Torturing, Lightening, Light Saber Throwing... the usual stuff.
  1. How have none of you said Gault yet? I'm leveling my Merc. as a healer and using him over Mako and he's just hysterical at times.
  2. I'm a college student... I can't game 23/7 I know, so sad.
  3. True, you do have a good point; they did hint at getting speeders early so I can see that being a potential Bind on Account item to go with that. Again, just to verify, I'm not butthurt about missing stuff and what not; I've been very happy playing SWTOR. My fear is that for people like me who have alts that are generally over the "reroll" line, if they come out with stuff you can't ever do or ever get, that's just wrong. Example: Say if you have a high enough Legacy you can unlock Republic Races for Empire. But you have characters that are all over the reroll limit. The fact you can't play those new races (which you get after hitting, say, Level 15 in Legacy) or experience the new story that would be associated with them (I have a had time imagining a Mirialan on the Empire's Side and I would love to see how that plays out (or Rattataki on Republic)). I know the story wouldn't be "OMG SO DIFFRENT, IT'S A NEW STORY" but still, they would be treated differently and given a new feel.
  4. If by "experiance" you mean leveling, perhaps. The Bind on Legacy items sound like leveling gear to me but I could be wrong (the only example would be getting speeders early (probably on DK)). But if you mean the story, then I would have to disagree. If there are options that become available due to Legacy system for the story, and I couldn't do them because I already passed them, that's quite a major issue (of course since you have to finish act 1, chances are you wouldn't for all classes, but the point is still valid I believe). While I do agree there are things in-game that are faulty, saying "it's in the future/don't complain yet" isn't a good enough reason to try and point out faulty design. That's like not complaining about one class being fixed while the other 7 are still buggy and broken as hell; you want them all fixed at the same time. By all means I do enjoy the game as it is. I can't put it down. As far as thinking "I'll enjoy SWTOR more because of legacy", I think that's something everyone feels. It's a new feature coming out that we should be excited for and hope that it gives us more features that we can play with. That however doesn't make it a good reason (or a reason at all) to not want to explore the other storylines. Also, eight characters is not 16 gazillion toons.
  5. Legacy; I'm just one of those people who gets bored playing the same class straight to fifty
  6. See, this is what I see as a flaw with the system; legacy is meant to support people who want to make alts, not deter them because it's unfinished and would give rewards you can only get by rolling a new toon. Plus, if you haven't played the Agent or Sith Warriors storyline, you've been missing out on some great stuff and for a game that has a very heavy focus on the story, that again is an issue.
  7. *sigh* Shameful bump back to page 1 sorry God, I made you mad
  8. Let me make something abundantly clear first; this is my roster of characters on my home server of Port Nowhere: 43 Powertech - Jaedo - Cyborg, Female, Light 41 (almost 42) Sorceress - Aliad - Rattataki, Female, Dark 33 Operative - Drass - Zabrak, Female, Light 32 Juggernaut - Thraxsis - Sith, Female, Dark 21 Marauder - Nefalus - Human, Male, Light 17 Mercenary Draagun'yool - Rattataki, Male, Dark 13 Sniper - Orey'ulon - Chiss, Male, Dark 12 Assassin - Zevrex - Sith, Male, Light (omgwtflightsithwut) Legacy Level 12 So let's talk about "Legacy" for a second. My Legacy name is "Orilus" (Ooh-rye-luss) and I was very happy when my Sorcerer finished Act 1 (no spoilers, don't worry). So when I got to pick a Legacy name, I didn't really know much about it other then it was like a last name. So after getting to Taris and rushing to get my companion, I had an "Oh crap" moment where I was severely under leveled and wanted to run from the issue, so I rolled my Powertech Bounty Hunter. Got to Belsavis, near the end of the art, and *pop* Operative. Then my Juggernaut and Marauder (which I at first leveled equally up to LV20) then just focused on my Juggernaut. Then eventually my Mercenary, Sniper and Assassin trickled in. Each new play-style hooked me on the class and made me want to play them instead. Now, I have no idea if i'm a-typical or what-not with making all the alts, but I have a problem with some of the things I've read about the Legacy System. Namely the following segment from a G4TV article about the Legacy System with questions answered by our good ol' friend and SWTOR game director, James Ohlen: (Note: The following text is only one paragraph of the full article) Legacy was intended to expand the aspects of the game MMO players thrive on. It's meant to add an extra level of gameplay to leveling up, perusing your class story and rolling another character. If you're a player who wants to focus on only one character, you won't reap the same rewards a player with multiple characters will get. In fact, Legacy System was designed for the players who have more than one character. Each of SWTOR's classes has a unique story and if you're a MMO fan, a Star Wars fan or a BioWare fan, chances are you'll want to explore more than one of these stories. So, I'll skip the pleasantries of "Well shouldn't it be obvious I should like this?" because quite frankly I don't. What i'm doing with all of my characters is rolling them either Dark/Light, and Male/Female for each base class (example: My Operative is a Light, Female Zabrak, where as my Chiss is Male and Dark). The problem there in lies that if the Legacy System is meant for people who have multi-toons, will they have missed out on content that might have otherwise already missed out on? Another thing is this part of the article: (Note: The following text is only one paragraph of the full article, example is given by James Ohlen) Legacy experience points span multiple characters. They accumulate to help you earn Legacy levels which in turn unlock abilities, perks and "bind on Legacy" items. Legacy perks can range from attacks to the ability to customize your next toon's experience. Again this goes back to the concept of "I've already passed this, so I can't do it anymore!". Some might say that I can just go to another server and make a new toon; well until Legacy spans servers, I'm not going to dedicate that time into something I won't ever use again. Another interesting note are the "bind on Legacy" items. On my Powertech, and on my Juggernaut, I have Armormech and Synthweave. I make all my armor for my lower class characters and whenever I run into a blue I save it for my other classes. The problem I have with BoL are that I won't get as much bang for my buck anymore. Example: I have just finished Act 1 with my Sorcerer, if I could pick any one Bind on Legacy item, what would I pick? Weapon? No. Armor? Yes. Light Armor? No. I would be picking either Medium or Heavy armor, as I can give that to at least two characters. But as someone who has so many characters so far along (and since you gain rested EXP the longer your out), I don't feel the need to get Bind on Legacy items, even if they give an exp bonus. The final complaint I have is something that is more then visible in the Star Wars Trailer for the next expansion. At 01:12, they show one of those Force Blind characters Republic players get as a Sith Warrior (or at the very least in Sith Warrior armor using a Red Lightsaber). While I am aware of the "Content not Final" watermark in the corner, the fact that if this is part of the Legacy System, and it's something I won't be able to use because I like to have alts, does tick me off. Let me end on this note; I don't "hate" the Legacy System. I'm quite looking forward into see how EA and Bioware incorporate it and to see what they actually do from a Design point (I'm a Game Design Student). I do, however, "fear" it, because if a system that is meant for people who play multipal characters has features that I, as someone with 8 characters in total can't access... well, I think there's a design flaw there. I don't want the answer to be "Oh, you have to reroll. But it's okay, it's only Level 12" Yeah? Well that level twelve is fitted with all LV11 blues that you can get with Dromund Kaas commendations. Side Note: Womp Rat Stomp from Nem'ro's Palace is a great song. 9. Bleeding effects are your DoTs
  10. For updates that have lore in them to the codex loading screen, how do you read them? Do you imagine them in like a voice? Whenever I do, I always imagine hearing it in Tom Kane's voice (the Narrator from Clone Wars series, as well as Yoda's Voice Actor!).
  11. Temporarily on the back burner atm; Game Design class just handed out a project so that's taking my focus atm.
  12. Who the hell are you and how did you escape from my Mind?
  13. Tear Gas and Pepper Spray I was planning to leave for Riot Guard specifically (would a Techy really use that kind of stuff?). And Maneuver works pretty much like how Ammo works for Troopers. Yes, FA is similar to charge, but so is the one that Powertech Tanks have (if you spec it). The animation would be him running up weaving and bobbing so it's not just a jump-at-target thing. As for Shots being Tech-only... I can see that. I would have to work some thing around but I can see it as a Class-Only mechanic. As for Thrust, i'll tinker around with ideas of what I can do with this one. Edit: Updated Abilities 1-10, happy with the changes.
  14. Okay, so I have the basis for the first 10 Levels of Base Abilities; Starting: Armor Proficiency: Medium Diligence: Restored Health over 15 seconds Jab: Inflicts weak kinetic damage with a series of jabs. Lunge: Inflicts low kinetic damage with a quick lunge. Costs 2 Maneuvers. Power of the People: Grants 5% Defense against Melee and Ranged attacks as well as Force and Tech abilities. Weapon Proficiency: Vibrostaff Stratagem: Recharges 6 Maneuvers over 3 seconds Trainable Abilities: Lv2 Shocking Thrust: Inflicts moderate kinetic damage after stabbing the target with your weapon and then firing a discharge causing low internal bleeding over 5 seconds. Costs 3 Maneuvers. 12 Second CD. Lv3 Scanner Probe: You send out a probe to scan the target for a weakness, lowering it's defenses by 5% for 15 seconds. Costs 2 Maneuver. 25-35 Second CD. Does not cause Aggro. Lv4 Forward Assault: Weaves and bobs toward a target enemy, smashing into them and dealing low kinetic damage and knocking weak/standard enemies back a bit. Lv5 Whirling Sweep: Inflicts low kinetic damage to all enemies around you with a sweeping spin of your weapon Lv6 Pepper Spary Grenade: You throw a grenade at target enemy that lowers the accuracy of afflicted enemies by 50% for 10 seconds. 1 Minute CD. Lv8 Taser Probe: Summons a small drone to shock target enemy for low damage over 3 seconds. Only usable against incapacitated targets and targets suffering from periodic damage. Costs 1 Manuevers. 14 Second CD. Lv9 Reversal: Reverse the situation and frees you from all incapacitation and movement-impairing effects. Thoughts? Comments? What I did with this is try to keep a elements of both AC in the base (like you would find for all classes) that both can utilize. Hopefully the choices that are available would be ideal abilities for both advance classes to utilize.
