This was my first real complant I ever had about star wars. I see now that this is all just a misunderstanding on my part as to the intentions of Dave and GL regarding TCW. I believe that this will all work it's way out. What I really found was a lot of different ideas from the fans and I see that there is a lot of weird star wars hate. We have this wounderful universe that GL has given us. We the fans have held it up so high that it has become to big to touch. George can't please us all. We have got to be the hardest fan base to please. I feel bad for George when the fans rip into him about stuff. It's his sandbox he can do what ever he wants. I wish this thread would go away but ppl keep going on. uuuugggggg.

No worries i wasnt slagging your cannon qoute. I was just stating that if lucas is willing to pull darth maul back from the dead and straught out of the N canon pile. Then to continue his story and denial of boba fett's EU life. I think you misunderstood what I was getting at.

She is english thats the way those people sound like a bunch of self absorbed big heads. The point I'm trying to make with you is the authors do not ask for permission to kill characters they can't do that sort of thing. It's all laid out in the plot plan. Lucas and company does'nt say can you write a book for us and let the author go with it. They say here is a book we want you to write here is the plot plan now go write it. Her comment was a analogy on the way the jedi were looked at from different points of view in the star wars universe. I like the way mandos turned out and the books were great. There are some things that were not that great but hey you can not win em all over. You have to understand the authors job is to bring these characters to these plot points that being said the author must in some cases make that character do or say weird stuff to get them to these points in the story. In KT's position that was to kill mara, it was slated to happen in her book so KT and company had to make Mare act all crazy cuz in the books she is going crazy she feels alone on the Jacen subject she is over protective of Ben and she wants the truth to come out. Mara had to do the things she did in these books to bring to her death. Now sometimes we do not like what happens in the process but like I said can't win them all. Remember the fans sent death threats to Salvatore when he was asked to kill Chewbacca in Vector Prime. Thats how messed up we are as a fan base we freak on people who mess with star wars. Coing from KT's point of view I would have been on defense as well. As far as the issue of not informing Zahn about Maras slated death that is not the authors job to do. Lucas and company chose to kill Mara that responsabilty should be theirs. KT and TZ have never met why would she feel comfortable telling him that. It was not her call to kill Mara you all must understand this and stop lashing out at her on this issue because thats not the way it went down. Regardless of how you feel sh wrote the characters the decision to kill Mara was not somthing she would have the power to make these are things that are asked by lucas arts to happen. Every book is planned out before the author is notified about the work to be done. I know a lot about this industry and trust me authors can not do those sort of things it would be rude to ask to kill characters thats a good way to not get asked to come back. In other words if she was out for a paycheck that would be suicide to ask such a thing. Of course everything is approved and proofed but this to make sure the plot plan was followed and things are not out of context.

Thank you for the clarification ppl just assume that it was KT's fault the fans were the worst part about it. I would have freaked out on you ******es as well. Most ppl do not realize tht the authors do not have control over characters deaths and major plot points are all laid out before a book or series is even started. So the author has to find a way to bring these characters to these plot points so in some case making you favorite characters act different or change their views. Much in the way Anikin fell he was a great guy but then he became a selfish ******e why because he had to become Vader. Mara had to act like an weirdo cuz she was pissed at jacen and over protective of ben so she was going crazy over the fact that she felt like it was all in her head but deep down she knew the truth so acted on it and was different than the mara we all loved. She was slated to die KT had to bring her to that point. As far Barbara Hambly goes I could not even finish children of the jedi it did not feel like star wars and the plot was ****ed the were no children of the jedi back then. Unless there were tones of jedi all hiding their kids and girlfriends. Yoda is slamming some hot green chic while he tells the rest of the jedi to go home a masterbate. lol

The day I found out Mara was killed I stood on the curb and poured out some of my booze for her. R.I.P. Mara Jade. Poor luke that guy has had the hardest luck with girls. lol.

well said. Everyone on this thread should read shatter point. Awsome novel by mattew Strover one of the best star wars books ever and mace is really shown in this novel to be very powerful.

N canon is were darth maul would end up and they pulled him from this pile. So That being said I am going to say that it doesn't matter what GL says because he doesn't know what he wants and he waits for others the wright stuff that he can or can not use.

I will say this again the authors do not have that kind of power. These are things that are all laid out in the plot points of the whole series. The plot points come from Lucas arts (Sue Rostuni and company). Denning and Alliston also knew mara was slated to die it's just that it was to happen in KT's book. Now we all love Denning and Alliston and we sure as hell will not slag them now will we. Thats the ****** thing. KT got to involved with star wars because she fell in love with it, and we all hung her out to dry for the things that GL and company did to the story. Granted she may have portrayed mara differently but that is a mild argument againts the blame you are all trying to pin on her. She may have said some dumb stuff but don't we all at times, you crazed fans were pissing her off I would have freaked out on you guys as well. She just wrote it she did not have any control over the characters death or deaths. Some of you ppl are so thick. You have to see the whole picture not just your tunnel vision of blame.
