  1. I sure hope he means the turrets and not the tauntauns.
  2. So I have a plane ticket that only lets me get on the plane for free once in a day. I can't believe the airline company won't let me ride the plane for free more often. To top it all off they have a program that lets me have access to cheap plane tickets but only if I register with them. It isn't fair that they make me have to register to use their special service. /sarcasm To me the fleet pass is not a deal breaker. This could be because I came from FFXI, an MMO that took forever to travel around. Just to get to the equivalent of the fleet, you could wait a potential 30 minutes for a "shuttle" (airship) that you would have to ride to get to your destination. This was after traveling to the port from wherever you were in the first place. Oh and originally, there were no mounts. The closest thing was a vendor that you could rent a mount, but again, you had to be at a port to do that. It does not take that long to get through the loading screens if your fleet pass is off cool down. I don't expect bioware to hand us everything on a silver platter. Do you think Luke could have used his emergency fleet pass when dangling from the Bespin mining facility and get an instant shuttle back to the Rebel fleet?
  3. Soa dropped a red lightsaber for me as well. Only the tool tip did not have any light/dark side restrictions, so as a light-sided jedi, I was able to use it. If you remove the red crystal however, it does have dark side restrictions. I think this was done so that if it drops for a light sided jedi in an operation, the item is not useless. This way, they could have a single loot pool regardless of whether you were light side or dark side.
  4. I posted this on another thread with a simillar topic. Our guild took down Soa again last night and he is definitely more buggy than he was prior to the recent patch. A couple of the main issues we ran into involved a number of the previously mentioned bugs. Threat Control - In the final phase against Soa, he definitely would randomly drop aggro. This made it difficult to line him up with the pylons for the debuff. We were able to counter this with a second tank. (Even the main tank could re-aggro him with 1 taunt and he seemed to respond ok to that). Not game breaking, but still frustrating. Mind trap - Soa will still mind trap the tank. We have a backup tank for that, but when he uses mind trap back to back and puts both tanks in, then it's pretty unfortunate. This happened once and he even ended up despawning when both tanks were out of commission. Cyclone - Normally we are very careful to make sure no one is in a mind trap or flying around a room when Soa hits the 30% marker (even with the mentioned fixes in the patch). We had one instance last night where after hitting 30%, he hit our backup tank with cyclone. This caused us to lose him for the duration of the fight because, when he lands, the floor is gone and he is killed instantly and out of reach for any in combat raises. The fight against Soa is still doable, but is much more frustrating than it needs to be with the bugs. Now there is a factor of luck where you pray you don't get hit with too many of the above bugs. On a side note, we noticed a major change to the steps falling between phases. It looks like the timer was increased. We panicked when we would reach a platform with nowhere to go, but after waiting for a while (longer than it used to be), the platform would finally fall into place. I actually liked this change for the increased window for AoE heals.
  5. Our guild took down Soa again last night. He is definitely more buggy than he was prior to the recent patch. The mind trap issue is definitely a concern. We brought 2 tanks, and there was one instance where he tossed both tanks into a mind trap back to back (seems he uses mind trap more frequently now). He seems to still have the drop aggro bug that when the tanks are mind trapped, Soa despawns and you have to start the fight over. Another issue (different attempt) was before moving to the next phase (as he's breaking the ground) he pulled one of our tanks and threw him around the room just as he was destroying the floor. This caused him to bug out and die, leaving us down 1 person. I would say that with all of the bugs Soa is definitely still doable, just more frustrating than it needs to be.
  6. I personally think Tionese gear is garbage. When you hit 50, do your dailies on Ilum and Belsavis. You can pick up both quest chains at the fleet. This will get you your lvl 50-51 armoring, hilts, mods, and enhancements. When you get far enough in the questing, you can pretty much get 1 mod, 1 enhancement per day. Each daily quest yields a daily commendation (heroics give 3). 8 of these can be used to purchase armoring mods. (There is a heroic +4 on belsavis that gives you armoring mods also). Ultimately I find these mods to be better than Tionese gear by far and are much easier to farm. I do however recommend doing your PVP dailies as well. They are a good substitute imho until you get columi gear. The rakata implants cost a lot of commendations, so the PvP Champion implants may be a good substitute for a while. Eventually for PvE, you'll want to use full columi/rakata and replace any PvP gear you are using. Edit: I forgot to mention the armoring, hilts, mods, and enhancements mentioned above are the advanced purple quality ones.
  7. I'd say the best way to gear up is to start with Belsavis and Ilum dailies. After you go through the initial questing, you unlock +2 heroics in both. Every day you can get a purple mod from Belsavis and purple enhancement from Ilum. Heroics yield 3 daily commendations and the quests typically yield 1. For 8 commendations you can get a purple armoring piece or hilt. For me, this was the fastest way to gear up plus you get tons of credits. On my server you can find these same mods for around 30-50k depending on the mod. Edit: The mods for 30-50k is the current price on the AH.
  8. My friend, Soa would like to have a word with you. Just don't ask him about his spanking last night. I think he is still bitter he couldn't beat up on a man in a dress. Shadow tanks have a lot of utilities to mitigate damage, but I think where a shadow truly shines is holding threat. The only times I would lose threat on him was when he put me in a little box (mind trap). One Mind Control fixed that when I was busted out. Just my opinion, but I think shadow tanks have an advantage on Soa over other tanks. This is because resilience gives you pretty much 100% damage mitigation on him for 5 seconds every 45 seconds.
  9. Try crafting them anyways. I've heard there is sometimes a bug that shows amount craftable as 0, but in reality you can still craft them as you have the materials. I've seen this bug a few times at lower levels.
  10. Or you could think about it like basketball. If you score points, you get the credit. If you get the assist (i.e. person who passed the ball to allow for the score to happen), you get credit for that. Now the below differs some from my analogy (especially the assist portion) but I think the ideas are still valid. Assist medal - everyone on the team that touched the ball before it scored (resets if ball becomes neutral ball or if opposing team obtains it). This would promote passing and should happen every time your team scores and you were involved in the passing. Score Medal - Medal awarded to the player that crosses the line with the ball. (They do not get the assist medal). Interception Medal - awarded to the player that kills the ball handler and gets the ball. Passing Medal - x amount of complete passes. (e.g. 5 successful passes grants you a medal) Just a few ideas that I think would promote teamwork in huttball.
  11. Yeah, I had the same issue. I support the OP's comment that pressing escape will take you out of the frozen cutscene. If it freezes, it always seems to work on the second try.
  12. Just a side note...while the lower level reusable medpacks/stims/adrenals are biochem only, the end game Rakata reusable medpacks/stims/adrenals are only BoP.
  13. I couldn't resist but create a mental image of a jedi doing spinning strike with a one handed lightsaber. It looked kind of like a cowboy spinning a lasso over his head. Personally I love the DBL and I think BW did a good job on the animations. Double-strike does get a little dull, but in later levels (especially infiltration spec), you get a nice arsenal of abilities that give your animations more dynamics. (i.e. spinning strike, low strike, clairvoyant strike).
  14. FYI, you technically get a battle rez at lvl 22 (much earlier than anyone else)...as long as you are in a group of 3 or 4. Just use force cloak then go and rez your teammate. If you're the only one left then it just gets you out of the battle for a reset.
  15. http://gizmodo.com/5866354/scientists-about-to-find-the-force Not quite 100% like the movies, but the concept is similar. Now how to control it?
