  1. Oooh good, a thead about name changes! It's about time somebody started one!
  2. Magenta is really more purple than pink (it's more of a reddish purple). The purple crystals mentioned in previous posts may be more bluish, but if so I've never seen them side by side to tell the difference. As for making the crystals (at least the magenta ones) - you do need to be an Artificer. My toon is one, and I just bought the Level 31 schematic off the GTN (other schematics show up there too). Not sure where else to get them, check out torhead here.
  3. I've submitted several bug reports, but I'm just curious as to whether this is happening to anybody else. I have an account (obviously), but when I log in, maybe 10-20% of the time I've lost my account status and am a F2P. My toolbars are gone, my crew skills are gone, etc. Usually, logging out and logging back in fixes it, but then all my tool bars are empty. I have to go in my skills list and refill them, which would be easier if I could remember exactly how I had them. This is getting very annoying. Is anyone else seeing this?
  4. Thank you. I had seen that before, but I had misread it. I might as well fill up all my character slots now then. Create a bunch of toons, send them all 350,000 credits. It looks like I can buy a lot of the unlocks now on the GTN. I'll bet that's because so many people have suddenly banked Cartel Coins, and don't see much use for them, & would rather have the Credits. I wonder if prices will skyrocket or the market will dry up as the supply of Cartel Coins goes down.
  5. So I'm going to let my subscription expire and transition to F2P. After doing the math & looking at how I play, F2P just makes more sense (as I thought it would - honestly, I've only kept my account going for the last few months because I knew the F2P transition was coming up). Some unlocks - Legacy unlocks, unlocks purchased with in-game credits, etc. - stay unlocked for existing toons when I go down to Freemium, but would be locked to new characters after that. So, I'm thinking that if I want to make any new toons, I should make them now, before my sub ends. What restrictions will be locked that I can use now? For example; 1) I should make a new in a locked race (I've unlocked Twi'leks, so I should make a level 1 Twi'lek sith Warrior now while I can), 2) Send him a bunch of cash now (I won't be able to send cash to him later). 3) Unlock all his available cargo and inventory slots (I have way more Credits now than I'll be able to use under the F2P). 4) I have one toon with Cybertech that I'm keeping. I'm going to lose my Artificer, so I'm going to make all the hilts, Enhancements, etc. while I can & store them with one of the other toons. Am I missing anything? Related question: 1) Is the 350,000 credit limit per toon or per account?
  6. I've seen the following so far: 1) When near the edge of a cliff, if I get stuck and try "/unstuck", I am immediately killed. I unstucked from the exact same positions many times yesterday, and didn't get that. It has happened 3 times today. 2) Even though I have a sub, upon login my toons have occasionally shown up as F2P. Logging out & logging back in has fixed it so far. Has anyone else seen any other bugs yet?
  7. Based on what I've seen frequently in chat and occasionally here on the forums, many people seem to think that the game will be overwhelmed with noobs and trolls tomorrow morning. I think that's overstating it by a lot. First of all, anyone who just wants to try out a free version of the game can already do so - you've been able to play to 15 for quite some time now. Hundreds of thousands of people were subscribers before, but have left over the last few months. Many people seem to think that the hordes left because they were unhappy with endgame content. Being F2P doesn't change that, so I don't see any reason why hordes will show up just because the game they didn't like before is now free. Sure, lots of people may come back tomorrow, or for the weekend, just to poke around. This happens every time there's a big patch. The ONLY reason I can see for long-term population increases is if BW's stated premise - that lots of people really enjoyed the game and want to come back, but they just didn't want to play as subscribers - is actually true.
  8. Funnily enough, I had the exact OPPOSITE feeling that the OP had. I feel that most of the planets are very static, with mobs just standing around, but Corellia actually made me feel like I was in a real warzone. It's no Tatooine (which for me was head and shoulders above all other planets in the game), but I'd rate it in my top 5 for sure.
  9. It's also the birthday of pro wrestler Randy "Macho Man" Savage. So, on the 15th, I'm gonna get me some Cartel Coins, buy a Sith Throne, and step into a Slim Jim. Oooh yeah!
  10. Also, if you stay subbed through the F2P launch date (November 15), you'll receive credits in Cartel Coins for all the months you've subbed so far. If you let your sub lapse before then, you'll lose all of them.
  11. #1 bug - companions who put their lightsabers away while they're still on. #1 fix - hiding companion headgear! However, it would be really nice if it stayed off in cutscenes too.
  12. Oooh, good point. On the other hand, maybe the Dev in question only read your post to figure out what an assassine is, and just skimmed the rest of the posts looking for assassine comments, like I did. I have no idea what the rest of the thread is about. And, does anyone think the devs really read the forums? I wouldn't be surprised if the Community Managers read some of them, and perhaps point the actual devs toward some of the posts, but I would assume (and hope) that the actual devs were too busy... devving... to spend their valuable time on here.
  13. The "State of the Game" article today was helpful, in that I'm glad to see the devs address the community in any way they can, just to show that they're listening. However, I just can't agree with this quote: "As a side note, we finally got a lock on the last of the major issues from Game Update 1.4 and appreciate your patience with that one." I guess I'm not sure what "finally got a lock" means. I took it to mean that "those issues are now fixed". If so, I have to heartily disagree. I play on a computer that's probably marginally acceptable for SWTOR. I know that many people with high-end rigs are playing just fine now with no problems. I played fine for MONTHS with no issues, until 1.4 hit. From that day on, I've been getting MULTIPLE crashes per day, every day since 1.4 hit. I'm on another computer right now because my desktop JUST CRASHED AGAIN while playing SWTOR. As I said, I know it's not everyone. However, LOTS of people have had problems since 1.4, as the dev mentioned. I just want to point out that those issues are NOT LOCKED. NOTHING IS LOCKED. Devs, please do NOT consider 1.4 to be fixed, because it's not. So, please continue to work on the bugs that were introduced during 1.4. My second question - I know that MMOs are very complicated (as he mentioned), and that they continually have dozens of professionals working on the game. However, some bugs appear to have been there since launch, with no change. For example, the issue with companions' sabers staying illuminated even after they're holstered, or leaving traces in the air after they'er gone (my favorite example of this just happened on the Jawa balloon, where I dismissed Kira but she left a saber trace. In midair. The balloon slowly floated away, and I watched the trace disappear into the distance). I'd like to see an update on these sorts of issues - an acknowledgement that they exist, but that they can't seem to figure out a fix, or that they have a fix but are afraid that the fix would break even more stuff, it's that they know it's there but it's just not that important to them. I just find it hard to believe them when they basically say "please understand that MMOs are complicated, but we'll fix bugs eventually" if some bugs have been sitting there since launch.
  14. IDK, being able to turn on a lightsaber and wave it around pretty much sounds like the definition of fighting with it. Now sure, to fight WELL, you'd need training. But if you can turn it on and wave it around and physically make it go where you want it to go, then why do you need the Force to control it?
  15. On the other hand, Luke picked one up and used it right away with no training. And Han managed to disembowel a tauntaun without any Force sensitivity.
