Can't say I hate the Republic so much as regard them as corrupt inefficient noobs. The entire Hammer Station Flashpoint is a testament to Republic idiocy and they're clinging to the Treaty of Coruscant all while breaking it all over the place(Empire does it too but they have the balls to be more open about it). Actually, I think that's why i dislike the Republic. The empire does a ton of evil, terrible things but they don't try to hide it like the Republic. We're jerks and our system blows for the little guy and we're not afraid to say so, but so does the Republic while trying to look like a giant benevolent nation.
