  1. And like so many others you've entirely missed the boat with this post. They aren't competing with WoW at release they are competing with WoW now. Don't think for an instant that this game would have anymore than 200k subs if WoW were in its BC heyday if WoW weren't some bastard child now SWTOR would be on death row. The only thing that this game has right is community, it full of casual players and the worst thing casuals do is complain about hardcores. This means it's a good community for the most part I won't dispute that. But let's address your this isn't BW this is EA comment. If Bioware was putting out close to the same quality despite EA being the overbearing parent then you might have a point. However, let's have a look see at Bioware's last two games (outside of SWTOR) Dragon Age II was a decent game that wasn't even close to a normal Bioware game quality wise, and Mass Effect 3 that combine one of the worst endings in gaming history with one of the best series in gaming history. These are Bioware issues, not EA issues. If something is flawed at its core (Dragon Age II) or has story elements that just plain stink (Mass Effect 3) that's on Bioware, not EA. So I'm inclined to give EA some slack due to Bioware's current track record, which is influenced by EA sure, but not directly EA's fault. This game has had almost 7 months to make an impression on me. I leave with a bitter taste in my mouth and a bunch of half fulfilled hopes. Good luck Bioware, you really, REALLY need it. I hope that if you enjoy this game that you continue to, and I hope that I can one day come back.
  2. after playing for almost 7 years I was kind of burnt out on WoW. I've always said the only way I'd go back is if I could play a Panderan brewmaster as a class (mostly to run around throwing alcohol on people yelling HOW BOUT A DRINK). But I digress. I quit WoW in Cata and have considered very seriously going back twice, mostly because of SWTOR. WoW may not be a 10 anymore, it may not have been a 10 for a while, but it's still above a 5. And after dating a 3 for awhile (SWTOR) I have considered going back to my 6 often.
  3. There's where you're wrong. You're assuming this content will be WoW difficulty hard so you're using the mythical .1% strawman argument. No, even if nightmare were to come out, it would be 1% of guilds clearing it the first couple nights and 10% within two weeks. Doesn't matter what difficulty they come out with in this game. Content is small and content isn't hard. If they want to gear it towards casuals, that's fine. But they will continue to hemmorhage subscriptions from both the hardcore and casual crowds. As the hardcores leave due to lack of content and the casuals leave because they're causals. However, this game has FAR greater issues still than difficult raiding content. Just makes me sad that it's gotten to the point where I've had to cave and cancel my subscription. I just can't keep living a lie with this game, I don't find it worth the money I'm putting into it.
  4. 1) Complete lack of PvE challenge. After beating HM EC in the first couple weeks I waited for NM EC. I'm still waiting. 2) Absolutely dead Economy. I'm not saying there is nothing to buy. I'm saying there is nothing WORTH buying. The economy of this game is such an udder joke 6 months into the game. Crafting is god AWFUL, every time there is some worth buying they nerf it. Nothing is difficult to get because people can sit in fleet and gather all the mats they need therefore killing the materials market in turn killing the crafted items market. 3) Complete lack of PvP depth. PvP is simple, Playing a class in PvP even simpler. Balance isn't as bad as people make it out to be but I'm guessing that just stems from the fact that 9/10 players are not very good at PvP (least on my server anyway). 4) Complete lack of time sinks. I have spent a considerable amount of my play time on my main flying around fleet with really nothing to do. There are no quests at 50 worth doing, Dailies get boring after doing them 5 months in a row, PvP queues aren't always reliable, and I can't fish. 5) Customization is terrible. Most sets look AWFUL in this game. I happen to be lucky and I chose the body type 3 for males, it seems like most sets are meant to be used on that body type since their proportions are messed up on smaller body types. Also there are only like 2-3 sets even worth wearing in this game because their art designers apparently have no idea what the Star Wars universe is like. Edit: Also, I RP a little. *Spoilers* You have been warned. But it gets kind of ridiculous when every Consular is on the Jedi Council. Every Bounty Hunter could kill the Supreme Chancellor. etc. etc. Not to mention the fact that this is the Star Wars Universe so everyone and their mother God Modes into some Ultimate Sith or Jedi. But the latter part really isn't Bioware's fault.
  5. MVP votes just need to be removed. They're pointless. Considering you can't be in all places at once in a warzone you have no idea if that powertech deserves it for killing their healers all WZ, or that Assassin deserves it for scoring the huttball, or that healer deserves it for holding middle all game. Without being able to watch the whole game it's pointless to say who is the most valuable. If they added some sort of spectator mode then maybe MVP votes would be viable. However, in their current form all they stand for is participation awards.
  6. Best- Marauder/Sentinel, They are clearly the strongest at this current juncture. Only class capable of beating a good one consistently is a Sniper. Honorable Mentions- Pyrotech/Assault Vanguard- Great Damage, Very Meh survivablity, Decent mobility. Ops Healers/Scoundrel Healers- Near constant movement, hard to keep from healing. Tank Shadows/Assassins- Honestly not sure how they fair anymore. I've heard mixed reports, but their nerfs weren't all THAT drastic so I'm gonna assume they're still close to the top. Gunslingers/Snipers- Very strong all around class, good survivability and damage, can be LoS'd and has to be stationary. Worst- Merc/Commando DPS- These guys just melt, they're easy to jump on easy to lock down and only are a threat if you let them act like a turret and take potshots at your team. REALLY need some love. Honorable Mention- Sages/Sorcs- I'd have to say some of the worst scaling in the game, they're just so damn squishy. Could really use a good OH **** button to help them out, because right now their shields just don't cut it. I will say though that they still do have decent dps and heals, and excellent utility. Honestly, unless I'm killing a healer I'll jump on the nearest Sage/Sorc just because I know I can kill them VERY quickly. Operatives/Scoundrel DPS- This is my personal feeling, there are good ones who still do very well, but I've found far and away that they lack some serious umph if you mess with their rotation, it's either get your rotation off and hope you win or run. They're borderline need some love for me just because I see what a good player can do with one.
  7. Meh, Legacy updates are pointless aside from MAYBE 2-3. Augments are messed up right now, and the economy of this game is still a joke. I won't even mention WZ adrenals as the sheer stupidity behind their existence in the current craft form is so stupid it may cause my brain to implode. Ranked Warzones are nice but rely on a nice balance of gear and class balance (aka we'll see). Group Finder was made much more unnecessary with server consolidation, however, despite the fact I'll never use it I recognize its worth as a quality of life upgrade. The nail in the coffin that makes this patch worth less than spit is the fact they they STILL haven't come out with Nightmare Explosive Conflict. All in all this patch added very little for me to do other than wait for 7 of my friends to log on so I can PvP ranked. I don't need to play this patch anymore to know I'm not resubbing at the end of my 30 days. Maybe 1.4 will change, but Bioware has a LONG way to go.
  8. Any decent PvP class is easy mode. 50% of players in this game aren't worth the slot they take up in a warzone.
  9. Yes, it's really bothering me, now I gotta go change the files again.
  10. 4/10 Only content that was added was Ranked Warzones. The rest are just quality of life upgrades. Don't get me wrong, I know they're useful to some, but they don't even have Nightmare EC out 3 months after 1.2 was released. They messed up class balance even more and they fail at basic math (see Biochem Warzone Adrenal Cost). This patch isn't awful, it does add to the game. However, for three months of development on content that they already had a large head start on (Legacy and Ranked Warzones) I am unimpressed. I know they work hard and I know MMOs are hard to run, but after watching patch after patch and mistake after mistake I wonder if they shouldn't have gone down this road. I have a feeling this is not going to end well. It's not all their fault though, I keep coming back. Every time I come back to this game I have such high hopes. Every time Bioware finds some way to pee in my Kool-Aid. Thanks Bioware. HOWEVER, to be fair this patch just hit, this is my initial knee jerk reaction. I may change my mind after a week or so, even if I don't believe I will now.
  11. Bioware failed Basic Mathematics. More at 11.
  12. Legacy adds very little of actual value and is just a credit sink. Sorry, none of the ship upgrades are worth it in the least and being able to toss three other buffs on myself is a massive waste of time I could have spent making friends with people that play the class that has the buff. Calling anything from Legacy a Quality of Life Benefit is being generous considering the amount of money you're going to grind to get it. It's not cost effective for the minuscule benefit it gives. My personal opinion on the topic aside, by all means enjoy it for whatever you believe it gives you. I will firmly stand my ground and not buy a single Legacy benefit at their current pricing, it is a total waste of time and money that you could be investing in a game economy that is pathetic and still has no legs.
  13. $15 a month for the content that is being released is no longer really justifiable to me. Ops are cleared and on farm 3 weeks after release, PvP is so mediocre and warzones are such a joke it's hardly worth investing large amounts of time to play. Leveling alts for bad cliche stories and the same linear leveling path is boring. It's not the rate of content release that's the problem. (WARNING, MY OPINIONS/WANTS INCOMING) It's the quality of said content that is the issue. I mean we're 6 months in and this game needs A LOT of love. For example, Operations need to be longer for all modes, 4-5 boss in an Operation is a joke, these aren't flashpoints. Operations should be harder above story mode or they need to release Nightmare Ops MUCH more quickly. I mean hell Nightmare EC doesn't even have a window three months after they released the original Op and I've been done with Hardmode for 2 months now. PvP needs to be varied in the time that games last, using WoW as an example with Arathi Basin, Warsong Gulch, and Alterac Valley, don't make all WZ 15 minutes, make some longer and some shorter. Also, Warzones need to be capable of being specifically chosen not random getting huttball 5 times in a row is not fun, granted it's fairly rare since 1.2. Hell if they added in some really fun questlines to let people get orange social gear like the Rakghoul Event, not necessarily an event, but a series of quests that take a decent amount of time to complete and give random orange gear pieces specifically designed to look awesome. Oh and FIX CUSTOMIZATION it's awful right now. Rant aside, IMO, no this game isn't worth any more than 5 dollars a month to me in its current form. I want it to succeed and I'm gonna be sticking around to check in on it from time to time and see how my friends are doing, but I have trouble trying to rationalize how I even lasted this long.
  14. If your group can't do Story Mode EC in Columi or above they're doing it wrong. Augmented WH properly itemized would at least as good as Rakata properly itemized outside of maybe set bonuses depending on class. You'd be fine in HM with Properly itemized WH with augments. Edit: Spelling error >_< I r derpz
