  1. Here is some more targeting advice I stole from the pvp forum The good (or sith evil) players on this thread made nice suggestions which I think could be summed up to these recommendations. 1. Target enemy center screen - Cycles through enemies in 45 degree cone centered by your screen (not by where the toon is looking) and according to distance. 2. Target friendly center screen - Cycles through friendly in 45 degree cone centered by your screen (not by where the toon is looking) and according to distance. Please make more comments and suggestions, also about this update.
  2. Or at least reduce the animation times for crouch and sonic blast. They are both way too long!
  3. I've been leaped on at least three times while in cover. Twice in HuttBall, and once in Voidstar. All three times I was up on a perch. I know I was in cover, because my reaction was "hunker down" and it worked. Is there a bug or do some abilities make us vulnerable? My main is a guardian and I've never been able to jump a troop in cover. Anyone else see this before?
  4. I use tab for targeting nearest. I use Shift mouse wheel to target next and previous. I also bind Shift + W,S,A,D keys for my abilities that require cover. While in cover, I generally hold down the shift key all time. This also helps keep me from accidentally walking out of cover.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I hope more people follow in your footsteps. I think part of the problem is that I'm to close to the problem. Its hard to objectively critique your own performance while trying to perform. I'm thinking about recording some of my fights so that I can critique myself after the fact. Does anyone know what software is being used to record all of those YouTube gameplay videos? Anyone else out there with my spec that can offer feedback on ability priority or rotations?
  6. This isn’t a QQ thread and if the best advice you have is “l2p” please shut up and move on. I love my gunslinger and am looking to up my game by tapping into your shared wisdom. I’m looking for actual tip, tricks, and constructive feedback. So it seems I have my very own nemesis. There is a juggernaut that appears to go out of his way to hunt me. Over and over again, i’ve seen him disengage from a half dead target and pass several targets to come after me. I don’t know if he looks for my name or the shiny blue barrier, but he’s responsible for 4/5 of my deaths. He’s always above me on the damage charts, so maybe he’s noticed me up there and is just trying to mitigate me. I feel I’m a pretty good player and easily come in first or second damage for my team while highly focused on objectives over damage alone. I typically don’t have too much trouble with melee in particular. Sure they kill me first half the time, but they walk away very weak for their trouble. Except this one Jugg. I’m lvl 30 now and have been tangling with him since level 10. Probably his best advantage is that he’s ten levels higher. He’s good. He does everything right... taunts then interrupts everything, roots, pushes, leaps, and chokes almost as if he didn’t have cool downs at all. I’m telling you, his main must be a slinger, cuz he knows just how to whoop me. I was mostly SS spec and never got more than a quarter of his life burned before dying. I’ve since switched to DF http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700ZZGbbkrMdz.1 with an SS/DF hybrid in mind and find that I’m much more of a problem for him. Now he's usually half dead or more when I die. My high crits have dropped and my single point damage feels a bit lower, but my dps and overall damage is up some. The longer dot is great for keeping people from capping too, so I don’t feel like I’m letting my team down with the switch. So here are my questions: • Is there a better lvl 30 spec that won’t hurt the team objectives? • How do you beat tanks? Not the dime store ones, but the good ones. • What rotations are least susceptible to interrupts and still get the job done? • How do you maintain distance without maxing their resolve half way through the fight? Thank in advance for your feedback. P.S. My main is a Guardian, so I like to think I know at least a little about tanks.
  7. Georg, I'm begging you.. as soon as you fix the disconnect issues... ADD MORE ARMOR OPTIONS!. especially to the light side.. I've turned sith to the light side before, can we please get some of the fashion designers turned back!!! I thought it was cute when Kira (my companion) said something along the lines of all the fashion designers gone to the dark side.. until i find myself wearing the same armor for the next 25 levels.. It's not so funny to see that she wasn't joking!
  8. Are you nuts? Force Leap is one of the only things going for us. I suppose you wan't my lightsaber too.. not that it actually does any damage. How about we talk about all that crazy internal, elemental, etc damage we can't do anything about!? I'd probably be willing to let force leap go if I could roll an actual tank. I feel like i'm wearing pajamas most of the time. Keep checking to make sure i'm wearing my pants. Or.. howabout we trade the lightsaber for the crazy unblockable elemental damage of a vibroknife!
  9. Nailed it here. I agree.. 2/10. Faction Balance - It's so bad, about a quarter of the rebs in there don't even engage.. they end with no dmg, no healing, no mitigation, no objectives. We all get a leveling buff.. it should take gear scores and more importantly team size into account. Class balance - Really poor.. Full defense spec guardian with defense PVP gear and get smoked by elemental, internal, etc.. like i was naked! Each class should carry an "Ace", but too many classes have way too many "Aces". Too much CC - Waaay too much CC.. and cc is way too effective!. While being choked or such, even mild focus fire will destroy you way too fast. Forced minigame grind -Guessing you are talking about the bag lotto. Only lvl 44, so not there yet.. and not really looking forward to it. No WZ premade only queue - I like the small tight encounters, but it gets old way too fast. I would like a larger warzone. Too much emphasis on gear - This wouldn't be a show-stopping problem except that some of us, like Guardians, don't get nearly the bang for our buck out of out of our gear. it increases defenses that don't do us any good against most PVP attacks. This means that those DPS that gear stack are even MORE effective against us. I can't gear stack in return. World PVP is next to non-existent, and clearly overlooked in favor of the forced minigame grind model - agreed. RNG, RNG, RNG - Eh.. Ilum. ROFL. I mean... really - Yea, it would be funny if it didn't just further imbalance the factions.
  10. I have issues with this too. As I was approaching lvl 40, I noted that it’s a pretty good shelf for getting PVP gear. I haven’t had enough time to go on flashpoints lately and figured it’d be a good way to upgrade my equipment. So, I started to PVP to save up for when I hit lvl 40. I noted that even though I was guardian spec, I burned down just as fast as anyone else. I’m NOT talking about those times when you are focus fired by 4+, nobody should have any expectations to survive that, but one or two on one. So, lvl 40 came and I upgrade just about every slot… donned my sparkly new pvp equipment and queued up for PVP. Then was incredibly let down to see that my survivability didn’t change one ounce that I could tell. Before you call BS, note that I’m cybertech, so my armor and mod slots were pretty much up to date. The big bump was in my defense and shield stats. I came to the forums to see if I could figure out what I was doing wrong. This article appears to have nailed it on the head. This also explains why I slowly grind along in PVE with Doc with little trouble… until BLAM! I die.. faster than hell… Uh.. what happened? Did Doc get tired of sharing the love?! I respawn and try the fight again.. this time I survive, but only because I dump my specials and med pack up. It’s usually a tech guy that hits me with fire or those stinking shocking balls that follow you around. If not tech, it’s a lightning force user. All that defense and shild stat gear did help with PVE, except for the same old tech or force guys. It’s insane now easy one gold star can be.. and how almost impossible the next silver can be, just because of their attack type. This really does need some attention. I’m not saying elemental or tech should be treated the same as standard weapon damage, but those powers shouldn’t be “I Win” buttons either.
  11. When key binding, don't forget your extra mouse buttons! I love the back and forward navigation mouse buttons, also mapped them with shift and ctrl. The middle mouse button can be nice too, depending on your model of mouse.
