone who won't pay for a product they can't use -_- Thanks for the authenticator warning though. I was thinking about switching from the one on my ipod to this android phone I got recently. Now I know it would be a bad idea.
  13. Hrm, I guess I have a different impression on what maintenance entails. Even if it's not client side fixes, usually when maintenance of any sort is being done, it's to fix something that is broken or optimize something. So it's possible that we won't suddenly see the BH class quest working or the JK being able to smooch his female companion, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that some of the client/server issues will be resolved. Maybe have queue times drop. Maybe some other random thing that possibly improves the way the game performs. I apologize if my usage of the phrase "bug fixes" offended you. It's rather obvious in hindsight that with a billion+ people on the planet (each with their own thought processes) you would have no way of knowing what I really meant when I typed that out. Silly me.
  14. I fully support this. Why? Because tears are delicious.
