You can pull out all the mods from those pieces before RE them. As for the armoring - you may put it only in the same gear slot, for example leg armoring can be placed only in legs. When you RE campaign item, you may learn schematic for orange item with the campaign item look. It is empty, without any mods. Just like any other orange. As for the mats for those orange items - they drops and can be found in boxes in Denova.

every orange crafted Synthweaving "set" looks ugly, at least for female. Can't compare to the new tier.

so, what is the point of making incredibly good looking sorcerer new tier if we can't enjoy it cause it is better to use orange gear with augments. And that crafted Synthweaving gear looks terrible...

i am sorcerer and i use her only now when i am level 50. Geared her up and she is nice as a dps. About the other companions - ppl who say that Talos is useless for sorcerers in my case are very wrong. Since i got him i am using only him. Khem is weak, he dies alot and i don't rly need tank if i have good healer. Talos is very well geared and i can kill almost anything with him. While leveling i had zero downtime with Talos - i was always full hp, he was aswell not like with Khem when i had to heal him -.- Now at level 50 i use only Ashara or Talos - love them both.
