  1. Just finished downloading all the updates, I started about 9am this morning, it's now 10:55pm that's nearly 14 hours:eek:
  2. Hi all, I just had to say that I got swor when it first started up and thought I'd try the game again after 12 months rest byte. I loaded the game up this morning to find an 11 gig download and that's just finished, and now another 3 gig download. I think that's not even the last of the updates, it seems to take 24 hours just to load the game, so I'm not surprised that this alone would put people off playing swor. Anyway, it will probably be tomorrow before I get a game lol. My connection speed by the way is 500kbs only not the best for downloading big games like this.
  3. I have to agree with the op, theres no real depth to swtor, it has some good points, but not enough to keep me interested. In all honnesty! I would have preffered swg being shut down and remade with some of swtor aspects and just revamping all graphics and abilities and the whole look of the game and having a big bank release in 5 or 6 years time:rolleyes: Infact all mmo's should use the cryengine 3 for mmo's these days, one of the best engines on the market in my opinion.
  4. Why does swtor feel like a one way path that cannot be deviated from, other than the path you have set?
  5. Not at all, I just can't seem to find any mmo that keeps me gripped to my seat these days. Something is missing these days from mmo's and that's the community in general, if any mmo does'nt give the feel of belonging to that game, then it's not for me. I like a good friendly community that talks ingame and has things to pull them together ingame, be that crafting or questing or just chatting about how to go about questing. But that's just me. All I can say is that my two favorite syfy programs starwars and startrek, have disapointed me in the game world. I would have preffered open worlds in both and the freedom to move about, even getting lost in space would be fun, but neither games have given that feel of being huge and I feel like I've been given a one way route to follow, but as I said it's not for me at this time;)
  6. This isn't a Troll post, I'm just saying I've lost interest in mmo's right now. Last night after reading the forums it kinda made my mind up about swtor. It's got good parts like the voice acting which does drag you into the story and although I love starwars in general. But I can't seem to get fully into the one way path thing and feel I don't have the freedom to move around doing my own little thing in the universe. I know for some thats a good thing and thats fine, it's just not for me...I'm more of an open world person who likes to roam and explore the outer reaches of the universe and be able to enjoy exploring and little tinkering with objects for crafting. Anyway I'll try again in 12 months and see how the game grows. Just wishing you all the best for the future and hope it all goes well.
  7. Tera and archeage both in development and both sandbox with all the icing and detail you want;) mmo's you have to work at your character and not have it handed to you;)
  8. Todays mmo's are not mmo's anymore, they were originally long lasting quests/hobbies/FUN and great to have to work out things instead of being given things on a plate. As a casual player who likes DETAIL i.e. crafting isn't meant to be easy, crafting is meant to be an art and people learn of other people who can work out the system and help others, hence you get community working with community. As with quests, the older mmo's you could struggle to find npc's to complete quests, now they have big orange hats on waving "hay we're here" Their is no challenge anymore to these mmo's like there use to be, now it's go to site B and kick Mob and return to site A and get reward. Sorry but the OP doesn't know what he's talking about. It use to be fun working out things in mmo's, now that element has gone. And crafting in swg was a dream and fun and got the community working together. They then listen to the arcade players and destroyed what was a good game. I'm a syfy nut and love anything to do with space and all that kind of stuff, I loved startrek and that mmo could have had alot of promise, but again they took the arcade route, so that went down the swonny. Now I'm hoping that swtor opens up a bit in the future, because right now all I'm seeing is that I'm being led down the garden path, rather than free roaming and making my own choices. Anyway, there's hope yet. As their are 2 mmo's in the making which have alot more detail and sandbox style play:D Tera and ArcheAge:p
  9. Just a little note when installing any drivers from nvidia, you can click on custome "advance install" and click on clean install, this will then remove all old drivers before installing the new ones, you can do this with all nvidia drivers now...No need for third party programs to do it for you;)
  10. I've seen worse over the years! I liked swg graphics and in some places swtor reminds me of that, but I do find that mmo game graphics can never be as good as single player games because of the nature of the games. But still alot of things could be added in the effects department to give the game a good feel in the enviroments. I have notice things like clothing, some are better than others in detail, some look like low end graphics even though I have everything on high. But that's not a major issue for me at the moment. I've noticed in places mild effects, but sounds if anything are a good place to start when it comes to effects and pulling a player in.. All these things combined can make planets like tat feel alive.
  11. Hi all, One of my likes about mmo's are the graphic detail that some mmo's have, I've always loved how graphics have improved over the last 30+ years. I find the finer details can make a game come to life and have noticed that in places swtor needs more finer graphic details to make places feel more livelier. Little things like music in bars and sound effects when passing traders. Speeder noises in the back ground and dust clouds on planets and rain. Things like this can bring an area to life and I think swtor could do with adding a bit more of this in future updates when other things have been sorted. Also with things like crafting, it would be good to be able to pass your curser over any item and get details on what they are without them being highlighted which would make things more interesting rather than them being pointed out to you. Things like speeders wearing out and looking like their starting to degrade until you get them fixed as with armour. For me these finer details can add to the game and enviroments. What do you think?
  12. Just arrived at tatt last night, level 24 and looking forward to getting my first speeder at 25, and I've played about an hour on tatt and it's not too bad. Mind you if you like the films, you know what to expect on these planets... I've not really seen anything like dust clouds as yet which would make it more detailed....One of the things I've noticed is the finer details that seem to be missing from places like tat, that amtospher. With little details like dust clouds and other enviroment effects it can bring things to life, a little lacking in some places which makes them feel static.
  13. Sorry but posts like this should be deleted, pointless and in no way constructive!
  14. Agreed on this 100% It's good that BW are communicating, but it should include everyone, and in this day and age, there is such thing as video conferencing. So alot more people could be involved then just guild leaders, you know the community as a whole, not just a part. And also make it live streaming so everyone can see whats being said and seen, involve the community please. Thats everyone!
