  1. I'd concur that this needs to be in game, the way we play our alts and such can have an impact. I happened to have a Sorcerer before I had a Sage, I had fun with the Sage and don't want an Empire equivalent. I'd like to have both sides of the Advanced Class feel but am stuck with a Sorcerer. It wouldn't be an issue except crew skills were leveled high and I had spent a million credits on a white crystal (a few months back). I don't play daily, the time to play is more casual so the idea of going back through all of it again and also losing out on the million on the crystal I spent doesn't sit well. It's not laziness, it's a change in how things happened, to have the ability to change your Advanced Class shouldn't be frowned upon. Advanced Class Respect +1
  2. Hello, My suggestion is to have the option for the Guild MOTD to have certain attributes granted to it. What I mean is by the following example: Don't like the MOTD as a pop-up but instead want it displayed in the chat window? Uncheck the "Guild MOTD Pop-Up" Option. Want it as a Pop-up but not in the Chat Window? Uncheck the "Guild MOTD Chat Wiindow" Option. Want both on? Both off? Select both or unselect both Options as mentioned above. I know it's a minuscule thing but to have the option, I'd think it'd be one of the easier things to implement and I know most guilds would find it useful. Thank you for your time.
  3. First off, thanks for all the replies, it's good to see activity on it and it brings about debate. I think I might be taken out of context. I'm not looking to change from a Sorcerer to like a Marauder, but the other half of the advanced class branch tree for a Sith Inquisitor. Yes, I know it's easy to get a character from 1 to 10 in only a couple hours. Yes, I know it's easy to get crew skills back up. I guess the principle of it is that I spent $ to get them that high already, and the schematics which aren't as easy to come by combined with spending a million on a white lightsaber crystal that's bound to that character, I'd really like just to switch over. That's why I outlined how I thought it could be done in a fair fashion (my initial post) without breaking the system. The chances of it happening are pretty slim, but the folks that could use this for the right means should speak up. If BW hears it enough, there might be a way to make this work farily.
  4. Hello, I know in searching this has been covered in the past but I wanted to bring it up again with the hopes of offering a different take on it. Here's my scenario: I started the game and made lots of alts quickly to take advantage of the Crew Skills and getting those up rather quickly. Time has passed and one of the characters I enjoy playing is a Sage but one of my maxed out Crew Skills is Synthweaving on an alt Sorcerer. Having really enjoyed the Sage Advanced Class on the Republic Side, I now know I want to have my Sorcerer be an Assassin (to experience the other side of the Advanced Class Tree, even though it's the other faction). But with all the time and money I put into the Sorcerer as a Synthweaver, it'd be a waste to delete and recreate as an Assassin. The Sorcerer is only level 11 or 12, what would the problem be in resetting him back to level 10 and giving the user the option to respec the Advanced Class? I can understand not allowing higher levels to switch for the sake of not having to work through the other branch of the tree, but for folks like myself where it's literally a level or two into the Advanced Class, would it really cause that much of a problem? The Proposal - For an Advanced Class Respec to work, the userbase would be able to purchase them much like a Skill Tree reset, except when you pick to have the Advanced Class Respec completed, it will reset the user back to level 10 and their quest log would be updated to point of having completed the first planet for their respective side. This would mean those that respec their Advanced Class get their switch and they'd immediately have access to start Coruscant or Dromund Kaas. My only conundrum is how to handle accumulated items so far. I would think you'd get to keep them but it would de-quip them from your character if you don't meet the level requirements. I'm assuming most would not approve, but for those that played 15 or so levels into a class and really want to be the other side of the tree, this would be their opportunity. This would allow those that want to do it, to do it and it would be fair across the board for everyone. Anyone that purchased schematics for crew skills, or once in a lifetime purchases (geologist vendor, rakghoul plague items) can hold onto these for their characters. This would strictly revolve around adventure level changes. Please let me know if this seems WAY out of bounds, but just taking a step back and looking at this, I believe it's a fair way to address it. Thoughts? Concerns? Thanks everyone for your time.
  5. Thanks for all the recommendations, as just previously mentioned a post or two above this one, I recently found that why it crashes is because of remote desktop trying use your current computer's graphics card instead of the graphics card on the remote machine (that can actually play the game). This was further proven with the Guild Wars 2 Beta, if you were to try and run it through Remote Desktop, you'll see it gather stats and the video/graphics driver it finds is not the correct graphics card on the remote machine. Also, many thanks above to the person that said you can leave it at the login screen to get by the patcher, I'll keep that in mind next time there's maintenance.
  6. I agree, I can do the same. Does anyone know why one can play it through remote desktop if it's already running yet you can't execute it initially by clicking Play on the Patcher? To clarify, Remote Desktop with a preexisting SWTOR game running works fine. Albeit slow, I can up my crew skills for the slow points at work, it gets what I needed done. But take today for example, with the extended downtime, I couldn't launch the game before I left. If I go to start the patcher, it patches, and when I click Play, it appears to work for a second, then either crashes or just won't start up.
  7. I endorse having a Mentoring system in the game. I find myself with a ton of characters I want to play stuck at different groups of friends levels. If I want to play that character, I would risk outleveling the group of friends I want to stick with. By allowing mentoring, I could solo my hearts desire and bring it back down to my more casual friends level so grouping and roles needed could still be fulfilled. COH's system was great, but I think I liked EQ2's a little more. It allowed your gear to be brought down to the person you were mentoring's level and it felt very even and fair. Great thread!
  8. Oh nice, way better than my link! Good post Daemian!
  9. Hi there, I was looking around myself and found this. See if this answers your questions or helps out at all: http://www.shootahboys.com/swtor/swtor-speeder-guide/
  10. Fantastic Thread! Keep up the amazing work! A Little Give: Sort of mentioned but I wanted to expand on it, the Holocrons can be a bit tough to get to sometimes and the platforming can be somewhat rough with the controls for those not used to it. Note there are 2 ways of jumping that can help you (please expand if there are more tricks to jumping but the two below have helped me immensely). 1 - The jump and move - I used this for those short jumps that need precision, I jump with the Spacebar (default) first and as the jump is pressed, then push W (walk forward by default). Good example of use (Justicar Territory Holocron, the 3 pipes placed like stairs horizontally) 2 - Move and jump - The basic jump where you gather momentum by moving forward (W key by default) and then pressing Spacebar (Jump by default) to make the leap. 3 - A good handful of MMOs have the ability to drag an item from your inventory/bag and click on your character/companion to equip it (with the programming in place to know where it's supposed to go slot-wise). If it requires being Bound, it will ask you. NOT IN SWTOR! Be careful, my muscle memory was in place and I lost a couple items for my companion (including first customizations) because I thought the "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DESTROY THIS?" popup was the "BIND THIS ITEM?" popup. Don't be stupid like me and learn from my mistakes! A Little Take: 1 - Is there any way to get your choice of default customization for your first companion back? Similar to the preorder crystal vendor? Being in the lower levels, 12.5K Credits is a lot of quiche I don't want to spend. I'm ok without it but it's just one of those things I wish I had 2 - For the Target Markers (Right Click, Target Marker, Pick Your Marker), is there any way to bind these? It would help speed up the process a bit, but love that it's in there no matter what.
