  1. There is no conspiracy behind the current mass exodus. People hate what swtor has become and are leaving. Local moderators, being as cheap as they are, cannot do anything against something that is affecting people directly in-game and causing them to leave, so they'll keep leaving, regardless of how vigilant these topic-movers are and how fast they "respond".
  2. I tend to think with veterans mostly gone, there's too few if any to actually show these new people around, teach and explain. What you call "a lot of content" is too likely to end up being just the solo or / and soloable stuff only for them, they'll do the stories, watch the cutscenes, i,e. play the single player part and leave. And frankly, there's only a couple of really interesting stories (imperial agent, jedi knight, smuggler). Overall swtor, as a single player rpg, looks and feels too outdated. No new decent group content in a long time plus not that much epicness overall story-wise. I hope they (at BWA / EA) are making final prepartions to shut it down and hopefully introduce something fresh.
  3. 14 days of subscription left, I might try ti run thought the 5.0 story once more though. The last / only good thing about swtor was its story but I just can't bring myself to do the newest chapters (let alone the 4.0 ones) or the HK-55 bonus chapter again, once finished them on my main. Bored, bored, bored... To hell with the eternal grinding, to hell with this fiercely anti-alt system which is nothing but a cheap excuse to force people to stay subscribed and do the old and very old crap over and over, to hell with rng x rng x rng x rng....and effin drop chances from ops bosses where it used to be guaranteed drops. I suppose every mmo out there recycles content to a certain extent to swtor has recycled itself to death. At least people seem to be waking up this time and simply walking away from this BS. About time that reliance on the fact that it's star wars seems to be finally failing this atrocious mix of overconfidence and incompetence which is so strong with BW Austin.
  4. I like your optimism Personaly, I prefer to think that, given the almost a year old news that Mass Effect Andromeda was basically finished and the fact that why would a Mass Effect team require his specific ops and flashpoints designing skills, BW seems to be working on a new mmo, most likely mass effect mmo. So many signs (starting from the 2018 expertise "easter egg") and opinions show that swtor has about 2 years left of active online. Well, signs and opinions are all we have, BW surely can't afford to announce the year 2018 as the last swtor year, would be very bad for business. Swtor 2, probably...but this news allows to think that it's more probably mass effect mmo. They have this amazing sci-fi mass effect universe, they're not bound by any licence or lore restrictions, the possibility of it was mentioned by BW representatives officially in interviews (and each time they said it's a great idea with tons of potential, never anything like "wouldn't work, mass effect is single player experience only etc...). Well, I'd be glad to see all the experience and lessons learned from swtor implemented in mass effect mmo
  5. I was about to stop being a sub too when they neutralized the effectiveness of companions and thus made the solo gameplay experience essentially miserable, however, they more or less corrected that mistake. But as for the December rewards, people have gone too far with whining and overreacting. Take BW for what it is, you know they tend to overhype, just like any other game developer (remember the hype about battlefront and what shallow dull restricted in any possible way game it turned out to be?) I knew about the stream and decided to just check it out and see, without being overexcited or jumping with impatience, and I found the rewards quite good. In fact, it's an actual evolution from being simply not limited in gameplay options and very occasionally getting a lil' something like a mount + pet combo once/twice a year, as it was before. Subscribers only rewards it's a huge step forward.
  6. If you think you like it. go ahead, otherwise don't waste time. I recall feeling something similar in battlefield hardline beta. Insanely unbalanced guns and cheaters-infested since beta day 1, played some hours and went back to battlefield 4, never regretted
  7. It might be more fun if we could use our personal ships or get some kinda legacy ship that would allow us to envade planets and get conquests buffs of our choices. When every player (not selected vip's aka officers) is free to decide where their legacy ship is parked, for how long and how and in which manner it's decorated, probably it'll be more interesting.
  8. Yeah, already tried. Feels and looks kinda mediocre. Like half-baked battlefield. In addition, no battlelog and no server browser makes this game surpsingly easy to skip.
  9. "Many" is not good enough unless you'll be able to at least choose which ones will fill the available companion slots in your crew (and that appears to be already pre-filled with Lana, Marrr and so on). Good for you if, say, Vette was your favourite companion and it'd be all the same to you whether she's your companion or just exists somwehere in the game as a npc. But a cutscene guest apperance as a comeback is not acceptable at all for the OP and many other players.
  10. You really totally don't get it, do you? The difference between having your fave companion (buddy or romanced one) side by side in your squad and a [bitter] realization that they're somewhere there in the game and can be met and interacted with at some point in one or two of the chapters but once dialogues are finished and cutscenes watched, they're gone. Like someone else said in another thread, I also happen to like Corso Riggs and I refuse to participate in this Outlander bull**** if it costs me my vanilla swtor companions. Sure will use my sub's 1 insta level 65 to watch the story then unsub and resub later to watch the remaining chapters. If BW is cool with losing a yet another segment of their sub's base by converting people's fave companions into unrecruitable npc's that will do ocasional cameos, so be it. I'd like to check out what it's like to have Theron or Lana or Marr as companions but not at the expense of Corso or Torian or Nadia or even Skadge
  11. Well that would seem like the best workaround at the moment although it feels so wrong that it has come to this. So many people looking for a way to keep current class companions as companions and not get stuck at level 60. Well, BW did piss off pvp-ers long ago, high-end pve-ers are gonna find themselves on a diet in 4.0, was it just a matter of time when BW would come up with a way to anger single-player story lovers?
  12. As a matter of fact, if you combine those who will leave because of no new ops with those who will leave because of BW's d*ck move regarding classic, vanilla companions, this 4.0 might do even more damage than 3.0
  13. Same, I'm leveling a "test" toon for this purpose and if I discover that I can't get all old class specific companions + some new (not 1-2 old that BW chose for me plus some new that everyone else gets regardless of class and faction), I'll leave my main toons in "pre 4.0" state by not launching the expansion and leave the game as well. I'd like to get Theron or Marr but if it means that, let's say, my juggernaugt toon will only get Vette and Jaessa or only Jaessa and (killable) Quinn and then the new standard, shared by all classes, list (Lana, Theron, Marr...), f*ck it. It was mean enough how BW teased us with Kaidan / Ashley at the very beginning of ME2 and then again for a couple of minutes at some point and that was it. And those were fan faves. Really don't want that sh*t again.
  14. Oh, absolutely! And good riddance to them, may they take their vanity and elitism to whatever other mmo they go to or return to.
