  1. First off, if the power goes out, you are not being charged for power you're not using. You don't continue paying a mechanic for the time he's not working on your car. These two examples are pointless in this case. If my cable goes out for 8 hours or longer, you bet I call and complain. I'm paying for that service regardless of whether it is working or not. Try calling customer service while your cable is out for an extended period of time and complaining. You'll find that it doesn't take much to get a free movie rental, or even a free weekend of a pay-channel. In fact, the most difficult part is waiting on hold until you get to speak to a CS rep. This is especially true if you live in an area with multiple cable providers. In my state, if you schedule a time for the cable company to come and fix your cable, and they fail to show up in the timeframe that was given, then by law, the company has to pay you a service fee for your wasted time. Now, someone posted that your subscription is $.50 per day. That's true, but you're still talking about a paid service in a competitive market. Within that $15 per month that you pay, the costs of running the service and a profit are included. When that service is down, the cost lowers while you are still paying for the same amount for it. Any cartel coins or other token virtual item can be given to subscribers for much less than $.50 per unit. For cartel coins, the cost to them is technically nothing because they already give subscribers free coins. For a company that has repeatedly been ranked among the worst companies in customer service, it sure as hell couldn't hurt to compensate paying customers when service doesn't meet expectations.
  2. I agree with you, OP. Customer satisfaction is paramount in any business. Say you're staying at a hotel. The first morning of your stay, the complimentary breakfast starts late, and you don't have time to eat there because of that delay. When you return to the hotel that evening, you complain to the guest services manager about the breakfast situation. The very first thing any good guest services manager or GM will do is apologize to you for the inconvenience, and then find a way to compensate you. The manager will take a percentage off of your room, give you a few free drinks at the bar, a room service voucher, loyalty points, whatever will make the situation right in your mind. Every hotel chain of reputation has these types of freebies at the ready for precisely this reason. Every restaurant has a similar system to make dissatisfied customers happy. In the entertainment and hospitality industries, the most important thing is that your customers enjoy their experience, and that you do everything you can to make amends when something goes wrong. It's how you keep those customers coming back. It still amazes me that some people can be so clueless as to how business works, or how quickly they'll allow a company to walk right over them. EA/BW has the same tools for this system, and it costs them even less than a restaurant or hotel. Giving a free virtual item or 200 complementary virtual currency costs next to nothing to give out, but buys tons of goodwill.
  3. I reset my password, and it still won't let me log in. Christ, are they trying to get us to quit playing at this point? I guess I'm playing something else, which once again makes me seriously consider why I'm paying $15 a month for this game.
  4. Yep, having the same issue. It lets me enter my login info, but then tells me that login is unavailable. This had better be fixed fast.
  5. I'm not sure that offline gaming would work, however, there's no reason for the game not to be completely solo friendly. In fact, it would actually draw players rather than continually lose them. If instanced PvP and Operations remained group-oriented, but Flashpoints scaled in difficulty and reward amounts to the size of the group, including a single player, it would go a long way toward pleasing the solo-minded gamers who are not interested in grouping. The MMO purists would throw fits over this, but it really would do little to affect their gameplay experience, and would be a smart business move on Bioware's part.
  6. Kashyyyk As many, many others have stated, Kashyyyk is a planet that just never gets old for Star Wars fans and gamers. Obviously, there is a lot that could be done with this planet to advance the SWTOR storyline. The never-ending plight of the exploited wookie homeworld, wookie slavery, and the ongoing war between the Republic and Empire could really be given a human side by adding Kashyyyk to the game. Selonia Selonia, or a planet like Selonia, that gamers are somewhat familiar with, or with the inhabiting species, but hasn't really been previously explored in games. OssusThe Jedi homeworld of Ossus could also be a great place for advancing the story, with the amount of lore surrounding the Jedi and Sith that could be used.
  7. Many players who enjoy crafting are disappointed with how the new crit-crafted orange gear system works. Many were expecting to be able to "level up" their existing green/blue/purple schematics to orange quality, and then have the chance to make these items into augmented gear. Players were also under the impression that Reverse Engineering looted items with no existing schematic would allow a chance to net the schematic for that item, which again would give players the chance at making a critical custom version. Are there any plans to allow schematics learned from crew skill trainers to be leveled to orange quality, and for looted items to be Reverse Engineered for a shot at learning the schematic?
  8. Not only is most of the RE'able 1.2 gear completely hideous, but many of the low-level sets, which are not only better looking, but also much more Star Warsy and iconic, are missing the glove/boot schematics. Even if you were lucky enough to get the custom chest/pants schematics for the set you like, you still can't finish the set. It defeats the purpose of creating a system for players to create a unique look if the system operates in such a way that you either have to have a set of social gear, and a set of combat gear, gimp your character in order to achieve your desired look, or acquire the few full sets of gear that not only look awful, but has the effect that players still wind up all looking the same. It's especially pointless when there are better systems already in place that would have completely accomplished the intended goal.
  9. I congratulate you on being satisfied with the crafting changes in update 1.2, however, judging by the vast majority of the players who've posted in this thread, you're not going to find a lot of agreement with your opinion. While you may have a few schems to work with, as do I, there are many items in the game that do not have an orange schematic. These items, obviously, can't be made into custom augmented items. Many of us believe that a system that allowed you to learn orange schematics from looted orange items, or leveling up green schematics you purchase as part of your actual crafting profession would have been far more useful.
  10. No, what the % chance is on green or blues, is the chance to get the next level schematic. Once you craft an Artifact quality, you cannot RE them again to get a Custom schematic. You also cannot RE orange gear to receive the schematic. The only exceptions are the new top-level gear. Very disappointing.
  11. Hey, while you're fixing this screw-up, if you could just go ahead and make items RE'able for custom orange schems, the community will be a lot happier when the servers come back up...just sayin'.
  12. So, using the logic of your argument, if a person went to an Italian restaurant, and ordered a pasta dish that the menu stated came with chicken, but when it was served, had only two small pieces of chicken in the entire entree, the customer's dissatisfaction would be their own fault for misinterpreting what the menu stated. In any business, customer satisfaction is key, and if BW had sufficiently satisfied their customers with update 1.2, they wouldn't be comping players' subscriptions for a month. It would have taken 250 words or less to clearly state what would, and would not, be part of the crit-crafted custom gear system. BW would not only escaped the blowback that is building in the crew skill forums over this, but also would have received valuable, positive feedback from the community.
  13. You cannot RE most orange armor. Please get a clue before you embarrass yourself in public again.
  14. Ok, one, you can only RE some end-game Artifact gear for a chance at Custom gear, every schematic that you already have, even if you've leveled it to artifact, cannot be RE'd. I don't know if you've looked at most of the end-game gear, but it looks terrible, which is why people want more customized gear in the first place. Only allowing very few items out of all the different appearances in the game to be made into Custom items through the the standard RE system, and instead using the lottery loot system of mission crew skills rewarding schematics, is what has players up in arms. I'm sorry to say, but your argument is simply misinformed.
  15. Well, thank you for clearly articulating the mistake. This was EXACTLY what the community wanted, and was expecting, but was not delivered. Many players believed that update 1.2 would allow them to level up gear to Artifact, and then have the chance to RE the item for a chance at learning the Custom variant. They were also expecting to be able to RE Custom items, but that clearly isn't the case either. Perhaps more clearly defining how the system was going to work, rather than using marketing videos and language in your patch notes would have prevented this blowback, and provided valuable feedback from the community on this system. Allowing players to "copy" their leveled characters with full crafting skills to the test server, instead of asking them to go through the tedium of grinding out another character, would go along way toward receiving better feedback.
