  1. Nothing that I know of. The whole point was that you could use it at any level, and if there were stats baked into the shell that would defeat the purpose. The other day I took the lvl 65 mods out of a item and put them in a lvl 40ish orange piece. There was zero difference in the stats.
  2. It doesn't show any difference that we can see. But we have to allow for the fact that there are going to be things we can't see. Again, just because you can't see the reason doesn't mean one doesn't exist. There may not of been much of a reason when the person who wrote those quests did so. But they would of had some reason for deciding one is a planetary quest and one isn't. So when Bioware went and flagged all the quests they did based on whatever the person who wrote it decided.
  3. Agreed... Also who really does 76 heroics a week, let alone 760 of them over a 10 week period? I mean that's better than 10 a day.
  4. I'm fairly sure they're adaptive, because every character gets them. I know that they're moddable so yes you can upgrade them with mods you buy with CDC's. I think most classes give you a orange weapon fairly early on that you can update with mods as you go. When you pick your AC, you get a box with gear, I believe there's a orange weapon in that box.
  5. No it wasn't a statement of opinion. They said it takes a lot longer to level now than it did with 12xp. That is not a matter of opinion, that is a measurement of time, which is never subject to opinion. A lot may be subjective but longer is not. If, and I'll say I don't know this for a fact, but if it's true that people are hitting lvl 65 before finishing chapter 3. Then it is an objective fact that they are leveling up faster. Unless you are going to try and claim that the time it takes to do the planetary quests from chapter 1, 2, and 3 would take longer to do then all of the post lvl 50 content combined. That said I'd be interested in seeing the results of your experiment.
  6. Thanks for the corrections. I knew about purple ones, but it didn't seem relevant to mention to someone just starting out. Never seen a blue piece you could modify, other than a few sabers and those only the crystal.
  7. What if someone new doesn't understand how the system works? In MMO's we've been trained to pick up all quests we see. Plus myself I like not having to see them at all, I like the fact that they're hidden. I will agree that having turned off by default may not be the best answer, but it is again a way to protect new people while they learn how to play the game. Because one is and the other isn't. I can't say why they decided that, but Bioware has a master document somewhere that lists each quest and if it's a story, planet or side quest. This document would pre-date the game's release. So when they started flagging quests they used that document. That means it is not arbitrary, because there is a reason behind it. Just because someone can't see the reason, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
  8. See this is the thing... It can be established quite easily that you are in fact wrong. This isn't a matter of opinion, you are making an objective statement. It is quite clear that if you look at the current rate of level/hour played it is as fast if not faster than it was with 12xp. Yes you may have to do more quests, but you gain more XP per planet then you did before. So people are apparently now hitting lvl 65 before they even finish the first 3 chapters. Something I know you couldn't do with 12xp because I leveled a smuggler from 1-53 under 12x XP.
  9. So people who don't want to do them don't have to see them on the map. Also so new people don't get sidetracked doing missions that no longer really matter. Oh and it was most definitely not arbitrary, they turned off all quests that weren't part of the main story line for your class or for the planet itself.
  10. It's a lot easier to buy mods with crystals falling from the sky then it is to craft armor and add argument slots. There is really no reason at all to swap gear in this game. I suppose they could get rid of the mk 1 - mk 7 slots, and only keep the mk 8 ones. But why? What would that actually do to improve the game? The only thing it really does is take away an option that is in this case truly optional.
  11. Yes. They're common data crystals, they used to be called planetary commendations, and you use them to buy mods for orange and/or adaptive gear. The best thing to do for you I I think is to go to the fleet. There's a vendor on the fleet that will sell a full set of orange gear rated for lvl 7. I'm not sure how many crystals it costs per piece, so if you don't have enough, the GTN may be an option too. You can sometimes pick up orange gear there for very little. Those vendors are in the Supplies section of the fleet. The point of orange gear is you can up put mod's into it that you can buy on the fleet and most planets. Most items will take between 2 and 3 mods. These are things like armor, mods, enhancements, barrels, or hilts. Each mod costs 2 crystals so for a full set of orange gear you'll need 25 different items I think so about 50 crystals. Mods are good for like 4 levels I think, and you get 12 crystals per story quest you turn in. So it's really easy to get enough to buy a full set of mods. Now the other half of that is the appearance system, you get 1 slot for free that you can put gear on like you would normal equipment, but it doesn't actually do anything, just changes how you look. So if the orange gear doesn't look like how you want. You can buy cheap green items that you like and use them with the appearance system. You can also buy more appearance slots with credits.
  12. Right now you have to do the Class Quests as well as something else. It's slower then it was with 12xp but it's still pretty fast. You'll notice some quests are purple now, that's the class and main storyline for the planet as well as some FP's. If you do nothing but the purple quests you'll be on par level wise for each planet. You can skip the planetary quests if you want, and do something else, like FP's, Heroics or PvP. If you have enough XP boosts you could skip those as well.
  13. I'd be happy just to able to use one of my companions instead of that support droid.
  14. Isn't a Mk1 augment a lot cheaper to add then a Mk8? Do you even need them while you're leveling up? If not then what difference does it make how much they cost? I mean that may be a reason to get rid of the different augment slot levels...
