  1. So...if you're in a rated and thus, naturally have several pocket healers, I guess vig/tank spec is the way to go?? I watched about 9mins of the video. Nice editing and music by the way! What I don't understand, is WHY I didn't see you use Master Strike/Ravage? Maybe I missed it, but given that our dmg output is already abysmal with vigilance/vengeance, it's puzzling that you'd leave out one of the few abilities that would boost your dps. Either way, its good to see a JKG/Jugg video up every once in awhile. -Shakazulu
  2. To the OP: sure, I'll agree to your request, but only AFTER you give my JKG the ability to root AT RANGE, in addition to my Force Leap root. Otherwise, no. Also, I'm being perma-stunned and killed all the while having a full Resolve bar...and you're complaining a JK root?? Wow. -Shaka
  3. I could not have said it better myself. RWZ just came out and before that, you were limited to a group of three other people that you queued up with. The vast majority of warzones up until this point have been PUGs. There was no reason for a JKG to go Defense spec in this situation and given that going Defense just slightly increases your ability to survive, why even bother? The only caveat to this statement is Vanguard/Powertech as they're both meatshields AND dps (currently). I decided to see how the other half lived and rolled a FOTM Vanguard and I'm just simply AMAZED out how quickly I can kill and how long I can survive, even at lvl 20. Granted, this experience may change at lvl 50, but given all the calls for the Nerfbat, probably not by much. I'd like to see a place for Defense spec tanks (JKG) in pvp, but with few exceptions, they're just not viable as they stand. -Shakazulu
  4. I actually unsubbed for about a month and a half, waiting on my old server (Sith Wrym) to be added to the transfer list. During that pre-transfer period, since all I have time for is pvp and there were ZERO queues popping, I just said to hell with it and left. Now I'm on Corellian and it's like a brand new game. Sure, the WH grind is going to be long (working on 3rd piece, augmented, now) but it's fun again because there are plenty of people to play with and our guild is going strong. For me, it's all about fun. If you're not having fun, then yeah it may be time to take a break. I was going to switch over to GW2 and drop swtor, but I'm having a blast in pvp again and so I'll probably run both games for some time to come. I do agree tho, that a GRIND, does not necessarily add fun to pvp...but at the same time, you want to have some sort of reward for the time you do put into the Warzones...but what can take the place of gear? I think we need a new Warzone already. Maybe something that someone hasn't seen in an mmo before. Hmm.... -Shaka
  5. I try and offer helpful advice from time to time, but 90% of people basically just yell DON'T YOU TELL ME HOW TO PLAY, even though they're obviously clueless when it comes to pvp or WZ objectives. I don't mind newcomers who are trying to learn, but at least get some recruit gear on ffs. I'm talking non-rated lvl 50, no RWZ...as I only have 2 WH pieces at the moment and don't feel ready for RWZs just yet. And I agree, getting 1 or no medals AND a loss is already penalty enough. -Shakazulu
  6. I absolutely agree with this. Some rounds, it's better just to scrap that round and start over rather than wasting 12min in a Huttball game that you get 2 or 3 medals along with your loss. If I can tell 4/8 people have never even pvp'd before, or are running towards YOUR Huttball goal-line with the damned ball...yeah, I'm out. I'd rather leave and wait 5min than run around with people who are clueless when it comes to pvp. -Shakazulu
  7. I feel that overall Guardians are well-balanced at the moment, with our slightly below-par dmg output being compensated with mobility and utility. AE snares/fear as well as the ability to switch stances (to guard a healer etc.) are undervalued by some pvp'rs. Basically, if you're in a pug that has a few healers and the healer keeps you alive, you're good and you can apply meaningful pressure via damage. Otherwise, you're just a medium damage output melee that is slightly less squishy that other classes. I think we could use a stun ability (for focus or vigilance spec) that was like on a 2min cool-down. Additionally, anyone who claims that vigilance dmg OWNS FACE is attacking some pvp'r with recruit gear or worse. It's a medium dmg, long-term pressure spec and doesn't provide a huge amount of burst. I play it because it's more fun than the one-trick-pony that is Focus. I haven't tried focus since 1.2, so I can't comment on it just yet. -Shaka
  8. Although I do get frustrated at times with pvp, I try not to bring negativity to the forums. I do think there are a lot of people here that THINK they're better than other people, skillset wise. Either way, is there any way to prove who's better? The only true test of an individuals skill is a duel against their mirror class (dark/light) with the exactly the same set of pvp gear. Everything else is unbalanced due to disparity in gear and class composition (fotm etc.). I say play what you find fun and ignore that idiots calling people "n00bs" or "baddies". They're probably 14 year old kids who are, in general, mad at the world.
  9. I was under the impression that shields are nearly useless in pvp, given that this particular game mechanic is completely ignored/bypassed by all types of critical hits.
  10. Decent gameplay/editing. I'm a metalhead so I loved the music
  11. Jedi Knight Guardian (JKG fo' life). I've never actually TRIED defense, but both vigilance and focus are fun. We do have to manage an inordinate amount of skills/cooldowns and I like the challenge. I'm working on a shadow but it's slow going because I'm not really feeling that fun factor that I do with my JKG. I like leaping around and force-pushing imps off bridges and cliffs. It makes my day. -Shaka
  12. Well, I'd say that swtor is already making an effort with the more structured WZ approach, but that feeling of conflict and struggle, especially between the light and darkside, simply doesn't exist and I think that BW should not ignore that open world pvp potential (assuming they can figure out a way to make the HERO game engine not suk). I did play a ton of BGs and Arena (made 2k rating at best, so not super-elite) and I'd have to say that overall, the BGs were way more fun than Arena. In terms of showcasing your skill and knowledge of your class and of all other classes, then that is where Arena had the spotlight. The problem I have with arenas is that it's only going to be sustainable if you have a HUGE population base, as only maybe 10% of the people who pvp at all are going to be doing that sort of thing. I did arenas, was pretty good at it but still went back to BGs because I had more fun there. And I totally agree. The Southshore example more closely mirrors a PVP-RP setting, but I was actually on a PvE server the entire time I played WoW. What I think areas of conflict do, is give people who wouldn't normally think about pvp'n an opportunity to get involved and have some fun. Keep in mind that was WAY back in the day and there was no pvp gear. Just the gear you had on ya from whatever dungeons you were running. Overall, unless BW figures out a way to keep the server populations moving in a positive direction, pvp is going to become more and more sparse, as it generally appeals to only a fraction of the player base.
  13. I'd say that REAL PVP is something that is fun, something that is perpetually striving for a good balance, and an arena that really facilitates perpetual CONFLICT as well as an "us vs. them" mentality. I hate to bring it up, but one of my BEST pvp memories was back in the days of vanilla WoW. Anyone remember Southshore? And do you remember that one of the Horde keeps was right by a cross-roads area that was next to the town of Southshore. All it took was for ONE horde or alliance member to start some sh*t and all the of sudden, the entire area turned into a BATTLE ROYALE. Being able to start sh*t at ANY given time and having a reasonably good chance to take down your opponent, depending on whether or not you had all your cool-downs ready to go...and having the will and determination to take down your enemy...yeah, to me that's pvp. Anyone who doesn't pvp AT ALL...well hell, I don't know what else you would do in swtor? -Shaka
  14. I don't think that CCs are too numerous and, in fact, I love the diversity of the different types (root, snare, stun, FORCE-PUSH hehe) but I do think that the amount of resolve that's applied per CC is far too low. If one class can root you, then you pop resolute, and then they stun you, and then someone else stuns you, and then someone else knocks you back...yep, resolve bar is MAYBE 3/4 full at that point. So either: increase the resolve per CC AND have the resolve bar fade relatively quickly or, give us multiple ways to get out of a CC, on say, 45 second cool downs. It's pretty simple. Not all classes have multiple ways to get OUT of CCs. This fact hasn't really being taken into consideration, I think. -Shaka
