  1. The link to the patch notes in the OP appears to be broken. It has an extra "%22" character at the very beginning, and is missing the : after http. Edit: Sorry, I see now that others have already pointed this out.
  2. Also, I am not saying whether this is right or wrong on the part of the developers, I am just stating what seems like the state of things based on my observations. The dialogue over class balance is good, and it is things the developers need to hear, but it needs to be tempered by reasonable expectations. If the game continually fails to live up to your expectations, it may be worth looking into other options.
  3. In a nutshell...yes. Saying "it isn't built to actually have people play" is a very narrow view, though. Serious PvP and serious progression raiding represent a relatively small part of the content in the game...there are a lot of things that qualify as "playing" that do not involve those things. It can be hard for some people to grasp, but a lot of people (perhaps even a majority) do not have any ultimate goal that they are striving for when they play...they don't have any concept of "winning"...they just play. As long as there is something for them to do to pass the time, they are satisfied. I may be wrong, but from my experience, those people represent the majority of players, and those people seem to be the core target audience for this game.
  4. I tried really hard to care about the plight of the sorcerer DPS, but then I read this thread and completely lost my sympathy. I just don't see anything here that sounds any different from any similar thread from any MMO that I have played. When it comes down to it, this game is just not built for "serious" PvP or for "serious" raid progression. That's just not the target audience. There are MMO's out there that are built for those things, but this is not it. I see an effort on the part of the developers to try to satisfy some of that, but the players who care about "serious" PvP or "serious" raid progression are in the minority, and the development priorities do not seem to align with what that minority wants. Perhaps it is a problem of expectations. Perhaps some players would be better off playing a different game. I would love to see this game gain in popularity and I hate to see it lose players, but it's not the game for everyone.
  5. (font returned to sane size) Between the two pictures linked, there is clearly a difference in the brightness and/or contrast settings. You can see this easily by looking at the lights on the ceiling behind the character.
  6. That is a lot of typing. You keep calling it "theft", but whether you intended to or not, you gave him permission to take the items. It is not theft.
  7. I am fully in support of Bioware taking no action in circumstances like this. You learned an expensive lesson. Don't let it be for naught.
  8. No, it ended right at the time it always ends on the last day of the event.
  9. Some of the items are okay, but the the ones that cost 240 or 600 cartel coins to unlock a single item? That's just too expensive for me. The information leading up to this feature indicated that the cost would vary based on the rarity of the item, but that it would be a small fee. 600 is nowhere close to a small fee, in my opinion. I personally will not be unlocking any of these overpriced unlocks, and I encourage others to do the same. I can only hope that the prices will be reduced at some point in the future.
  10. And therein lies the problem...people think their ability to speak (or type) gives them a voice, but it doesn't. The only voice you really have is the one coming from your wallet.
  11. I was just being facetious. I will say, though, that I would rather avoid making adult decisions wherever possible...
  12. What I want to happen is for other people besides me to keep buying MORE Cartel Coins, then buy a whole bunch of stuff on the market, and fiercely compete with each other to sell it to me on the GTN. That is a win all around from my perspective.
  13. I don't think the worry over players bashing each other has anything at all to do with why cross-faction players can't whisper back and forth. I think its only this way because that was the accepted standard in the industry, and I think that became the standard in the industry to make it more difficult to have a "mole", so to speak on one side whispering his buddies on the other side. Of course, with the advent of various voice chat services, the whole thing is kind of a moot point. I definitely agree with being able to /e cross faction...I have no idea why that wouldn't be allowed, except as an oversight. I don't think we should go so far as whispers, though...at least not over long distances. Maybe if they could come up with a way that you could whisper an opposing faction player if you were within a certain proximity, I could support that from an RP perspective. But, the idea of whispering opposing faction players from halfway across the galaxy...I don't think it adds enough to RP to be worth the consequences.
