  1. I would not opt for a 128gb SSD and I'll tell you why. Here's my experience. First, I did not research SSD + HDD systems and potential problems before making the plunge. I upgraded to a gaming PC with 256gb SSD + 1tb HDD running Win 8. Installed SWTOR. Tried playing and game was unplayable. Discovered there was a bios update for my new pc, so updated. Then saw there was an update for my graphics card, so started to install. Bam, not enough available space for update. I thought the system would automatically load bulk files to the HDD and only load files needed for operation and performance to the SSD. Not the case. Everything was going on the SSD. It took me a long while of searching online, teaching myself, and trial and error, before I got things set up right. I still run into hiccups ever now and then. You really have to keep an eye on your SSD to make sure it isn't getting cluttered with junk. You have to set it up to send downloads, load programs, save pics, and such to your HDD. DO NOT TRY LOADING/MOVING ANY PART OF WINDOWS TO YOUR HDD, unless you are prepared to restore system and try again and again(trial and error). You can do it and make it work, but you have to fiddle with hidden files/settings. Windows wants all it's parts on the main drive. I finally got pretty much my entire win32 and win64 program files to my HDD, but can't tell you how...lol It literally took me a few days of trial and error, reading online tutorials, and copying/pasting strings where they needed to be to trick windows into thinking it was all on the same drive. I had to do multiple system restores and try different things during the process. In short, knowing what I know now, I would have just stuck with HDDs back then. However, now you can get 1tb SSDs and that's what I would recommend if you are going the SSD rout. SSDs definitely boost performance and load times, but I have not noticed any real benefit to actual game play with SWTOR. You'll load everything in game a little faster, but doesn't make you better, doesn't allow you to fire off attacks/heals faster, so on. You can only be/play/fight as fast as the server and global cooldowns allow. Now SSD's might give you a bit of an advantage in First Person Shooters, I don't really know.
  2. Guild vs. Guild wars SWG yes SWTOR no Guild wars in SWG were a blast. Warring guilds of the same faction, opposing faction, or multiple guilds vs multiple guilds. It was all good fun. I miss Red vs Blue and Red vs Blue vs Pink wars or server wars when every guild would declare war on every other guild.
  3. I'm not even entertained in the slightest by SWTOR's space content including space pvp. SWG's space content was awesome. An entire open space pvp zone. Go anywhere feel to the open space environment. Flagging for pvp anywhere in space. Oh yeah, who could forget "hey you want to go for a ride on my yacht?" or "hey, come to Kash with us on my yacht." hehe or "party on my yacht, pst for invite". Also loading an entire group on one ship to hit a space port during a guild war.
  4. Yes please and put them back in the packs as well.
  5. People like that generally amuse me. Those people that rant about other people's performance, usually turn out to be non-factors in the match anyway. You won't find them near the ball, they won't ever guard a node, and typically don't try to do much of anything objective related. So, my advice to you, just ignore them. I guarantee, most people see them as the idiot. Most would rather see you try and fail, than not to try at all. As far as the hateful sexual orientation or racial or even religious comments go, REPORT them. There is no place for it in any social arena(online or real life) and is unacceptable behavior. Help them learn that by getting them temporarily banned from the game
  6. After reading the nice replies to your post, speculating on the possible problem, I will give a dose of reality when it comes to tickets and customer support with swtor. It's true, right now response times will be increased due to the number of issues introduced with the latest game update. With that said, from my own experiences, compared to other mmorpg's I've played the normal response time to tickets in SWTOR is horrible. When you do get a response, it's almost always a generic response that offers no real solution or help to the problem you are having. In most cases it doesn't even relate to the problem you are having. You take the time to describe what is going on in a very descriptive manor, so that anyone with basic knowledge of the game can understand. Yet, it's almost like the people responding know nothing at all about the game. In short, the response you get will start with "Sorry for your troubles" and end with "there's nothing we can do". They then close the ticket, so you can't even respond back to it. I'm not sure who runs the customer service(Bioware or EA), but my theory is it has been outsourced to a CS group that has no connection with the game at all. Either way, the Customer Service group for SWTOR does the game a great disservice. In past mmorpg's I've played the CS's not only had basic knowledge of the game, they also actively played the game. In many cases they would load into the game on their character to observe the problem first hand. In those games, player/customer that initiates the ticket, determines when it has been satisfied, and closes it on their own accord. You don't get that connection at all in SWTOR.
  7. Sounds like you just got the game and installed it on your system or you have been away from the game for long time. If you just installed for the first time, yeah, you can expect several hours to a day of updates before you can actually play the game. This is true with most(if not all) MMORPG's. The install disks or initial download only install the game basics. Then, when you load the game for the first time, it will install all the updates(everything you need) to be able to play the game in its current state. Same thing if you have been away for a while. All the files, maps, vids, so on, from all the updates you missed, will need to be loaded on your system. Depending on how many updates you missed, this can take several hours to accomplish. Hang in there. If you are Star Wars geek like me, it will be worth it in the end
  8. Yeah, no kidding. There have been numerous complaints starting with early access. Numerous people sending multiple tickets, that get you a slap in face response, " sorry for you troubles, nothing we can do". Numerous threads, bug reports, posts, so on. Now, it's just now being investigated? Are you serious?! You haven't looked into it until now? What a joke... They need to fire the entire customer support team and get some trained/qualified people in place. They need to fire anyone/everyone that new this problem was going and did nothing about it.
  9. Not trying to be funny here. By "my girlfriend", do you mean a real life person you know face to face, someone playing at a pc right next to you, or is it a female character you met and had an in-game/online relationship with? I ask, because scammers will use any tactic they can to get what they want. I haven't heard of it in SWTOR, but years ago, in SWG this kind of in-game scam was going on. Scammers would create female toons, run around asking for help, and find some nice person willing to help. They would then work their way into an in-game romance, play clueless about how to succeed in-game, so the victim would give them credits/items to help them. Then they would vanish. If they had an out of game online thing going, the excuse that was often used was " I got banned because they thought you giving me credits was a credit exchange from a credit farmer". If it's someone you know in real life, have her contact customer support, explain the situation, and them you contact info to verify. If it's someone you know only online, I cannot stress this enough, do not give them you personal information. That can lead to bigger problems.
  10. Really good and well thought post however, I've never had to have anyone call out for help at a node/objective to know they are in trouble. So might add: If you can't see a node, check who's guarding it and keep an eye on their health. If they start taking damage, might want to head over and assist. Always fight near the node, keeping it in view. Never chase or leave the node area to engage opponents( likely they are drawing you away, so a stealthy can ninja cap). If you suddenly notice you greatly outnumber your opponents, it's very likely they are rotating to an under staffed node. (in fact that happens more often than not, 7 teammates chasing around 1 or 2 leftovers, while the poor lone guy guarding a captured point, just got steamrolled by 6 opponents). No point in calling out when that happens, because it's already too late. Unless you know beyond any doubt that your team can easily steamroll the competition, when you have 2 nodes, simply guard those nodes and keep them under control. Usually when a few heroes run off to get that 3rd cap is when things go horribly wrong and you end up losing a match you easily had won. It's much easier to keep a node than it is to capture one.

    The Bolster System

What I've noticed, leveling up a new character from scratch, the bolster I'm getting never seems to change. I'm looking at bolster different than most though, as I'm looking at my stats on the pvp tab in character sheet. They seem to stay around 53% Damage Bonus, 27% Damage Reduction, and 17% Healing Bonus. Nothing I do changes that. Using lower level gear has no effect, using all green at my level hast no effect, mixing it up has no effect, all blues has no effect, or all purples, same thing. Prior to 4.0, I could see slight changes in those stats by mixing/matching my gear to maintain 60% Damage Bonus and 30% Damage Reduction.
  12. That is no longer correct. Blue, Purple, Red, and Orange all now provide Mastery, so your Main Stat(Mastery) benefits from all of them now.
  13. A lot of the pvp'ers really don't care too much for pve, but still like their companions. How many companions require/force you to do pve? What about datacrons? Can pvp'ers get all the datacrons without engaging in pve? My favorite parts of this game are pvp and crafting, but I really do not care for heroics, any group related pve, or conquest. Now, am I forced to do pve or conquests to craft? No, but I do if I want to get the most out of crafting. Do I have to engage in pve or go into heroic areas? No, but if I want all the datacrons to have better stats(more mastery) for pvp, I certainly do. Do you have to pvp to get companions? No, but if you want Doc, you do. If you really want Doc, it doesn't take long to do 20 wz's. I actually think it's nice they gave a companion to the pvp community that doesn't require a pve grind.
  14. Pros: - having storage mules - self reliance(be able to craft whatever you need) - experiencing different roles - experiencing both factions - being able to go off on your own and decompress after work, without guildies knowing you're on(not getting bothered to do ops or other guild functions). Cons: - staring at character screen, trying to decide what you want to do today - getting them all caught up with updates/expansions(such as with the new *simplified* crafting mess we have now) - entering a war zone on your commando, but your brain, timing, and fingers are still in sorc/sage mode.
  15. See highlighted in red: Doesn't matter if you bad or not. Most people get more irritated at someone not participating, as you are taking a slot from someone that would participate. If you're bad, yeah, some jerks will cry about in ops chat, call you out for it, make a big fit about it, so on. But really, who cares? Just ignore them. Most people think they are the idiots for carrying on that way. To be honest, nearly every jerk I've seen in a war zone, is actually pretty bad, have the lowest objective stats, avoid guarding nods, or being anywhere near the ball in huttball, and while they are spending all that time ranting in ops chat, they are in fact not participating or helping at all. So, please do give war zones a try. Participate and don't be afraid to ask questions. Ignore the jerks and try to have fun. More likely than not, it won't be long before you discover a new love for pvp and it may even become your main focus of the game(especially end game). It's a great stress reliever
