  1. I was wondering what would be the best dps class. But, because there are many things affecting one's damage output, maybe we can consider what follows : Hypothesis 1 : The player knows how to play its class Hypothesis 2 : Consider equivalent gear That question came to my mind when I read people say that SWTOR is a VERY gear dependant game. I would think it's true, but how much dependant? That's why I was wondering if, maybe, every damage class has similar damage output (if we suppose good gear and skills). What do you think?
  2. I understand your point and I agree with you. I would not remove the Vote Kick. BUT! Allowing players to kick people is also assuming the risk that dumb players will have fun kicking others for almost no reason. For example : Kick the guy at the first mistake he makes.
  3. I don't mean to be rude and don't take it as such, but your thread is purely subjective. You compare 2 games using your personal tastes. For instance, just when you say that SWTOR isn't fun....? This is not a fact at all. You do not find it fun. If you find Rift funnier, good for you. I personaly have fun playing SWTOR. I'm not saying that all that you said was ******** (you are kind of right about the F2P limitations), but again, you more or less listed what you personaly think of SWTOR versus what you think of Rift. This is not a factual comparison. But hey, maybe I was wrong and that's not what you meant to do. But I thought the goal here was to objectively compare the games.
  4. One could have guessed this would have happened (oveflow of immature people) when the game adpoted a Free 2 Play option. This is a big trend nowadays to have free 2 play online gaming, but that also creates the problem that you get a community that is overall younger. Kind of normal, as you don't need money anymore to play the game. So you can be 11 and play. While we can say F2P saved SWTOR, it also brought a decent amount of, sorry, dumb people. And I'm not saying that every young kid is retarded or immature. Just saying that often, FREE = Bait for immatures and dumbs.
  5. Cool, this all makes a lot of sense! I think I'll need to find a post somewhere, or perhaps swtor.wikia, to find everything that is new in the game! It seems to me like it improved a lot and really deserves another try.
  6. Hum ok I understand what you mean. A player that has not even gone through the HM Flashpoints, you should not be queuing for HM Ops. Makes perfect sense. But, my question would then be : Is it really impossible to go through a HM Op with very average gear? By impossible I mean, no matter how good a player you are you just won't survive the fights? Sorry if I ask a lot of noobish questions, as I said, I have just come back to SWTOR and I try to bring more friends of mine to the game. So I am trying to "plan" things out a little bit.
  7. Wow ok thanks a lot, great way to summarize things. I might get you wrong but you seem to have a problem with the fact that there is no check on "gear", therefore you can end up in a group with people having bad gear. While it can clearly be a downpoint, I think it would be a bad idea to have a "gear check" in the tool. How would under-geared players manage to get decent gear if you penalize them and make it hard for them to group up and run flashpoints. Anyway, that's just a thought.
  8. I would guess that the main critic is about the fact that 55+ people can't queue for 50 ops. That's probably the main problem people have with the tool.
  9. Ok thanks. I thought that people saying HM meant Heroic Missions. My bad. So, would you say that all in all, the Group Finder is a great tool? Cause the comments I read about it were relatively negative. Which is why I was concerned and started this thread, to clarify things.
  10. First of all, I need to point out that I have just rejoined SWTOR. I was part of the launch, but quit after a couple of months for different reasons. So now that I am back, I missed a lot of things. About the group finder tool that is new to me: I keep reading that it does not work for every FP, OP or HM. There are apparently HM, for example, that are not in the group finder. Moreover, I read stuff about level limitations, but that wasn't super clear to me. Something about level 50+ OPs or something? Anybody knows why they decided NOT to put every HM/FP/OP in that tool? I am failing to see the reason. It seems easy to me to just add, for example, Heroic Mission Chamber of Speech that you get at level 8. I know that it's not very difficult to find a partner to do that one, but it's just an example that came to my mind. Thanks for the clarification all
  11. What about level 50+ Operations? I read somewhere on the forums that it is not possible to use the group finder for level 50ish Operations? Is that true and why? Kind of look dumb to me. How difficult would it be to just add them to the list of instances available in the group finder?
  12. Ok thanks, that's pretty much what I was expecting. For sure one of us will role tank and perhaps I'll create another to have a healer. But ya, when we first played (at launch) we were tank+dps. It was relatively long to find groups, but decent. Thanks for the information
  13. Summary TL;DR Is it "relatively" easy to find a group for instances? By easy I mean "it doesn't take an hour +" Thank you
  14. Hello all, I've reinstalled SWTOR this last weekend and was hoping to bring back my brother as well. His biggest concern (and I would say that it's also mine) is the waiting time to find groups for flashpoints, operations and heroic missions. Here are a couple of questions : - Is there a "LFG" tool now? Does it work for everything, even heroic missions? - How long do you need to wait, in average, to have a 5men formed? (Peak hours versus any other time of day) I'm just curious cause well, "Instances" are what we enjoy doing the most and of course, if we can't do that (because of long waiting time), chances are we'll stop playing after the first month... Thank you for your help, see you in game
