  1. Scrolling through this first page of posts is depressing me, and I wondered if anyone else felt the same. I've noticed the game has its quirks and bugs, some things that could use improvement, and some areas where I ask myself why the devs went that direction. On the whole, however, I still really enjoy my TOR experience. This game is really fun and awesome. Could it be more fun and awesome? Of course. Pumpkin pie will always taste better with whipped cream, but pumpkin pie is still hella delicious.
  2. I second all of the above-mentioned suggestions. They would all be wonderful additions to the game, especially a Freelancer-style dogfighting system.
  3. I would appreciate chat bubbles, but there should also be a feature to disable them.
  4. This all kind of reminds me of Russia's forced relocation and consolidation of the peasant population to the kolkhozi during collectivization. Millions died. MILLIONS MORE WILL DIE! No, just kidding actually. Still, from the reactions, it seems they will.
  5. Haha I was hoping moreso for 'average' strength and height rather than the stark contrast between the two.
  6. I have a bit of a complaint with the four choices for body types when making a new character. It seems you must either be short and skinny, tall and extremely muscular, or tall and very fat. So basically our options are a teenager, a hipster, Mr. Universe, and sumo wrestler. There seems to be no in-between size for options 2 and 3 on the slider. Perhaps I'd like a character who is tall, but also slightly built and not simply very thin? I always felt like the "normal" size for humans is a bit lanky whereas the size above it seems much like a meat head with a thick neck. I think there should be a fifth option that goes between these two sizes so the contrast is not so fast. I feel like I tower over all my Jedi masters and peers at the temple, and it creates for a sort of awkward experience. "Why are you so tall, padawan?" "I was force-fed nothing but steroids since I was 10 years old." Just a thought. I picked body size 3 because I thought it would make my tank easier to pick out when rolling about as a Jedi Guardian. Just thinking of you guys, you know.
  7. You guys are just making me eager to get home and play!
  8. I have to ask then, Jett, why choose to RP on a PvE server versus a PvP server? I might make the switch if you are convincing enough.
  9. Then we shall remain hopeful together. In the meantime, I am looking for some good RP guilds on Jung Ma. Any suggestions?
  10. I think one of my worst fears is that this game will go the route of so many WoW competitors, and just be scrapped after a certain low has been reached. It'd break my heart.
  11. It's heartening to know that there is enough content to go-round. I was afraid that I'd breeze through the classes and stories lickiddy-split and be forced to make another class in order to continue enjoying some good storytelling. Already the game is miles ahead of other MMO's simply because the characters giving me quests feel like legit stories instead of being forced to imagine the sorrow of the widow who's husband's remains I must discover. Immersion, yes!
  12. Well, then, I will say for the price of admission this game has been very worth it. In a lot of ways it is similar to WoW, but at the same time that makes it accessible to people like me who are familiar with WoW's control scheme and shortcuts, but weren't all that enamored with the Warcraft universe. I do still find myself selecting the incorrect shortcuts at times, however. To-date it is fun, and I like this game. Perhaps it's not the mind-blowing experience people were expecting, but I think Bioware pulled a Peter Molyneux in how much they hyped up the game experience. The developer has an excellent track record of making quality RPG's, but an MMO requires a degree of expertise I don't think they understood. EA, I think, contributes to this detriment by requiring the studio to continue to pump out AAA+ titles for the offline market, while still continuing with TOR's development. The leeches that are EA certainly do not contribute to the success of TOR, but at the same time it is also up to BioWare to take some initiative in how they spend their time. Overall, nice place you got here.
  13. Not me, of course. Just around me, it feels. I was watching this game pre-launch a while back under the forum username Kanith, but I noticed a lot of stuff got changed including what seems to be a dump of forum users. Interesting. Anyway, I took a stroll on the 15-level trial and enjoyed myself so much I bought the game for the standard $15 and have been strutting my stuff around the Jung Ma PvP-RP server. While activity hasn't been exploding (coming from a guy who played WoW for some five years before quitting in 2009) I have enjoyed the small bit of interaction between characters on the server. There is one thing I've noticed, though: Everyone seems so pessimistic. Perhaps I missed out on the real fun-time bash that was early Old Republic, but on the whole I am indeed having fun playing the game. There is enough life to not feel like the worlds are completely empty, but also not overcrowded so I don't feel "small". I'm just curious where all the dire vibes are coming from. Personally I'd like to cruise through the story, sidequests, and join a nice RP guild and settle down. What's with all the naysayers?
