  1. Dev Tracker August 4th, 2011 - "We are on the finishing stretches for this game, the first BioWare MMO set in the Star Wars: The Old Republic era. It's a spiritual sequel to the KotOR games and focuses heavily on bringing BioWare story into the MMO space. It features a highly polished and fluent evolution of traditional MMO combat systems. It has the bells and whistles of a modern MMO, it's faithful to the IP and universe it's set in and it features BioWare's signature features such as story, companions, etc." The highlighted in red is why I've unsubbed. All the false promise and on top of that. Nothing is more faithful to the Starwars universe than having Sith Pureblood Jedi.
  2. I was really excited about 1.2 For serious.. More race class combinations, more color crystals, modable UI, guild banks, combat logs.. Everything was great, until I realized.. You could be a Sith Pureblood Jedi.. Your little smuggle can do Force Choke.. With regards to how much lore **** that is.. Off to Tera Online I go. Good job Bioware. P.S. Being a Light Sided Sith pureblood may be possible if rare, but being a Sith pureblood accepted by the JEDI into their ORDER. Considering we live in an era where Satele had to hide her love affair and children, where romance is greatly disapproved of by the Jedi... -Le Sigh-
  3. I think there is alot of misunderstanding here that I need to clear up... Or hope I could. Light sided Sith purebloods? Possible. JEDI Sith purebloods? Seriously.. those people don't even allow marriage, you think they'd allow a demonic looking thing to join them, one or two MAYBE with much suspicion and alot "proving" to do, a big bunch of them..? Take a guess. Force sensitive Chiss? Sure as hell. Chiss who shoot lightning without training? Really..? Being Force sensitive does not automatically mean you are Jedi or Sith. You just have the POTENTIAL to do neat ****, yet sometimes force sensitivity could even but not "enough" to be honed into a Sith or a Jedi. I personally think alot of people misunderstand being LIGHT side and being Jedi, as well as being Force sensitive and ACTUALLY using lightning. Let me put out a very simple example. There are ALOT OF talented artists out there of all sorts, only a handful are EARNING BIG bucks. It's difficult for a Sith pureblood to throw away all those years of teaching to embrace a whole other set of teachings that conflict with many aspects of their previous teachings. Yet it is not impossible, there can be a small number of Drizzt Do'urdens.. Yet what if there's a big bunch of "Lawful good" Dark elves? While on the other hand, it is even MORE difficult for the OPPOSING SIDE to accept you, considering your entire race's roots go down to that which the Jedi oppose. On top of that Sith are known to be deceptive, manipulative and treacherous, it does not help their resume if they want to jump sides. Now to the whole thing about non Jedi/Sith using force lightning/force choke. True, Luke barely had training and managed to do some amazing **** with the force, but do remember, he is "THE ONE". We on the other hand are the everyday people, unsung heroes or villains, what-not. To be FORCE Sensitive for alot alot of races is very likely especially n this era, but force sensitivity DOES NOT mean you can naturally sprout lightning from your hands or even manage a force push. Yes that weird prisoner in Nar shadda managed to somehow learn force choke and think he is God. <--- I personally think that is ********. Much like the whole Sith pureblood Jedi, or force choking smugglers. Lightning shooting Bounty hunters? Not so, it could be some techie stuff and nothing to do with the force. I only end with this.. Bioware, I am deeply disappointed.
  4. No. Simple reason, all that hype and promise came forth poorly delivered. The engine is horrendous, the graphics subpar. In my humble opinion of course, there are way, way better games coming out really soon that has much less fps issues for similar or better graphics. Endgame has proved to be a bore.. If not for the fact it is Starwars, I would have left the game long ago. Now I'm simply waiting to see what 1.2 can deliver which will decide for me whether or not I'll pull the plug.
  5. I recently got to 50 and I'll tell you some things I learned about being a tank Jugg. Firstly, your CCs are ******* annoying for everyone else. Your charge? Epic. However you have to realize somethings. You do really turn the tide, with a Sorc who has force pull tagging with you? Epic in Huttball. With a healer? You can hold alot of positions. Doors in Voidstar, Turrets in Alderaan. Problem is that once you get to 50... with the lack of expertise? You still get facerolled. For me? I just CC the crap out of everyone and spam taunts to nerf their general damage. Intercede and assist as much as possible. I like my tank spec/tank gear combo for immortal.. the utility and annoyance to the enemy is fun! I have however heard of DPS smash juggs running on DPS gear / Soresu stance for guard. They are quite the monsters for damage but then again I've no tried it. I might!!
  6. When will the Twi'lek lekku be fixed? As in the hooded Twi'leks, and the masks that make their Lekku disappear completely?
  7. Wow... So I'm at work now and reading the forums and came across this whole junk of things about Mara Jade and the writer KT. Personally I've read Legacy, really though the whole story feels ughh.. Cade Skywalker was ugghh.. But is this the same Legacy as LOTF? I'm speaking of the Legacy Comics that is. Also, I really wanna thank you guys for giving me insight on NJO and how I would not even bother touching it. I know the base idea of what's going on but I guess I really don't wanna go further making purchases to get this kind of trash. Lastly, I want to ask, who created Celeste Morne? A character surviving from.. PRE SWTOR all the way til Cade Skywalker's era? Even with the all the reasons why she should be alive, it all feels so far-fetched, but that is just my humble opinion.
  8. Vaapad is a variant of what we have ingame now known as Juyo. Windu himself created Vaapad out of Juyo and here is a small summary of it from the wikia. Vaapad was described as more than a fighting style; it was a state of mind that led through the penumbra of the dark side, requiring the user to enjoy the fight, and relish the satisfaction of winning. The practitioner of Vaapad would accept the fury of their opponent, transforming them into one half of a superconducting loop, with the other half being the power of darkness inherent in the opponent.[9] The form was also mentioned with a cautionary warning by the Jedi that use of Vaapad led the user perilously close to the dark side due to its focus on physical combat. As stated it clearly goes against the Jedi Code. However it is canon back to our era and up til the new republic that even Jedi use it despite how it is still "Frowned" upon by the Council and most Jedi. I personally would not want to comment whether or not Sith or Jedi are truely good or evil ectera. By right, by Lucas, Jedi are good, Sith are evil, that is what I know. As for using the dark side and maintaining good, The dark side corrupts the mind and body, as you all know of the force corruption, inherently it is a powerful negative force. So no, I do not think it is possible to use the dark force and maintain a good person if one keeps using it without extreme discipline. If you look up Vaapad or Mace Windu, it explains why he is allowed to use the form and who he has chosen to teach it to and why. Then again, what is canon or not gets really weird anyway. Force Unleashed is considered Canon if I'm not wrong.. So yeah... >.> To me pulling down an entire Star Destroyer being Canon is more ******** then most of EU. Really arguing on whether canon or not is really dancing in many shades of grey. Revan is Canon and he jumps from light to dark to light to dark like he is playing frogger.
  9. The differences start to show after 30ish I believe. Then again endgame wise they all end up sharing quite a few sets. They took out alot of stuff from Beta as if they never existed now but yes as mentioned a ton of us had been wearing quite a few of those removed gear.
  10. Read my entire post slowly and clearly. I said wow had better textures for CHARACTER MODELS. I also said.. the graphic standards for the VIDEOS (not cinematics) referencing to Videos such as Class progression, had better graphics then our ingame graphics. My God are you going to go around screaming YOU BEG OF ATTENTION, just because a person does not agree with you and they have an opinion that a specific set of graphics is better on a game then the other? P.S. Also ignore the entire explaination my Stephen Reid, thanks.
  11. You solely missed the entire point. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=175553 Read closely. The graphics in the VIDEOS are way way better then the crap we get in game. Even Stephen Reid admitted to it. THAT is why people are angry. Please gather your information before assuming. Also, if you even understand texturing, WOW currently has higher res textures for their character models, then what we have ingame right now.
  12. Wait wait wait.. Let me try to understand this. So a massive "explanation" was given by Bioware. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all in all in comes down to this. "Because there are there are too many players, the server or system cannot handle high res graphics." Once again correct me if I'm wrong.. on an even shorter summary.. "Working as intended." I'm not trying to hate on the game, but the explanation is nothing but an excuse. Because honestly, WOW had better textures, so did many others in terms of character models. Right now I am worried we can NEVER get high res textures, because HeroEngine might as well be renamed to zeroengine, it is a mess. On a side note, my browless Twi'lek Jedi upon Dark 3 onwards grew eyebrows, they changed the entire complexion that I originally used.. What is up with that?
  13. I agree with the article on a few factors. I lul-d at the WOW gear comparison cause, WOW HAD BETTER TEXTURES EGADS! (Well it may be due to bad picture quality but I still believe WOW had better armor and character textures.) I will wait for 1.2 to decide whether or not I will stay. No, I do not buy the whole give them time ********, they had 7 years of WOW experience that they could have learned from.. OR any other MMO failures they could have learned from such as WAR. My BIGGEST issue on top of everything else is this.. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=162569 In this post is a copy of what Stephen Reid addressed on High res textures. In simple terms "Working as intended" Because the damned engine cannot handle better character graphics with the amount of players in game, and treating us like idiots thinking we do not understand why a MMOs have lesser graphical standards, and assuming we would think that this is acceptable.. There will be people who think other wise, No I do not think lowly or wrong of you people we are all entitled to our opinions and at this point I am just sharing mine.
  14. I've thought about this alot, but after seeing all the ability issues due to animations and in most cases the Republics suffer, that aside, I would only hope that each saber form? Gets a different stance, that's all I ask for... Any new animation added is going to give more issues to combat, as if the current isn't bad enough
  15. You think it's fantastic because Qyzen is a Tank, nothing wrong there. I can understand where you're coming from. Let me explain further on the companion AI issue. I play Marauder and Guardian so here goes.. In simple terms, Kira/Jaesa are my favourite companions they are basically DPS Light armor characters. When I get the ball rolling, they enjoy hitting 1 mob, then jumping to another, basically trying to act like a GODDAMNED tank, when they are wearing light and have BARELY any survivalbility. Sometimes they bug and hit CC, sometimes they attack ANOTHER mob patrolling by. (Rare cases but that happens.) In simple terms, they act like a tank, can't survive the damage. <--- I'm annoyed most by this. As for Qyzen I tried that too and of course it works fantastically, he was built to be a tank, he can take hits and wears heavy too. Occasional CC breaking still happens but livable. No do not tell me to use another companion because Bioware can't get the AI fixed.
