  1. Hey guys. So I'm getting kind of frustrated here and I'm wondering if I could get some help...either a tip or a suggestion or what. Basically, I'm stuck on a class story quest on Alderaan, called "The Secrets of the Jedi". It's a level 28 quest. There are these two silver guards standing by the doorway to the last room in the instance that I need to access a terminal inside of, and despite the fact that I am a level 30 (the two bad guys in question are level 29 and 30 respectively), can beat level 31 and sometimes even level 32 gold-star enemies by myself easily enough, am using the highest willpower stims I can gain access to, as well as the highest quality medpacs I can gain access to, have tried 3 different talent builds, have spent countless amounts of credits in the galactic trade network buying upgrades to the hilt slot in my lightsaber as well as the armoring slot in my chest, legs, and mask piece to the highest I could possibly find at the various times I have visited, I still get DESTROYED by these two dudes. I initially came in with Andronikos Revel, but the two baddies stunned me (it's the longest stun I've seen in the game yet by far, it's like 10 seconds, and if I use my anti-stun move on it, the second guy just uses his on me immediately, thus rendering it completely ineffective and making me wait like another 10 minutes for the cooldown on that move to finish) and one-shot him. I decided to switch to Khem Val, who has way more health than Andronikos does and is a much more suitable tank. I let Khem Val aggro them first, but the level 29 one (Khem Val and I are both level 30, as I have mentioned before), ONE SHOT KILLED my tank companion, then together, the two SILVER baddies two-shot killed me. I never die. Ever. I take on mobs way higher than my level all the time and do just fine. Especially silver mobs higher than my level. But these two guys absolutely have my number, and I don't know how to best them. I tried, as a last resort, to stealth past them, but they're standing RIGHT in the doorway, so it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to stealth past them. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or pointers they can help me out with. I'd really appreciate some help. I'm thinking about just quitting this character at this point, because I initially tried this quest at level 28 and then spent countless other hours leveling up the next two levels so that I would be severely OVERleveled for this quest... but I'm getting very frustrated that I cannot beat two silver mobs in a level 28 quest as a level 30 semi-twinked out Sith Assassin. Thank you so much.
  2. It was definitely an issue brought up in the KOTOR game(s), which are in a lot of ways far more relevant to this game than anything in the films are. Jolee Bindo, especially, had a lot to say on romantic entanglements as a Jedi. Furthermore, in the book "Revan" written by the guy who wrote the KOTOR games (did he write TSL? I know he wrote KOTOR 1 but am not 100% sure about KOTOR 2), which is last book about Revan before SWTOR was released, the book discusses several times that Revan had come to realize that love, specifically, if mastered correctly, could be a beneficial emotion that prevented people from turning to the dark side. I think that in-game these types of entanglements are most certainly frowned on by the jedi order. However, out of game, I don't think that these types of relationships could lead to the dark side. I think that if handled incorrectly, they could very well lead to the dark side--if your lover is killed in battle by a sith or a dirty bounty hunter, you may very well wish to exact revenge (which we know leads to the dark side). However, if, in the context of the game, jedi in a loving relationship made it clear to their partners that if they were killed, no matter the consequence, they would never want their partner to walk that path, love could very well be a beneficial emotion to the jedi. Furthermore, past the movies, when Luke Skywalker rebuilds the jedi order in the books, he himself is married and has a child. And so do almost all of the main characters involved in the jedi order. So it's safe to assume that Luke Skywalker's jedi order, which can be argued to be very stable and powerful when compared to most jedi orders throughout the history of star wars, actually promotes and nurtures love. Could it be that part of where Luke's jedi order gets it's strength and resolve from is, in fact, love?
  3. I believe it was I who said that thing about being too angry to love, but you misinterpreted what I was trying to say. I was trying to say that DARK SIDERS are too angry to love. I was watching a youtube video with the Dark side Jaese romance options--horribly laughable. The conversations just feel awkward and stiff--it's like when you watch two people you really hate that make your life miserable eat each other's faces--it's just gross and feels weird and awkward. That being said, I can't disagree with you about the Sith love. In fact, so far, I really think that all of the Sith storylines >>> the Republic storylines. Which really disappoints me, because all I wanted to do when I first got this game was play as a Jedi Knight or Jedi Consular and rid the galaxy of evil and be an awesome good guy
  4. Yeah, I can imagine that that must really suck. I was definitely more than surprised that Bioware decided to omit the ability to have homosexual relationships in the game. It's kind of been a thing that they've never had a problem with before. Didn't they say they're incorporating it soon, though? That's good news--you get to re-roll a whole new character to get romance options all over again!
  5. Ah, thanks for all the replies, people! I may have to try a bounty hunter. I'm a dude IRL and I'm straight, but I never objected to play female characters and romancing guys in Bioware games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age. I think that part of the fun of a video game is that you get to experience different...well...lives, and when I look for a good romance in a video game I don't always care about who I'm physically attracted to (since it is, after all, a freaking video game) but more whose personality I like the most and whose romance storyline I like the most. The female bounty hunter one sounds really good. I don't like Mako's voice, I've only played a very tiny bit of male bounty hunter but Mako very much bugs me. I think that she has a really good past, though, so I'm curious as to whether or not her past is opened up as part of her character development during the romance storyline. As for Kira Carsen I like her character a lot. She very much reminds me of a female version of Anakin Skywalker in Episode II...extremely cocky and casual, which I like, since that's the way I imagine all of my Jedi characters to be, despite still being light-sided. She actually reminds me a lot of Revan in the Bastila romance, as well...how he is always teasing her. My only jedi knight character is a female but I've heard that the male is much more well voiced and that the Kira Carsen relationship is pretty good. My only problem with playing bounty hunter, which appears to have very good relationships, is...yes, the lack of a light saber. I know that bounty hunters are ridiculously awesome in their own right, as are troopers, and I've even heard that troopers and bounty hunters are, according to many people, some of the best, most fun, and most powerful classes in the game...but there's nothing like tearing through enemies with a lightsaber and the force as opposed to just shooting people with guns. Is the Bounty Hunter storyline any good? I've heard it's pretty good but it just feels weird playing a Star Wars game with a non-force using class when really, the vast majority of the series, including movies, books, shows, and games, are centered around jedi and sith. But I will definitely have to try the Bounty Hunter out. What are some other great romances, for those of you who have not posted here yet?
  6. So a question for those of you who have played the game enough to romance a companion character at least once. What romance relationship, either male or female, do you players find the most compelling and well...awesome? One of the reasons I love Bioware RPG's is because of some of the great romances that I feel really make the overall storyline of the game much more compelling and interesting--say, for example, the Revan/Bastila romance storyline in KOTOR 1, or the Shepard/Ashley romance in ME1, which I also thought was very well done. What are your guys' favorite romance relationships in this game so far? I was watching vids of the Sith Warrior's romances with Dark sided Jaese and light sighted Vette and, no offense to any Jaese or Vette lovers, couldn't stop laughing. Vette is voiced so cheesily at times and I find it hard to imagine her in a "romantic" relationship with a Sith Lord, even if he has a heart of gold. On top of that, I think that any dark-side romance is usually terrible..dark sided sith are just far too angry all the time to be involved in anything as 'peaceful' or even emotionally fulfilling as love. So, what are your favorite love interest stories in this game so far, on both male and female?
  7. I agree. I haven't felt that sad and "empty", as the OP very accurately put it, after reading a book, well, I don't think ever. That being said, I don't read a ton anymore, but still, after investing most of my young adolescence to KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2, I was definitely really saddened by the fate of all of my favorite characters. Bastila's fate really saddened me. That final scene with her in KOTOR 1 when you finally convince her to recognize that she loves you was a very touching scene, in my opinion. I'm a dude but I'm kind of a big softie when romances are done well, and I loved the Revan/Bastila romance (I happen to think it is possibly the best romance in any video game I've ever played ever)...so to see it end in that manner was incredibly disappointing. And yeah, the way that the exile got killed from behind...such a crappy way for such an awesome character to go. I also thought that the book at times felt too rushed, particularly towards the beginning. I mean I just like flew right through the parts where Revan was at home...It would have been nice to see a couple of small scenes of him doing things around home aside from talking with Canderous in shady places and having incredibly short conversations with his wife. I love the social aspect of RPG games and I think the book didn't do that part of rpg games enough justice--I felt like the book just rushed through all of the best social scenes so that it could just get to the combat and dark parts...which I think is cool, but it's a book, not a movie. If it had been a movie, where audiences start to get really antsy after say, 2 or 3 hours, I'd understand the rush. But I think that had the author stretched out the social scenes in the beginning of the book, the middle of the book, and the ending of the book, I think that the action-packed and dramatic scenes would have felt that much more "important" since we would have been more socially invested in Revan and the characters whom he affects.
  8. Is there no other way? I didn't know how to make a system restore point so I didn't make any
  9. Can someone please help me? I followed most of the steps in this guide and for some reason the changes don't allow me to play Mass Effect 2 on my system anymore. So I've gone back and undone almost all of the changes but I still can't change my theme back to Windows Aero (in the Themes menu all of the new modernized Windows 7 themes are grayed out and unselectable while the high contrast and windows classic themes are the only ones I can choose from). I know it sounds crazy but I was literally playing ME2 on this exact same system less than a month ago and the ONLY thing that has changed is these tweaks...so I'm assuming that it HAS to be these tweaks that are causing the problem?
  10. Yeah, the computer is a Macbook Pro, so you know it's going to be overpriced But even then, I was thinking about adding on like 4 GB of RAM or so, because that's what I thought, that because of the video card leeching off of my RAM, I didn't have enough RAM to play the game. And I have a desktop with an Nvidia Chipset, but it's got a terrible processor when compared to this computer, so I'm not sure that it will be that much of an improvement. If I had $700 bucks to blow, I'd totally build myself a desktop. My friend just did that for Christmas, he's got the sickest rig now. I have about $50 to spend, though
  11. Lmao, no offense, but I think this was a pretty obvious statement I realize that better computers will allow me to play the game more efficiently, but I don't have that kind of money to shell out on a brand new computer. I also don't have an old GPU--my computer is actually pretty new, and it was $2000 when I got it. So it's not at all a bad computer--it just has an Integrated GPU. But yeah, I guess my main question is if anyone knows if upgrading my RAM ONLY will help increase my framerates while using an Integrated Intel GPU? But I appreciate you trying to help out, Tyedye
  12. Hey everyone. So ever since I got this game I've been playing on The Republic's side of the game and have been experiencing HORRIBLE random FPS drops. But today, on the exact same forum as my Republic side characters, I made a Sith Warrior, and was amazed; I had an incredibly consistent and reasonable framerate. I have a crappy Intel Integrated GPU, so obviously, I'm not going to be running this game on it's highest settings. I've got v-sync and shadows turned off and everything is set to the lowest settings. Is this a common thing? Is it common for there to be more fps problems on the republic worlds than it is on the imperial worlds? Or is my computer just strange? Lastly, I have a question. I only have 2 GB of RAM, and, as mentioned before, I have an Intel Integrated GPU. My question is, if I upgraded my RAM, would that help these FPS drops at all? I think that the reason I've been experiencing these issues is because of my low amount of RAM, and I think this because one time while playing I opened up the "processes" tab in my Windows Task Manager and saw that while playing SWTOR, my computer was using 98% of it's "physical memory". So my question is, will upgrading my RAM help my situation at all? Or am I pretty much doomed to play with severe FPS problems until I buy an entirely new computer?
  13. I've been having serious problems running this game with everything set to low and the two "quality" sliders in-game set to the lowest possible settings. I haven't actually tracked my FPS, I just know that I constantly get serious fps issues whenever I do things like enter a new area or go from inside to outside/outside to inside. The game stutters and locks up for quite a bit (I'd say like anywhere from 5-10 seconds) and it looks/feels like I'm getting around 1-3 FPS, and even when it's not being that bad I still get random fps glitches that make it seem like I'm running at a low fps. I am able to play Skyrim on High Settings on my computer without even this much of an issue. Here are my specs off of memory: Intel Core i5 @ 2.30 Ghz Intel HD Graphics 3000 (It's an integrated graphics card but it's never had this much of a problem playing any GPU-intensive games. It's also directly dependent on my RAM, as most integrated graphics cards are ) 4GB of RAM
