  1. Yes in theory it's good, it's brilliant actually, in theory. Unfortunately in the real world it is broken beyond belief. I was defending bolster myself in threads after 2.0 as we were all led to believe it was going to be fixed... However we were lied to and that fix never came... And once again we are left with that deafening silence that turned so many players away after 1.2. I have come to the conclusion that Bioware know they cannot fix this crappy game engine, and the silence is a way to get rid of all the customers who won't stand for this kind of crap. That way they can just do what they want at the expense of the remaining sheeple to maximise their profits. Shame really, this game had so much potential and even with this crappy game engine, it could have been a huge success if it had the right team behind it.
  2. Amen brother, they won't argue your points because deep down they know they are true. They just ignorantly see you as the "evil troll trying to bring down their precious game" You can't argue with a voice of reason, you can only belittle it in a lame attempt to gain superiority. Unfortunately these anonymous forum dwellers don't seem to understand the real world doesn't work like that. The ONLY reason I've given this game another chance is because I'm a massive fan of Star Wars. Since I've been back I've spent £200 on Cartel Coins, because I had hope for 2.0 and was actually enjoying playing again. I had a blast PvP'ing 10-49, levelling a bunch of characters during the double XP weekends and had greats hopes for Bolster in 2.0. I would even have been willing to spend much more if they were deserving of it. But the fact is, I don't think I've ever seen such an undeserving game company in my entire life. The way Bioware/EA have treated their customers is rotten to the core. Anyway, whatever indeed. Time to let the blind leading the blind mouth breathers continue to try and convince themselves "everything is going to be all right if I just put down anyone who disagrees with me!" - over to you, trolls.
  3. Even though I highly doubt that is his intent, it is obviously working... It's quite clear he is passionate about the game and wants it to succeed, and has pretty much done nothing but point out the blatant flaws Bioware need to address if they want to keep him and many many others p[l]aying. You and all the others trolling this thread can pull the wool over your eyes as much as you like, but the fact is Bioware are once again finding themselves in deep water after another failed attempt at fixing PvP. Bolster is broken and should never have been released in it's current state. Game balance is broken and should never have gotten through QA...oh that's right, Bioware let their entire QA team go... This game is running on fumes whether you like it or not. They may be topping it up ever so slightly to keep all the sheep happy, but the game will never be running on full again, not even a quarter tank is possible at this point. Hey if you still enjoy the game and are able to find solace in this example of how not to make an MMO and how not to treat your customers, all the power to you. Unfortunately for me my eyes are open and I'm not willing to bend over for Bioware any longer. I've been taken for a ride for the last time and from this day fourth my hard earned cash is going to be spent on a game that deserves every penny of it.
  4. I love it how people slag you off for posting valid facts/concerns about the game, it's current state and all of its shortcomings, like they don't exist when they blatantly do. You're a voice of reason on these forums and Bioware will be at a loss once it has gone. Wish you all the best in WoW. I'm playing GW2 now myself and after experiencing this debacle, I actually have a new found fondness for the game!
  5. Deafening silence is what Bioware do when there is an issue they know they can't fix or when they think our opinion on the subject doesn't matter. Their crappy game engine is definitely one thing they can't fix. They can't seem to implement/change anything without adversely affecting something else. That right there is a sign of an extremely poorly made engine, which is also the reason it runs so badly and why game breaking bugs will manifest out of the blue patch after patch. I can only imagine the convoluted and messy way game assets interconnect with one another to be able to break things so easily when they change the smallest of things. Then there is the gross lack of feedback on game-breaking changes to PvP. Whoever balances the game should have been fired long ago after the fiasco of 1.2. Everyone I know in game and out believe 1.2 was the death of PvP and subsequently the game. The forums were inundated with people who claimed to never post in forums that the TTK was now far too low. And it didn't stop there, site after site, blogger after blogger were all saying the same. They all banded together to tell Bioware the TTK was too low and PvP is no longer fun. Yet Bioware didn't listen, they didn't care, they just put it down to people whining I guess. They misguidedly believed what they were doing was for the better, even though anyone actively PvP'ing knew otherwise. People will tell you a lot of reasons what they believe the death of SWTOR to be. For me and pretty much everyone I know who's opinions I respect, it was patch 1.2. Not only did it put a massively sour taste in your mouth, but the shear lack of respect for the community by the game developers is what killed it. Days pass...no meaningful feedback on players distaste of the lower TTK. Weeks pass...still nothing. Months pass...I think they're trying to tell us something! "We don't care what you all think, this is how we want the game you pay to play to be, so like it or leave it." That is the message me and all my friends got, a guild of 30+ people. So guess what? We all left.... Giving your very own community the finger is one thing, that distaste spreading to the rest of the world is the proverbial nail in the coffin. Roll on to a few weeks ago and all past transgressions are forgotten, I'm actually enjoying the game once again! Then 2.0 gets released and it's 1.2 all over again.... How can a game fail so badly time and time again? Game design isn't rocket science, it boils down to what's fun and what isn't. What do your customers enjoy, what do they not. They could have engaged with people, set up opinion polls...there is soo much they could have done to mitigate the damage being done to the game and the community after 1.2. There is so much they could have done to instil some faith back into the people who desperately needed it. Hell even with all the games shortcomings PvP was fun pre 1.2. To this day people will tell you it was the most balanced PvP they have ever experienced in a MMORPG, that holiest of though patches...patch 1.1.5. I think a working bolster is a great idea along side a balanced game, but it's implementation along with the once again seriously low TTK has again killed the game. Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, should I have expected anything less?
  6. No, it is not fixed. With just the Partasian weapon, rest PVE with no relics, I have 1943 Expertise on my Operative. Yet I STILL die in seconds and STILL hit like a wet noodle compared to everyone else. My burst is literally non existent, it just isn't there. The ONLY thing that helps, albeit it very very slightly, is Explosive Probe, yet it is prohibitively expensive and my energy is screwed no matter when I seem to use it which then FURTHER impedes my burst. So pathetically ironic that alone should be reason to quit, although Bioware definitely don't need any help in that department... I'm done, Bioware clearly can't fix this crappy engine or figure out how to balance a class. I don't think I've ever seen such a ludicrously high level of ineptitude in a game before. Not that I'm blaming the current developers directly, I think using the hero engine and then heavily modifying it beyond the scope of it's original design was a terrible idea in the first place. It clearly wasn't meant to be done and whoever was responsible clearly had no idea what they were doing to end up bodging the game engine up this badly. They've poorly tacked on so much crap they can't change ANYTHING without adversely affecting some other aspect of the game. What a joke. it's time to say goodbye, I really don't care if you'll miss me or not but I'm sure you'll tell me anyway and no you can't have my stuff because I have deleted the game already.
  7. Very good points I'd like to add to. I think the biggest issue we have here, is the Hero Engine itself. It's such a convoluted poorly constructed engine that it massively impedes the game developers ability to competently develop in their own game. They can't seem to make any changes to it without negatively impacting some other aspect of the game. Not to mention they had to heavily incorporate a lot of their own code into the engine itself, something I understand was extremely complex. So in the end, what we are left with is a shambles of an engine, that doesn’t want to do what they tell it to without something going very wrong. Now if I was a game developer working with tools like that on a daily basis, it would stress me out to no end and the last thing I’d do is try to engage the player base, my job would be stressful enough already without having to deal with the idiots on these forums. Their hands are literally being tied by the tools they are using, it really is no wonder the game is suffering shamble after shamble. This doesn’t help us the consumer I know, but it is what it is, and for all the complaining we do, I really don’t think there is anything even Bioware can do about it. Certainly not without redesigning the entire engine from scratch. I think it’s time for me to gracefully step away from SWTOR, I tried to come back for 2.0 and get back into the game, but it’s the same old story and if they are unable to fix the engine by now, I honestly don’t think it’s even possible. Oh SWTOR, we had some good times, I’ll do my best to hold on to those.

    Operative @ 55

Yes! This! Exactly this! I've never felt so disheartened in this game than when I hit 55 on my Operative, something VERY fishy is going on with this class. I'm hitting like a wet noodle, I'm burning through energy FAR quicker than before and I'm also dying a hell of a lot quicker too. Something is not scaling properly on Operatives at all... I thought it was just the bolster bug, but if it's not, and if this turns out to be "another issue they are going to have to look into" that will end up not be fixed until ANOTHER upcoming patch...well then I'm saying goodbye to this game for good. I can't take these disappointments any more, they are not good for my mental well-being! I play games to relax and have fun, not be disappointed time and time again... Things were looking so good with 2.0, such a shame it all gets ruined by a gross lack of investment in proper development and QA.
  9. I've decided to stop playing until 2.01... Things weren't too bad in the pre-55 WZ's, but my god the 55 WZ's are TERRIBLE. I've never felt so disheartened in this game than my first few 55 WZ's and I haven't logged back in since. I went from being able to hold my own to hitting like a wet noodle and dying in seconds. It actually tops the feeling of disappointment I had after 1.2... I'll reassess the game after 2.01, but if bolster isn't fixed, I'm not going to spend another penny on this game. Seriously, how many chances do you reasonably give a games company until enough is enough? If Bioware can't invest in proper QA to iron out bugs like these before patches go live, then I refuse to invest any more money in this game. I'm tired of being a guinea pig time and time again... It's grown REALLY OLD. Bioware already hold the record for disappointment after disappointment by a large margin, and it only seems to be growing. GG
  10. This is intended, there is a split-second at the end of the roll that purposely impairs your movement to stop the jumping exploit that was discovered on the PTS. On the PTS, if you timed your jump just right, you could nearly double the distance on Scamper. That obviously couldn't be permitted and the impairment was put in place. It really isn't that bad once you get used to it.
  11. Exactly, that is the whole point of the bolster change. It keeps the gear progression paths intact but also allows everyone to contribute to the WZ as the gear gap isn't nearly as big any more. Yet BiS PvP gear will still put you ahead. This is a good move on Bioware's part and should greatly improve queue times for WZ's across all servers as it makes PvP more accessible. What it won't fix is noobs entering WZ's not knowing what they are doing, but unfortunately that's one issue Bioware will never be able to fix
  12. No that's the point, your expertise will not get bolstered to max. The only stats that get bolsters close to max, are PVE stats, even on PvP gear. So if you are wearing the best PVE gear, none of your PVE stats will get bolstered, but you will receive some expertise. Whereas if you are wearing full PvP gear, you will have the full amount of expertise, and close to max PVE stats. However the extra expertise full PvP gear gives, is far more beneficial than the extra PVE stats using the best PVE gear will give. Which is why it will always be PvP gear > PVE gear @ 55.
  13. No, if you have a mod with Expertise on it in "any" piece of gear, just one mod, the bolster system will assume that is a PvP piece of gear and it will not get bolstered with any expertise. Which means you can get your PVE shells, and put all your PvP mods in and the system will think you are wearing PvP - this is correct. What you can't do without gimping yourself, is mix and match PVE/PvP mods together in a piece of gear. If you do this, you will be short on expertise and the extra PVE stats won't be able to make up for the loss. This is actually beneficial to all PVPers, as it means PvP gear still matters, just not as much as it did before. But at the end of the day, PvP gear > PVE gear @ 55, as it should be.
  14. Well that's your problem right there, you are under the impression that top PVE gear will be better than Partasian/Conqueror gear... Well it won't. You will not be able to get the full amount of Expertise with top PVE gear, which is what pushes PvP gear slightly ahead of it. I take it your concerns come from the PTS? If so bolster was not working correctly which is why top PVE was pushing ahead. That should no longer be the case, ergo your concerns are warrantless.
  15. Lets look at the major PvP changes 2.0 has brought; The gear gap isn't as prevalent. Skill actually matters in PvP now. Both of those things have a positive impact on the game. Yes it may not have been the smoothest of starts with the bolster bug, but that doesn't stop their intention being a good one. With the PvP changes things are different for sure, but they are heading in the right direction in 2.0 and when all the kinks are worked out, it will be better for everyone.
